Worked with a guy that played Rugby. Every Monday he's come in with a splint on a finger...black eye...stitches somewhere. Every year when health insurance premiums renewed and the cost went up, almost the entire company blamed him. But the truth way, they performed a lot of their own medical. His girlfriend was a nursing student and she'd just stitch them up on the side of the field...no anesthetic...and they'd keep playing.
That player who was tackled and got back up, No 11, was Portia Woodman aka the Kaikohe express. She played for the Black Ferns, New Zealand's national woman's team, and was one of the best on the planet.
A good woman's game to watch would be last year's women's world cup final between New Zealand and England.
At top level the workouts are intense! Involves aerobic, anaerobic, flexibility, strength, and speed training.
Yes. An amazing game with a great contrast in styles between the two teams. England went with power and New Zealand went with speed. It was so close and either side could have won right up to the last moment.
Also, any Ruby Tui interview!
@@gavshan Yes, Ruby is brilliant!
@@gavshan ruclips.net/video/JvdvEiFL0h0/видео.html everyone who knows rugby loves Ms Tui. Her interviews match her onfield performances .... pure class!
THIS is a women’s sport I would enjoy watching.
“Oh, is that a mmm….aybe not.” 😅👍
Lol it was a good save!
My niece in Australia played rugby. Kept the physios & a surgeon or two employed, but she loved it. My son is just starting rugby & first lessons are how to tackle & fall correctly.
I have always had an appreciation for your REAL approach to the reaction videos posted. Thank you
I've seen multiple reactions to this video. You're the first one of the reacting people who notice the help of the decisive push of the teammate at 1:20 ! But as all the others, you fell into the trap of the "is hair pulling illegal" and barely notice the forearm in the throat on the next action which is way worse and was sanctionned by a yellow card 🤣
Great reaction as always!
Big congratulations on 100,000 Subscribers. Brilliant channel.
Thanks so much (:
Woman’s rugby is fantastic, so much athleticism and skill… just as exciting to watch as the guys game! Fantastic!
Loving your reaction videos as well…
Not too take anything away from these tough and amazing athletes, but the Bert and Ernie cameo at 5:47 just cracked me up! 🤣
Strength, Stamina and Skill - all come from practice and training. I'm always pleased to see people turning on to the women's game. Usually a good start for beginners to watching as it's a little less 'brute force' and easier to see what's going on.
Rugby teams quite often do judo training. Parts of the game definitely resemble martial arts. When you pick up your opponent you must put them back down safely. You can’t drop them or drive them into the ground on their head/neck. Bad tackles are punished harshly, with a red card, so your team plays with 14 against 15. Repeat offenders are given long bans.
Interesting, I took Judo as a child, and every year at the belt ceremony thing we would have to fight the girls. They were scary. For the guys it was very sportsman like and technical, we would help each other work on different skills. The women came out like it was a life or death fight with murder in their eyes.
New Zealand has one of tge best women's rugby in the world, Definitely worth a watch, especially a full game
Just thought I'd mention the Spear tackle. It is the tackler's responsibility to ensure the ball carrier lands safely if lifted off the ground. The tackle after 2:20 is a perfect example of the ball carrier being lifted but safely grounded "right on her hip" by the tackler. The tackle immediately after where the player is spun around and landed on her shoulder, literally speared into the ground head first, is a penalty (notice the ref with the straight arm in the air), almost certainly a yellow card (10 min. sin bin) and probably red (sent off).
Direct contact to the head with the tackler's head, shoulder or elbow would also now be red, maybe yellow if there are mitigating circumstances like: the ball carrier slips into the tackle; or maybe if initial contact was with the chest but carried on upwards to the head; or maybe the ball carrier ducked very low into the tackler; or an unavoidable collision.
Great video though. I do like your work. Too many reaction video's are just the viewer going "ow, that must hurt man!" without the video prompting actual thought! You got a follower!
That tackle of the English scrum half by the Samoan Full Back did result in a red card.
England vs New Zealand women's world cup final from 2022. Epic match. Some illegal types of tackling: Tackling someone who isn't holding the ball (fine line if you were holding the ball then passed / kicked it but the tackler was already committed to the tackle = judgement call by the ref); Tackling someone lifting them in the air and causing their upper body to hit the ground before their hips / legs hit the ground (called a spear tackle); tackling someone who is in the air (e.g. jumping to catch the ball, the tackler has to wait until at least one foot is on contact with the ground); "head high tackle" meaning the tackler's arm goes above shoulder height to contact the neck or head; foot tripping.
Some of those women were not letting anybody catch them which was fun to watch. Gratz on 100K!
2:16 Yes. God I love rugby for its physicality and athleticism. Loving this reaction. As always, great delivery of content here.
Thanks for the Video 😀
USA will be hosting the mens rugby world cup 2031, so you are getting into the game at the right moment🔥🔥
enjoyed your reaction, thank you; I have seen video of the girl, tackled at 1:50, many times and it always makes me wince - and yes, you are only allowed to tackle the player with the ball.
When I see your expressions when you're watching videos like this, I feel that I could do an entire reaction video just commenting on your reactions. (Jeez. I need to find a synonym for "reaction".) Great video.
You can do your " Take " on her reactions ? Or give " feedback with your opinion " ?
I was joking, but her facial expressions are great, and her smiles light up the screen.
A number of the tackles are illegal. Yes, no hair pulling and the one where the girl is flipped right over is illegal. Tackles must be below the shoulders and no head contact by the tackler with the tackled player. Best women’s match to watch is the 2022 World Cup final between England and New Zealand.
Rules have changed over the years. When i last played in the seventies there was no such thing as an illegal tackle. One opponent was covered in Vaseline so he slid through my fingers, the next time i tackled him by his afro, perfectly legal then.
Vaseline or excessive deep heat. Urgh.
Tackle must be a proper attempted wrap up; no shoulder hits with zero intention to use arms. It’s not NFL.
So, you are getting into rugby. Great sport for fans.
Yeah, this is why my rugby career lasted less than 1 minute! It was fun and games when my friend was showing me what he learnt in boarding school, then that tackle happened😂
Full field try at 358 was scored by Magalie Harvey CDN National team. It was try of the year at the time. She played her Uni at StFX Univ in Nova Scotia Canada and won , I believe, three Uni nationals in her time here.
Highly recommend Australian Rules Football (AFL) men and women leagues. 1st - BUMPS & FIGHTS in Women's AFL 2017 AFLW. 2nd video - Best of the Decade: 2010-2019 | Brutal bumps and tackles | AFL. 📚 Book recommendation: Colin Scotts "All Balls - they said an Aussie couldn't do it". He was the 1st Australian to win a football scholarship in the United States, then played in the NFL for 10 years. An interesting insight.
Go on, have a try. x
Rugby was my school's main sport and wasn't much fun on a cold, rainy tuesday morning.
I found out they had a defunct squash team, so me and three schoolmates resurected it and got to sit in a nice warm room on our own for an hour instead.
Love the way you do reaction let it start and not talking all the time only when need great work ps lovely smile ❤❤❤ ,,even the woman don't wear all the padding you Americas wear this is the real game
No Protocol Awesome Video Today!!🔥🐐🐐💎
You didn't see women in the World Cup because they had theirs two years ago.
The 2021 Women's final between England's Red Roses and New Zealand's Black Ferns was IMO the best Championship Match I have seen in over 50 years of watching rugby.
i used to coach children's rugby at that age they are made of rubber and used to soak up hits and as they get older they are more accustomed to it , but first you start at touch rugby with belt tags that you have to grab rather than tackle , like most sports rugby teaches a better sense of team work and belonging and trust , look for a video on no look passing they are not luck but a belief that your team mate will be there , rugby i believe has the best sportsmanship , also the most vicious punch ups but after the game both sides either have dinner or go drinking together :).
Been a loooooong while since I played rugby (only schoolboy level, if barely that!) You're only supposed (from memory) to tackle the one with the ball and any contact should be shoulders and down. My own thing was dealign with a schoolmate who was tall and lanky (about a foot taller than everyone else) and he was a fast runner and no-one ever tried to stop him. So one day he was running right at me, so .. I dived at him and took him down like a felled tree as I hit him at knee height. It hurt my shoulder a bit, but it was worth it!
Spear tackling is banned that is to say when the tackler picks up the ball carrier and turns him/her head downwards. Which could lead to head neck and spinal traumas.
I don't know how these players don't have permanent whiplash. Their bodies must be insanely solid!
there's also 'Murderball', officially known as Wheelchair Rugby. There are male, female and mixed teams.
The Men's Six Nations is on right now and the Women's is following up right after the Men's is finished. Great opportunity to watch some games!
I highly recommend the goat of snooker, especially this compilation:
Ronnie O'Sullivan Top 22 Genius Moments!
You are smart girl they go hard best we mortals just watch anyway the big bash cricket is on see ya
A video that I would love for you to have a look at is 'A beginner's guide to AFL football'. A sport that is only played professionally in Australia. It's exciting to watch
You were going to go... Oh is that ummm co-ed and stopped yourself 😂😂😂😂
I wouldn't play with them either 😅 Rugby in general. In this case it would be a lose-lose situation for me. It's fun behind the screen though.
Watching is enough for me as well haha
I hope you’ve seen the New Zealand All Black Hakka. The New Zealand All Black women’s team is pretty elite also.
Absolutely!
The first clip you saw with the team in white strip with the African lady scoring was your USA ladies rugby team.
you could also try watching the video called “Rugby explained for American Football fans” really interesting and informative
The England player (in white) who was tacked into touch completely shredded her knee, it was 2 years before she was able to play again.
Recommend: England vs NZ world cup final 2022, the recent WXV 1 matches and the Women's Six Nations (last year if you want, the next one is only a few months away if you can wait)
Hey NP,
enjoyed this video.
If you're interested in Australian domestic rugby you could check out the State of Origin NSW v Qld.
For future rugby video recommendation, you should check out the New Zealand All Blacks haka if you've never seen it before.
I live in Melbourne and while this is not really rugby territory here; we have our own brand of football AFL - Aussie Rules football; which is definitely worth a video if you have never seen this either.
NP - have you seen the film 'Next Goal Wins'? It isn't rugby related; it's soccer. However, it is a story about soccer in American Samoa (Samoa is rugby territory).
They are real athletes. Respect.
Such a beautiful sport ❤️🔥
Wow!
Watching these skilled and amazingly tough women play makes me wish the ladies in the new NPHL hockey league had full contact too. The girls are certainly skilled but that physically part of hockey is very important for a more marketable game to watch
Now you only have to watch wheel chair Rugby League which is brutal
In general you cannot attack a player who doesn't have the ball.
However, just say you kick the ball ahead and you run to get the ball back and there's the opposition player running along side you, also intending to get the ball, you're allowed a limited amount of jostling
So if you're contesting for the ball you can make contact with a player without the ball, such as in a ruck, or mall, and of course the other exceptions are the scrum where you're pushing at players for the ball
Also you cannot make contact above the shoulders, or at a person who is in the air
You cannot tackle a person to flip them where their feet end up higher than their head so that they end up head first into the ground upside-down thus at about 2:30 you see a player flipped upside down and immediately the referee raises the hand for a penalty
@06:09 Lol, the slow down as you start to say "that can't be legal, right." as someone else is body-checked in the throat with a forearm.
That great thing with Rugby there a place for all shapes and sizes in men’s and women’s. My son used to train on a Wednesday night when the girls were training and us dads used to stand very still when the girls were training as if they hit us we knew it would hurt.
I do like watching American men who played American Football getting totally emasculated watching this video.... As a rule of thumb, when watching international matches, men or women, the colour coding of the shirts . Black= New Zealand, Yellow Green = Aussie White = England Red= Wales Dark Blue =Scotland Blue=France Green Yellow= South Africa White Blue Stripe=Argentina Green=Ireland Red White =Japan Light Blue=Italy Blue with Stars =USA Red White =Canada. There are "away" shirts if France play Scotland as the colour is too similar. Music suggestion "Little L" by Jamiroquai OMG 100000 subscribers!!!! Well done! Road to Half a million......
the game (whether rugby union, rugby & aussia rules) is read and determined 'on the fly' - unlike american football - glad you appreciated
You're my favorite NPC (No Protocol Channel).
2:17 yes. Technically you are only allowed to tackle the ball carrier. Albeit if they have passed the ball and the tackler has already committed the ref normally lets it slide....
You should also check out nigel.Owens(now retired but greatest rugby union referee)
I love women's rugby.
100,000 !!!!!! I knew you could do it.
Thank you Scott (:
So many of those hits are tougher than NFL, I have to watch some of your action videos twice. One to see the content, Two to watch you watch the content. I guess that’s why it’s called reaction videos.
Analytics ✌️😎
The last woman's World cup final was exceptional
Any tackle where your arms go around a persons neck or toward the head are highly Illegal to the point where you'll be sent off for the entire game. The rule is your are to tackle at the waist or below when using arms to grab and you can shoulder people if contact is made from your shoulder to theirs.
My favorite response, “OH is that a _(man)__?” Maybe not?
Any contact above the shoulders is illegal, so that would include hair obviously to avoid head and neck injuries, the tackle where one lady picked up the other and dumped her on her head is also illegal for the same reasons, both offences result in a penalty being awarded to the other team and the offender either being sent off the field for 10 minutes if it is very minor or accidental or more usually sent off for the rest of the game and disciplinary action taken including fines and/or bans for future games, the very worst can be life bans although those are rare. Other examples of illegal tackles are when you don't use your arms i.e shoulder charges, using your foot to trip the player, tackling a player without the ball, and tackling a player who is in the air and tackling a player from an offside position.
Watch the final of the last women's world cup. Or watch the men's 2015 Japan Vs South Africa game. Both are amazing games
Regarding training regime/regimen and ability to lift above own body weight?
It is an action that is made much simpler through understanding physics moreso than physical training as when two or more bodies are in motion it is easier to deflect their trajectory with minimal force.
Training physically really offers fitness and stamina overall moreso than strength, everything else you need to succeed is all in your head!
There is a mixture of different codes on display in this video, rugby, severns, and league. Some of the hits from the league clips wouldn't be allowed in rugby or severns. This is not to take anything away from any one of them, but just to indicate that different sports are being shown.
You can only tackle the player with the ball, a lot of the tackles in this video are now illegal, no contact with the head at all. Continous play is normal if there are no errors or infringements these sequence's of play can last double digits of resets and go again.
Plays/runs are referred to as mine breaks, because they break through the defensive line.
Tackles must be not over the shoulders or on the head. Tacklers just wrap the player they tackle, you can't shoulder charge or stiff arm or clothesline.
Yes, you can only tackle the ball carrier
There is also.a women's world cup and international sevens circuit everybyear.
Wow! I haven't heard Wesley Willis since his early days with tracks like "I Wupped Batman's Ass". It's awesome to see how much he's grown as an artist.
Nothing above the shoulders in our game pretty sure birds'd be same-same so defo no grabba d plaits 😂👍🏻
NZ All Blacks are my team. Be sure to watch their pre game Haka.
Played this once in secondary school. Almost lost an eye. Never played again.
valid reasoning
if you're going to check out some women's rugby... I highly recommend the 7's side. much faster than 15's. Aussie's, Kiwi's, Canadians all great teams
Entirely unrelated book recommendation, I just finished Shirley Jackson's novella "We Have Always Lived in the Castle," if anyone is looking for something strange, eerie, very funny, and beautifully written.
Just put it on my reading list!
I haven't seen much women's rugby, but the England v France 2023 Six Nations match was a belter. Great rugby and what we would call "a game of two halves". The full match is available on RUclips, but you would be better off with the highlights video which is about 6 minutes long on the Guinness Women's Six Nations channel. I find women's rugby interesting as you don't have many sports where women get to compete that physically against one another. One of the England players, Marlie Packer, looks like a young Mum that you would see waiting to pick up her kid from school, and there she is powering through a whole group of opposition players. Quite a site to behold!
Never compare your funny American football with a real fight sport like rugby.
Next up... Lingerie Football League
In all contact sports where you expect to get hit , you accept it and try and walk it off . You dont want your opponent to know much it hurts . These are tough women . There's no where to hide on a rugby field .
The girls are lovely , spirit , commitment , pride....... go girls go
P.S. in rugby if you see a couple of your opponents bracing to flatten you , throw the ball to your mate ..who get flattened into the turf
it's called an hospital pass
There are both Rugby Union and Rugby League shown here. Similar games but different rules.
England and New Zealand rugby final
Yes Tendrils. Ruggers
the "gazelle" is Portia Woodman - one of the greatest nz female rugby players ever
You can only tackle someone with the ball. Not allowed to tackle above the shoulders. You're supposed to use your arms to wrap around them as oppose to just ramming them with a shoulder barge. Flipping them upside down will get you red carded. You can tap legs/ankles but you can't pull hair. You have to pass backwards and if the ball goes out of bounds then the team who touched it last or is still holding it is at a disadvantage for the throw/kick in. The closer to the middle you touchdown the easier the angle of the kick will be
MMA can be brutal, but rugby, holy smokes! Toughest, most athletic women in the world! Pay these ladies!
They do pay them...with money generated by the men's game.
@@tinymahuta I couldn’t care less where it comes from, those ladies are HARD!
@@graveyardprospecting Hard? Any decent boys school 1st XV would dominate any international women's team. If you think that counts as hard then you're easily impressed.
@@tinymahuta lol. I know men are more athletic you dope, I’m just saying that they are engaging in football without pads, and the tackles they make would be illegal in the NFL, and I’d wagers neither you nor I would survive many hits those ladies are taking. Now settle down, men are better at sports. Go back to trolling people who might care about little boys with inferiority complex’s.😂
Nothin' better than after a game sitting in the clubrooms with the opposition having a few beers & laughs after Smashing them & gettin Smashed by them
lol omg Wesley Willis. I first saw him probably 25 years ago when he had a song called 'Alanis Morissette', it was ridiculous, but it became a family classic because of how crazy it was. I'm sure though he was taking the whole thing seriously as it was his artistic expression but it's fair to say it was an amateurish video and performance.
I saw a little documentary on him and his life struggles, good on him for doing what he loved. He was definitely an odd character.
It's just strange to hear someone mention his name, this is the first time I've heard someone else talk about him.
You almost said "Is that a Man?" 😂😂 Maybe not 🤪 caught ya I thought so too
Reaction suggestion for a video you could make really interesting and entertaining: anything.
The training, is as you said cardio and weights but with a lot of endurance work. You have to run for 80 minutes and, unless you are at the elite level, there is little subbing on and off. You are usually only replaced if hurt. Practice training is also practicing technique , tackling, line outs, ruck and maul, moves (plays for an NFL fan) and, my favourite as an old prop, an hour or two on the scrum machine. That's a whole different world.
You have to run, jump, shove, tackle, fend, etc for 80 minutes. Running is but one element of the fitness required.
Womens Rugby is a lot like mens Rugby used to be in the amateur era when I played. It was much more exciting and varied play then.
One of the training sessions we used to do involved picking up one of your team mates and sprinting the pitch, then they would pick you up and sprint back. Then you would down a pint and do it again.
If one player was too slow then the coach would make the whole team sprint a lap around the edge of the pitch.
We used to do training sessions that were twice as physical as a match. So that the match would be a lot easier.
I prefer women's rugby to men's nowadays. It is much more like 1970s rugby which, to my mind, was the best era for the men's game. I totally agree with your comment.
The NRLW has highlights etc from it's season it's the premier woman's rugby league competition in world
The channel is youtube.com/@NRLW?si=bo4wkxgPLhlm0Fw_
Have been to every Newcastle Knights game since they entered comp and have been outstanding and crowds have responded to team worth checking out
Hair pulling, clothes lining neck or head hit illegal
Ball carrier only to be tackled as many can bring them down as necessary! Especially as you get close to try line!
