Is Yamaha Genos1 worth buying now there's lots of second hand ones around?

- Ive had lots of emails and messages asking if Genos1 is now dead and history.. well, in this video I take a look at the Genos1 and see if it really is a instrument of the past or if it has still cuts the mustard when compared to other keyboards.

My sister has owned the Genos sine 2020 and I played it sever times ... I have the Yamaha Genos 2 and yes, the difference in both sounds and style are miles ahead. Thank you once again Leigh for your outstanding insight of this wonderful professional arrangement keyboard by Yamaha.
The genos 1 is a brilliant piece of kit, and usually very well looked after. If you're a home player it will serve you for many years. My music school has a PSR 3000 which still sounds amazing.
Excellent article. I was thinking of exchanging my Genos 1 for Genos 2 but I think I tend to 'jump the gun' when a new keyboard comes out [I was the same when a new organ came out]. Been playing since 1969, and this instrument is certainly the best I have ever owned. Your article has helped tremendously in saving me a couple of thousand pounds and sticking with Genos 1. Thanks for your honest opinions on this and all your previous articles.
I have part exchanged my Tyros 5 (76 key) for the Genos 1 it arrived this morning but because of work being carried out on my home I haven't been able to unpack it yet so looking forward to later this evening! I've subscribed to your channel so hopefully I will be able to pick up the different features and sounds of my new keyboard.

Definitely worth it goes on and on and on. Not only the genos but the sx keyboards too. I enjoyed it.
Had my genos 1 just a couple months now. Epic!!!! Recording awsome assassin's creed type music on it. Love the orchestral sounds.
I struggled with this question for a while as a Genos 1 owner. Came to inescapable conclusion. Im not fed up of it by a long shot.
The Genos 1 is the most powerful keyboard I ever owned I got it on purpose when the G2 came out the guy was in a bind he wanted to upgrade and I helped him so he gave me a great deal.

What a Piece of kit that was, Tyros 4, loved that Keyboard to Bits, Now i Have An SX900, And A Yamaha 950,

I have a Genos 1 in my home... I find the sound quality out of my high quality headphones is far, far superior to the sound from the Genos speaker set in my small room. Are you able to suggest better sound speaker options? ..... I don't need volume, rather improved quality of sound
Absolutely. Get a pair of Yamaha HS80. They are stunning
How would you rate the sounds compared to the sx900 ?
My question as well, bought sx900 in 2020 and thinking of upgrading.
The Genos uses the same AWM sound chip as the SX700/900. The Genos has more quality SA2 articulation voices and styles. I think the CPX Pianos sound more richer on the Genos but having owned an SX900 for a few years I cant let go of mine, although if I did go for a Genos then it would only be for the improved aftertouch keyboard and nothing else. I have many voice and CPX piano expansion packs on my SX900 that make it a real baby Genos.

in what way? The genos really handles Wav files more than MP3
Than you for replying Leigh. I hadn’t found anything showing how to use a purchased “karaoke” type backing to play/sing along to in a live gig.

Does the geno1 have speakers? If not what are you using?
Yamaha HS8 speakers.
