I just made this Pak tong gou , tastes so nice but not perfect yet. It doesn’t rise till the top but happy already. Is high heat can be the reason? One thing I forgot to put the oil . I don’t use alkaline water to my liking I like the sour taste of Pak tong gou .will try again with my left over dough starter. Thank you for the detailed steps and the recipe

I'm also a moslem,I'm from Indonesia. As long as I know rice wine yeast isn't haram. We call it ragi in Indonesia and we use it to make sweet fermented gluten rice(tape).

@@KathrineKwa Hi Kathrine. Wouldn’t this be too strong of 1 tsp baking soda + 1 tsp water? Not only that these both together don’t even add up to 1 Tbsp of alkaline water that we needed.

Why do you add corn flour and tapioca flour? Does it give the kuih a bouncy chewy texture?
