that was an excellent episode … I thank the owner and Capt for allowing you to film that beauty and share a part of that world with us
Colin, it is truly scary how complicated a modern superyacht is. I'm a car guy, and it makes troubleshooting a car look like a cake walk. I can't imagine how hard that thing is to work on when something goes wrong, big thumbs up to you for being able to make that ship run.
I had similar thoughts - clearly takes a very specific type of person to do this type of work!
If your a car guy, you prob have the chops to be a boat guy. You just have to learn the systems. It’s like a car writ large. A big plus is all the sensors aboard that tells you exactly what happening right?
Awesome video. I was a Craftmaster in USN on 135 ft LCU. Same deal with me and Cheng (chief engineer) need to be on same page ALL the time. Surprised you don't have inflatable boots on the shafts for fixing the seals. Don't have to go swimming and get wet either. Cheers.
I'm actually so relieved to see that you have visible tattoos.. I've been applying to yachting jobs but been so worried about my tattoos! I'm a marine biologist, divemaster, yoga teacher and masseuse with luxury resort experience, so I kinda figured I'd give it a shot :) Thanks for this very informative video!!
I love your realism. Loved seeing how the other half live, but thats not reality. Parlay is.
I loved it , it took me back to when l was 29 working as Engineer/Dive Master on the 110ft live aboard dive cats working out of Townsville & Port Douglas....
JUST FANTASTIC...BRILLIANT...cheers
Colin, Thanks for sharing, great to watch from a 58 year old retired contract rig welder from Bakersfield, CA which proves anyone can enjoy what you do. Reminds me when i was in high school and college building fiberglass molds, mandrels to build under 10 and 50 thousand gallon tank for gas station.
Nailed it! Thanks for giving us a in-depth glimpse of working on a super yacht. Wow...that engine room was next level!
Really interesting episode enjoyed that thank you 🙏👍👍🇬🇧
Fabulous boat. Great vlog yet again. Now you can get on with your restoration work 😎
That was great to watch, really enjoyed the tour and info!
Cheers
yo Parlay, love the videos, heading out for my first season as a deckhand on a superyacht next year and just wanna say your videos have really helped. Keep it up!
Loved that! Great episode and really shows off what you do. Just found you and making my way through each episode. Keep up the good work
Incredible world there is in unexpected places. Thnx m8 for sharing and all your efforts put into it. Cheers!
LOVE AND GRATITUDE!!! WISH I COULD MEET YOU!! YOUR EXCEPTIONAL YOUNG MAN!! I'VE NEVER SAILED BUT YOU HAVE MADE ME WANT TO!! IT'S ALL ABOUT THE ❤️ IM NOT YELLING BUT EASY FOR THIS 61YR NOT TECH SAVVY!! LOVE
Excellent video! Thanks for the peek behind the curtain
Excellent video and description of the working environment on a super yacht !
Tony & Susan here, sorry to hear you had to get a real job , but a cool job. Merry Christmas. we are off kiteboarding this Christmas break. Take care
Watching your older episodes. Will get to your new ones. Working my way forward. Only way to go! Forward. Not backwards.
Lot of things to care of and big responsibility. Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
At 17:09 there are cloud formations that I've never seen the like of. Stunning. Glad I happened upon your channel. You tell a compelling story. subscribed.
Wow the systems on this boat are crazy! So much engineering behind it & super interesting to see. Thx for sharing 🙂🙌👍
Glad I saw this , wasn’t expecting. I follow Parlay so laid up after procedure.
I loved ur laugh at when unopen the door and u had ur sticker on it. Awesome I love it bro u giving giving me so many ideas and such inspiration hope one day to meet u bro
That was a great video thank you for sharing your back ground history in all the workings of a super yacht I found this very interesting🤙
Jeff Spicoli finally found the big wave -awesome dude!
Well done! Captain Rick mentioned you in his latest video . Your correct about the regrets. Your doing something I regret not doing.
.
Great video, really interesting. Thanks fella.
Congrats bro! Fair winds and calm seas back to Parlay and the pups! OMG they gonna lose it when papa shows back up!
Hope my Sunshine State treated you well! Cheers from USA!
Just changed my seals yesterday, did the haul at La Ceiba shipyard. That extra seal on the shaft was cool! Great to see the JOB.
Really enjoyed that video, great insight into a world I knew nothing about, my general knowledge has just gone up another notch. Thanks colin.
Oh God that bring back memories! I used to love getting calls to come & letter up the dinghies, water sports, transom-anything for sprucing up before Season and then at the end of the day eat with the crew and swap stories.Crew changes fast so it's always good to keep in contact with people-never know when a position will open up!
Thanks Colin, great video!
Good job Colin! Interesting to see behind the scenes.
Wow, that leaking shaft seal was nuts. I guess that's why they pay you well to do what you do Colin!
Hard to believe a $25 seal can bring her to a halt
@@Drvanosdrand If you think anything on that boat is $25, you're a nutter!
@@Frindleeguy I'm in the heavey equipment business i assure you it was less that 100
@@Drvanosdrand Heavy*
And on my 310ekp you'd be right. But that's a wire reinforced gasket for a 19" pss stuffing box. That box is $4500 and replacement gaskets are well over $250 each. Hard to get the exact price as they are special order.
Here are some keys. The words "marine", "custom", and "superyacht" in the same sentence, nothing is similar to anything in your world.
That dining room table, for instance, is $600,000. Plus the chairs.
Whole other world out there brother.
When does the next "spare" seal get put on the shaft? Next time there is a major overhaul?
I’m glad you didn’t leave below deck sailing yacht ⛵️🌊🐟🐠
Amazing boat. I can't even imagine that kind of money.
I’m new to your channel and a smaller tonnage captain slowly working my way up, just trying to do as many deliveries as possible on as many different vessels as possible!
I want to say what a great video and super informative as I seriously am trying to learn as much as possible in the engineering department! You did a super great job just showing us around a super yacht engine room and what things do what, plus the shaft seal repair, didn’t know you could do that!!
I know you are a busy guy, but if you ever see a need by viewers, I’d love to see in depth how all those items in engine room work, maintaining etc?
Keep up the great work!,
Wow! That dingy up top deck has a 300 hp motor 😆
We all watched the video together in the crew mess at lunch and really enjoyed it 😃
Dude.... awesome video! Tho Can’t wait to see you guys out on parlay ASAP!
Thanks for this!!! Amazing stuff
Fantastic video Colin. Great to see how the top 1/4 of 1% live.
Super cool. I had a funny French friend who was a super yacht captain... before he became a Burning Man freak. He grew up in South of France and became known by "sailing" half sunk ships back to port. He ended up getting his helicopter license as well which put him in charge of the bigger yachts with helipads on them. Smart move. Unfortunately he died a few years ago piloting a small plane at a festival. RIP Roch.
Well done mate! See ya out there. Brady
Brady your videos are really good. Love the content. My wife and I watch you guy all the time for years. I am 70 and she is very disabled. We would love to travel but are stuck at home, you are one of our eyes to the world thank so much. Hope your brother and Karen are doing well we haven't hear much. Tell Blue "Oi" for us.
@@gtmorgan6864 god bless you both
I know this is a old video but I really appreciate you posting it. Marine Engineer but I work on the commercial side of maritime. Have always wondered about the country club crewing side. Sometimes the rich can be pretty mean, and without a union you're on your own against the kings. Although the public is sometimes terrible too. Love the channel and all the content, hoping for the best on your circumnavigation party cruse! The canal was awesome and sad at the same time.
Great episode!
I was first on Patreon. 2nd here. Great vid Colin, cheers Brother.
Fantastic video Colin, like I mentioned once before was in the Merchant Navy a lifetime ago but this video has me wanting to sign up again.Age and Wife will stop me though.
Great Video explaining the inner working off crew and duties of an Engineer.
Cool info on the 2 generators. Glad there’s water treatment. There’s a lot to know on the ship. I can barely put together a coffee table.
Nice to get an insight on what you have done and doing to fund your dream ! Choice bro
All the general questions answered, an extra shaft seal mounted right on the shaft is a smart idea. I liked the salary chart because I had no idea...

Wow, why didn't I know you had a channel? Just saw the latest Delos and thought I knew that face. Recommending this video to my missus as she loves BDSY ❤👍
What a dream job & lifestyle you have worked hard to learn ve, wish I was smart enough when I was younger to do this
Colin Man you nailed it. I always wondered what about what ,,on one of them there little boats.. Just jumped on a month ago and man your a little me back when I was a yut ,, Carry on be safe about it..
So interesting! Great job...
Good stuff Colin. Thanks. Not too unlike the airline I flew for.
Dang they must be very successful! Cool boat and interesting work!
Commercial grade Bentonite will stop water under pressure, we use to seal underground carpark panel walls while in construction. Thanks for an interesting show you produce.
Really cool! I lived in Fort Lauderdale for 6 years. I rented an apartment on the intercostal, would see those super yachts go by all the time. Only got to go inside one of them once!
You got the life brother👊 I say that but I know its not always great. Take care guys👊
Great video. Cook getting a different look at what you have done.
Great video!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Carry some house/construction window install flashing tape. Much much better at sealing than duct tape.
Also in oil/gas I find I get own room as a mech. Nice to be appreciated (a wee bit anyway😂). Good vid
You certainly had some nice digs on that yacht to stay in.😊
As you said, you simply cannot quantify the value of what you have achieved. In other words, you got a great deal, you all built your dream and now you are living it! It's called priceless!
Hi..great vid! Captain Rick ordered me to come over and take a peak. Looking froward to seeing more vids on your recovery boat! PEACE OUT!
Thanks Colin, this is one I had been looking forward to ever since you mentioned it.
Great one mate the folk that give the thumbs down must have sad lives
Thats was a great share, I want to go grind and lay some fiberglass with you and the gang on your projects.
Another great vid brother! Loved seeing the behind the scenes of what makes a superyacht so amazing and as always, it's the people. Can't wait to see how Parlay is progressing. Proud of you brother! Talk soon.
Great to see another JAFA getting stuff done Colin
Nice video! Interesting stuff 👍
Good one colin you the man
Dude I love watching your footage! Awesome bro! Thanks so much for sharing!
I've seen a few of these in the Fort Lauderdale area, and always wondered what kind of crew work on those boats and the guest charting the boat. Great video. Fair winds
Great video
Super interesting, thanks !!
It is definitely another world. I'm going to buy an extra lottery ticket this week. Thanks for the tour.
I wanna follow in your footsteps so badly brother. The sea is calling my name and it's hard to ignore her anymore
Nice work!!
Heyyyyyyyy Matty you legend. Love from Kwagga
Really great background to what you do when you and Jamie are not laying up glass and resin. Not sure which I’d rather be doing. 😎
Fascinating episode Colin. Love the final out takes. 🤙🏾🙏🏿
Parlay will give people much more pleasure in her life .......
"So ya both fit in there fine then" ahaha great insightful video, thankyou!
Really interesting to see, if I could afford....nup! Too big! I’ve worked as dive master/engineer on a 80’ live aboard dive charter, out of Cairns. It’s hard long confined work and still be the best job I’ve had! Thanks for sharing and safe return to Palay. Merry Christmas 🎄
Very cool yacht, thanks for the tour.
That's a pretty sweet career path. Love it.
Awesome video! So cool to see the workings of a superyacht! Thanks Colin!
Great stuff.
good content make more of these
That thing is MASSIVE!!! It boggles my mind that people can afford this stuff
I work as an automation engineer for a company that designs the electrical cabinets/automation on big ships and yachts. It is fun to see how a yacht looks like from the inside. I usually don't get to see that.
Do more of these 👍
Sweet gig man
The super yacht you mentioned was built in Mississippi. You also mentioned "Trinity" which happens to be a boat yard on Seaway Rd, Gulfport Mississippi. I have friend that I worked with updating drawings used to build The DDG Naval destroyers. He went on to working in the private sector where as I stayed with the Naval contract.
That was really interesting Colin. Thanks for sharing. the outtakes was cool too.
Great video!
