One of Burch's favorite memories is with Taproot. Today Alexis reacted to Poem, a huge hit for them and an amazing song. #taproot #poem #90smusic

So you CAN teach an old dog new songs😂 I had never heard of this band or this song before today. As for seeing great bands at small venues, back in the late '80's/early '90's, the Raleigh/Chapel Hill area of N.C. were hotbeds of music and new bands and there is a small club in Chapel Hill called The Cat's Cradle (700-750 people) that booked many of them. I saw Nirvana there in Oct. of '91 just before their Nevermind album took off and saw Corrosion of Conformity there and at other small venues in the area before they hit it big, but they were from Raleigh. Thanks for turning me on to a new band. 🙏✌️

Bands like this in this genre really benefit from live shows! Because of the story you told! They don’t have the heavy following like others that are in different genres, but the following they have will die for their bands lol and they’re so good at their craft that seeing them live shows you that they aren’t just leaving on the production crutch from studios

I know how you feel Burch...I saw Filter open for White Zombie WAY back in the day. I had only heard "Hey Man, Nice Shot" on the radio a couple of times. They were completely amazing in the LIVE show, but I really couldn't get into their music after that. Kind of a weird phenomenon. I was also thinking, as I was watching the reaction that Alexis would probably LOVE Breaking Benjamin's "Diary Of Jane"...Just a thought...Much love to y'all!!!

I was trying to get with one of my friends twin sister and she was really into taproot. So naturally got concert tickets right? It was a good concert not great but good. But anyway started buying albums. (Yes, you had to go to an actual store.) so started listening and their non-radio stuff is honestly really good. Some can get a bit whinny but overall really got into them for a bit. Just happened to think of her so had to bust out some nostalgia. Anyway in case you’re interested, never got with her😢. We ended up being really close friends for many years so thanks taproot!

I had a similar experience with a band called Animal Bag in the early mid 90s great show in a very large bar/small hall. Small crowd 2 sets and they just hung out in between and after like a local band but they had a top 50 hit.

I forgot about this one. It was in heavy rotation on the local station 106.5 The End back in the 2000's. Our alt rock station. Ever heard of Jimmie's Chicken Shack? They had this one semi-hit around the same time called high. I remember this song and that one being played a lot back then.

I just posted some images of Quite Riot at Tsunami Beach Club in Sanford from that same time frame.

Awesome live band. I have seen them a couple of times in Pittsburgh PA. They have a few songs I like, but this one is the chart topper. Skillet is pretty good for a christian rock band as well. If the copyright gods allow you to. You really need to get into some Shinedown. Awesome band and great vocals. Their cover of Skynard's Simple Man will blow your mind. Other then that. Sound Of Madness or even their first it 45 would all be great places to take that trip.

Taproot were one of those bands that started good, got really good, then lost it. Welcome, from which this track came, was their high point for me. I particularly like the track Fault. Another band in a similar vein and followed a similar trajectory of 'good/very good/ lost it' were Stabbing Westward. Their album Darkest Days is packed with great stuff, my favourite being On Your Way Down.
