The more decades I do this, the less I believe in that old adage of not mixing exercise types. I think pushing the body past comfort and keeping it guessing are the only two true rules.
Does it matter when you're doing the a reverse deficit lunges to hold on to something. Just wondering because I do a variation of that and I'm wondering if It matters. I don't hold with full pressure just for a little bit of balance
The hip thrust is more of a quad exercise not glutes exercise . You want to isolate the hamstrings and glutes you have to do extended leg hip bridges .

It's still effective if you hold onto something but better if you don't
I find using a step for the stationary foot helps my balance & works me harder!
