Forgive me what is the point to this story? What happened? Did this lady suffer through 15 pregnancies? She sought pain relief?

it seems once she knew it wasn't life threating, 3/4 of the pain disappeared.

The message is that the Rabbi was aware of a disease which was very rare and unknown, more than that, The Rabbi knew the cause and was able to give the right advice to help this family to have a normal life, despite of this disease
