    Excellent conversation. I think depression and disappointment are two separate things. Depression is a state of consciousness that is horrible to fall into and difficult to pull yourself out of. Disappointment, is a temporary event that is not as extreme. Best wishes for anyone suffering from depression.

      Regarding personality, Patton's on the money, exactly right. The big difference between fictional Lex Luthor and real-world techbros like Musk or Bezos is the fact that Luthor is an actual genius in many ways, but the techbros are for the most part morons who started with a ton of money and had a knack for buying up other people's good ideas. Watching any decent interview with Musk just makes you shake your head and wonder how the hell he got where he is.

    • @dcworld4349
      @dcworld4349 4 месяца назад +2

      @@eddiek8179 Well first he didn't make it into a photo op he took the picture, then people started to complain because it was shortly after the closer. Second is it a backstab if you say you disagree with your friend now? He didn't go out and say that he was going to end a 30+ year friendship. I don't know how your friendships are but having had a great variety and number of friend groups over the years, some of which has lasted my entire life. We don't need to align on every single issue for us to get along.

    • @eddiek8179
      @eddiek8179 4 месяца назад +1

      @@dcworld4349 Stop. If you're going to defend this cretin, get the facts right. He took and posted a picture with Dave because he was fan and friend. When he received the backlash ( a very minor one at that), he immediately decided to castigate Dave but not before doing a photo op of him thinking very hard about he was to going to word his response to Dave.
      This has nothing to do with aligning of issues because he had no problems with it up until he received the backlash. He was the one who decided to publicly denigrate Dave. People don't need to align with every issue to get along - True. But guess who was the one who couldn't? It was him because he was the one who made an issue of it.
      No one is calling him out because he has a different stance on issues but because he went out of his way to denigrate his friend over an issue he supposedly didn't agree with. The irony being Dave isn't homophobic in the least while Patton has said actual hateful stuff in his comedy routines in the past.

    • @dcworld4349
      @dcworld4349 4 месяца назад +1

      @@eddiek8179 okay could you link this? Cause all I saw was Patton saying that he 100% disagree with Dave on this issue and that he thinks he has things to learn and also said that he himself has things to learn. You clearly have seen something I haven't so what did he say to denigrate and where did he say it?
      The people who are against Dave don't think he is homophobic, transphobic sure. I don't think he is either of those things. But I do hope whenever he does decide that he wants another 20 million from Netflix that he doesn't go there again. Not because of the drama just my personal feeling that what else could he possibly say that wouldn't be a a repeat. I'm sure he could find a way that wouldn't be like if you see Seinfeld do stand up more often than every 10 years.
      Unless there is something major that happens that makes it impossible not to adress. It will be like gilding the lily and one of the reason why Dave is one of the best stand ups who has ever lived is that like Carlin so much of his material is carbon dated. Take Bill Maher for example, doing it in Real Time is one thing after all its a comedy news shows about current events. But even his stand up unless you were alive or have caught up on the news of the time. It won't be something people who discover him will be able to go back and watch in 20 years. Not that all of his material is that way of course. But from when I discovered him myself until today. I have constantly seen new people get introduced to Carlin because it holds up. Even manages to become more relevant with time.
      Dave has that exact same gift. People can go back and see his specials the way people go back and watch the Eddie Murphy specials.

    The working man in the UK, has their tea with milk and sugar, which is why that is classically called "Builders Tea". Certain types of tea are drunk in certain ways. Earl Grey can have milk, or Lemon. English Breakfast is best with milk, but the best selling varieties in the UK are basically builders tea, PG Tips, Tetley, Typhoo, Yorkshire Tea, etc. Take it from a Brit who is obsessed with his tea, especially as I live outside the UK now.

    • @luckrequired5382
      @luckrequired5382 3 месяца назад

      Earl Grey with milk is wrong, should never be served with milk, it's not one of those teas. None of those teas mentioned are types of tea they are brand names that sell the same bland, black breakfast tea.
      Sincerely, a real Brit.

    • @andyjt11
      @andyjt11 3 месяца назад

      @luckrequired5382 Obviously, you aren't a real Brit if you don't realise those black tea blends are not breakfast blends. Although traditionally, people drink Earl Grey with lemon, a large % of drinkers like it with milk! Also, every Brit knows those traditional brands are basically builders' tea, but they are different blends. Go turn in your passport!!

    I was JUST telling my family, last night, I discovered why new movies and music is so lacking in creativity. And then I hear Oswalt talking about needing obscure years to find yourself. This was my exact thought last night. Filmmakers and Musicians no longer have years of boredom in silence to practice. When I was a kid, there were COUNTLESS hours and days where I had nothing to do, no one to talk to, no internet, no cell phone. So I had to find ways to stimulate my brain, which is where you begin practicing things. Then you become very good at that thing. Kids do not practice anymore. They are either on their phones or going straight into a project half-cocked. Then they make mediocre art. Before social media we had nothing to do but master things. We traded in our creativity and passion for passivity.
