It’s funny, I live in north west Oregon, and I see a buddy of mine that we logged together, god years ago and he’s in the background of the bar scene around 10:50 seconds haha. Him and his wife moved over to your neck of the woods to log, after bein here for a long time!! Good memories. I saw him laughing, and I could hear it in my head. Contagious laugh he’s got haha!
Oh trust us Mr. M, we could see the spectacular scenery through the smoke much more effectively than we could film it. We will certainly be back some day in better conditions.
Beautiful area. Pleasant place to spend a few days without the smoke. That one buck looked like he was having a hard time breathing. It would be nice to have one year without a wild fire.
What a beautiful place to visit, thanks for sharing. Darn smoke and fires....we live in northern California and our summers have been bombarded with fires and smoke for the last 4 years

"You want me to build a road down to the River? Are you kidding me?" said the bulldozer operator to the road planner. I can only imagine how challenging that was, let alone you driving down that trail they call a road. Thanks for taking us along with you.
@jack frost aah, sorry I missed that. 😁 Nope, we never really got into the ATV side of things. I'll either off-road in my truck, or won't if it's too much for it.
We love camping in the Wallowa's! It's a gorgeous place. It's too bad you were there when it was filled with smoke. But, we've had smoke here (North Idaho) for 1.5 months. It's unreal. Can't wait for it to lift. It's great you saw some wildlife!!!! That was cool.
Hey Marc, just so you know, we are currently in Joseph, Oregon. I only scheduled a few days here because I remembered your episode about 8 months ago. It’s currently cold here but the air is crystal clear. Thanks for the advise, and I’ll be visiting the Stein Distillery tomorrow👍.
We drove to Joseph for the day last summer, maybe 6 weeks before the summer's California's fire filled the west coast with smoke, a lovely little town indeed. Another thing we did do along the American Scenic Byway 200+ mile loop was camp on Snake River Canyon pullout NE of Baker City for 3 nights. Great location, but with a couple mid to heavy nights of wind, so worth it though just for the location, even had fairly good cell, maybe not enough for work. Sorry that you guys ran into smoke, it seems to be an almost every year occurrence now days. Thanks for another excellent informational, entertaining video, that tells us so much more about an area than most of us find on our own.
Thanks for the tip Dirk! And thanks as well for your kind words. You've given us yet another place to explore the next time we wander up that way. And indeed, it's a shame but true that these days late summer anywhere in the northwestern quadrant of the US is almost guaranteed to have smoke to dodge.
@@GrandAdventure awesome. Can’t wait. Most of our travels are in the central and west side of the State so looking forward to seeing some of the eastern parts. Take care and safe travels.
Hi Marc, we missed the Premier of this video again. But we just watched a replay. Given the obstacles before you this week, you presented a wonderful glimpse of Joseph, OR and the area. Just enough to encourage us to visit here too! As for encouraging travel, we will soon be heading out on the road again. We normally take two 4 month trips a year. Been idle since December 2019. I’ve been a serious (non professional) still image photographer for over 50 years. Your drone footage has inspired us to purchase a drone, and even a GoPro. While I have no hopes for now of equaling your cinematography and vlogs, I will try and present to family and friends content worthy of their time. Thank you!
You're much too kind, Gerald - thank you! We're confident that your own efforts will exceed ours, and we look forward to enjoying your efforts. Safe travels back on the road!
Thank you Marv! We always try to match the mood of the soundtrack to the mood of the video segment. We also caught a glimpse of what the area truly looks like on the evening we arrived in Joseph, which gives us more than enough motivation to return. That evening just never made it on camera.
Hey Marc, We were suppose to be in South Lake Tahoe this past week, but because of the big fire that was coming, we left on Monday and came home for a “staycation”. Lately our summers here in California have been this way; lots of fires and smoke. Liked your little campground, especially the privacy fences between the sites. Looked like you folks had a cozy spot. You know you’re in a little town when everyone parks diagonally on Main Street. That’ how the town I grew up in use to be. 🙂 Exciting run down to Snake River. I can see making that mistake. Actually I think I have. Totally understand the music match with it, but it was the first time I ever had to turn the volume down. I guess I wasn’t in the mood. 😬 Somehow I got the strong impression that Patricia didn’t want to be in this video. 🤔 Thanks for sharing... Ram 👍🏼👍🏽
Great to hear from you as always, Ram! It's unfortunate but true that this is how summers have turned out lately. Not just in Cali, of course, but anywhere downstream in the smoke plume. We've been steadily heading south and finally escaped it by the time we got near Vegas. It's so wonderful to see blue sky again! Good call on avoiding SLT, they're in a world of hurt right now. Hope you enjoyed that staycation instead. We were downstream of the spoke plume from the Caldor fire as we camped near Austin, NV this past week. We arrived last Sunday night and while things were fine on arrival, we awoke Monday morning to the smell of a campfire...but not from a campfire. Dale and Pat bailed in the morning for SLC. By the time I was done with work we too packed up and headed south to Pahrump. It was that intense. Not what we planned on, but like your staycation sometimes you have to just roll with the punches. And what ever gave you that idea about Patricia's desire to be filmed? 😂
We spent 3 weeks tooling around Eastern Oregon last October...Wallowa Mts area was just one of our many stops. It was smoke free that first, and only day. That 1st day, I think it was a Wednesday, we checked out Joseph. All the street trees were in their beautiful Fall glory. It was so breathtaking! However you couldn't spend your tourist dollars there. 90% of the shops and restaurants were closed up tight. I'm guessing covid and mid-week resting for the shop owners? After 2 full nights/3 days, and not being able to see the Wallowas we left for the Eastside area around Mt Rainier. Clean air and rain! Yipee! Hoping you can get some clean air soon, as traveling the West in the summer is now not so much fun. Ps: I have one thing to say about that drive down to Hells Canyon. Hell no!
Great to hear from you Julie, thanks for sharing that. Like you, we arrived during reasonably clear air so we could see the area's beauty. Unfortunately, having just arrived we didn't capture that on camera. We're pretty certain it was Covid in your case, for the town was hopping all week during our stay, even midweek. We're still in the smoke (this episode was filmed several weeks ago), but as we work our way through Nevada north to south over these next couple of weeks we should finally be out of it.
Thanks J&G! Eastern Oregon isn't what most folks think of when they think of Oregon, which is usually filled with mental images of the coast or the Cascades. By contrast, the eastern half is predominantly high arid desert, which we'll be showcasing over the next couple of episodes.
Hey Marc! What a beautiful area! When the smoke clears, it will be even more beautiful! The only thing positive that will come from the fires is the new life that will flourish when they are put out. At least the 🦄 has survived!
Wildfires are of course part of a healthy ecosystem, it just sucks being downstream when you're trying to see new places and film. We'll definitely return.
Hey, Marc. We can’t wait to get out west- hopefully next summer. Looks amazing in Oregon. Sorry about the smoke. Things just keep getting crazy. When will be able to relax again? The park looks like nice big spots with a privacy fence. And add deer? ❤️ Looks like a cool town with plenty of places to get a bite and a drink. I’d love to see on a giant unicorn 🦄 😅 We love Campnab! That’s one narrow road to Hells Overlook. Yikes 😳 We hope the fires are under control and everyone is safe 🤗 Alice
Thanks Marc, I thoroughly enjoyed it regardless of the smoke. You actually had a few days where it cleared out. Some days more than others. So it wasn't a complete wash by any means. The town was great, as well as the RV park you stayed at. Loved the color and lighting in those images... Some of the lighting was interesting because of the smoke. Some of the lighter smoke days had that effect where the sun casts a slightly yellow hue from the sun sneaking through. I remember that from skiing in partly snowy partly sunny days. I know you know what I'm talking about. It changes the whole mood of skiing. Other shots that showed partly obscured mountains had a kind of mysterious look to them providing that the foreground and midground was mostly clear and visible. Sometimes increased particulate can do interning things with the light in images. However, that's mostly at sunset hours providing there isn't too much particulate. You will sometimes get some great orange sunsets. The best are sunsets reflecting off lakes from the far side of the lake, facing the sunset. Gord
All very true, Gord. Thanks so much, glad that you enjoyed it! Coincidentally we're presently in the very situation described in your last paragraph, camping on the east side of a lake and watching the sun set across the water. With the smoke it's positively spectacular.
Nice video Marc, too bad you had to endure all that smoke, your campground looked really cozy, the road down to the snake River looked a little sketchy, joseph was a nice place too, hope the air didn't smell as bad as it looked, stay safe
That's too bad about the smoke but looks like there was still a lot to do in the area. We're planning to visit a bit later in the fall and hoping some of the smoke will have cleared. Thanks for the preview! That was quite the road down into the canyon!
There's a TON to see and do in the area, we're certain that you'll enjoy it -- and you'll almost assuredly have clearer air by then, too. Happy to provide the preview.
That road in and out of the canyon looked like real Grand Adventure.. My winery hangout became a harvest host so I've been enjoying conversation with the travelers. I find a way to get GA in as a great way to find great destinations. Thanks GA
10:30 Lol your wife really does not want to be on camera. Puts on sun glasses indoors, then hood of the coat and turns away. Can't see me, can't see me. 13:50 Wow those mountains. Can't wait for you to come back to it when it is not smoky. It looks absolutely epic even shrouded with the smoke fire. Thankfully this year has been more forgiving to travelers as forest fires were not as expansive as it was in 2020. When I left Moab everything was coated with smoke because of that 9000 acre fire behind Moab in Lasal moountains and then again in Silverton it sort of came and went a few times but I was spared. For those traveling cross country to see those spots... weather and environmental conditions are certainly a concern.
That's definitely the case each summer; this year, though, it came much earlier than normal. Yep, Mrs. GA is intensely private online; she gets pretty defensive about being caught on camera. 😄 And we'll definitely be back to the Wallowas. They far exceeded our expectations. We were fortunate to catch a glimpse of them relatively smoke-free on the afternoon of our arrival and we were blown away; unfortunately we were relaxing and didn't break out the cameras. Had we only known the transformation that would take place the following day.
That off-road portion at the end was exhilarating. Doing some soft roading time to time is always fun. My 4x4 came with street tires. (For towing I imagine). I’m looking forward to replacing them with some all terrains so we can venture out on roads like that.
That road was definitely exhilarating, Rabbi, to say the least. The best crossover tire that I've ever owned is the Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ. I had a set on the Tundra, and on my previous Tacoma, too. They're exceptional off-road, reasonably quiet on the highway, and load range E for towing, too. They've carried us along the White Rim and to Top of the World in Moab, and even up, over and down the massive sand dunes at Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area along the coast without any issue. The only problem is that they're hideously expensive, so when I had to replace them last fall, knowing that I was only keeping the Tundra for a while longer I went with the Nitto Grappler 2 instead to save about half. One crossover tire that everyone seems to have, but which I absolutely hated was the Goodyear Wrangler AT. Their off-road performance is only "meh," and they're horribly loud on the highway. They were on my Tundra when I bought it, and I couldn't wait to get them off.
Very enjoyable video! You always do a great job! Beautiful area, That winding road looks more thrilling than the Bear Tooth Highway which I loved driving. Take care out there.
Hi Marc and Patricia! I hope all is going well! Thank you very much for sharing another awesome spot!! Yes...the smoke is very unfortunate. But, I am pro fire for the woods; just not half of the woods at once. Holy smokes...that pizza looked great! And, what a great opportunity to stock up with the adult beverages at the distillery. You are welcome to return to Leadville now! The temps are finally at like 71 and lower for the highs and 30s for the lows. Think of all of the liaisons you could make with a unicorn floatie!! You two would be WAY popular. This area was our back up plan to purchase an Outdoors RV as they are made in La Grande; just to the west of you. But, our "local" ORV dealer in Poncha Springs CO had build slots that we could reserve (ETA- End of Sept!). Safe travels!!
Great to hear from you Alan! We too are "pro-fire" in that they're necessary for a healthy forest ecosystem; it just sucks being downwind, especially when half of the western US is downwind this year and it takes us some time to escape the plume. We also wish that we (as a people) did a better job of managing the forest fuels. But another 2 weeks and we should finally be in a part of the country that's not downwind. The weather's sounding pretty sweet in the Leadville area right now, but we finally have a purposeful direction for the rest of the season, and need to march deliberately in that direction to finish this season on schedule. Only a month away to that new RV! We'll bet you're getting antsy.
Hey Mark, love this area you are at this week. Like you said I'm sure it's way prettier without all the smoke. And I really like the upgrade from the kayak to the Unicorn raft LOL! Thank you for all the cool videos.
Yes, the smoke is really messing things up. I'm in northern California, just an hour from Tahoe. Haven't seen blue skies in a few weeks. Looking forward to the next episode. Thanks Don
Marc, great video as always. I've been to some areas of the west but you've given us so many ideas of great places to see. Can't wait to get out there again in our own RV. Thanks
I enjoyed this video, smoke and all!! When you said you would be exploring the Oregon trail , I was very excited 😁 I have been reading about the trail for many years . We have visited some very expressive ruts . See ya next week 🙂🙂🙂
See you then Pamela! Glad that you enjoyed this week's episode. We're going to start putting together next week's in the next day or so, ruts included.
Hope you do come back to the Wallowas. The tram views up top are phenomenal.Hope you had a chance to also sample the Terminal Gravity brews. Thanks Marc🌟
We were so disappointed, Gord, but as you'll see we still loved the area, smoke or not. Such a broad area of the West is positively blanketed right now.
@@GrandAdventure Yes, that's what I heard and saw from Yuan Brown's Blancolirio channel, this morning. It's completely covered up all the way up into the Hudson Bay and Northwest Passage area, based upon the prevailing jetstream. Down here in Texas we are completely out of that jet stream loop. Day before yesterday we had one of those very rare low particulate days where the quality of light at sunset was magical. Usually the humidity and particulate accounts for allot of haze throughout August. But not this year. We should have a beautiful autumn this year down here. It's still pretty warm with highs in the mid nineties. But that will change after the first week in September. Highs will be in the mid eighties by then... and slipping into the high seventies by October. Gord
@@GrandAdventure Roger that, Marc. We've had rain off and on most of the summer so everything down here is still very green... looks like spring actually. Usually August is totally burnt out with fire bans everywhere. Not this year. At least not northern Texas... October looks like it will have some rain down here... maybe six or seven days of scattered and intermittent shows in various places. Totally doable and will keep the temps very comfortable. Your experience will likely be very different from before. It won't be the usual autumn Texas brownie. Should be quite green still with some leaves turning. Leave don't really start turning here until around November. Some trees and bushes lose their leaves as early as late August. Others go in September and October. But the main event is in November. But nothing like the northeast. Plan your visit and leave some flexibility. The West Texas panhandle might be quite green this year in the highlands and mountains. Gord
@@gorrdd that's great beta, thank you. Our plan is to cross into West Texas around late September, hitting the Fort Davis area en route to the Hill Country, then Brazoria Beach and Port Aransas, before heading back through the Hill Country to Palo Duro by the end of October/early November before high-tailing it back to SLC by mid-November for ski season.
Another great episode! I’m sorry you had to deal with the smoke! My Brother and I have done some motorcycle camping all over that area another great stop would be sumpter! It’s been a tough fire season here in Oregon.
Thanks for the tip! We looked into the area around Sumpter, but with our work schedule that's going to have to wait for Starlink for reliable data. So another spot for another season. We do, however, have a couple of more eastern Oregon episodes to come before we work our way to another state. Thanks for watching!
Sorry the smoke took away some of the beauty of the area for your visit. My wife and I had a trip like that to Acadia but it was fog. We called it our 'probably' trip. Everything was 'probably' beautiful, but we couldn't see anything! I take it the shy one at lunch (10:16) is Mrs. Grand Adventure? My wife would have made me edit that out! 😂😂Thanks for the videos Marc.
Thank you for watching, Peter! Yep, that's Mrs. Camera Shy. I usually try to shoot around her, but when she's sitting in a shot or walks into it I can blame it on her. 😄 Acadia can definitely be that way. So too along the Pacific Coast where the persistent marine layer can stay put throughout much of the day.
My wife and I workamp at the Tram. Beautiful view now that the smokes cleared. I am interested in your front Tee Bar the supports your Kayaks. Could You post a couple photos? I have a front receiver hitch so it looks pretty simple. But what materials did you use??
How are you doing master Marc actually reading about history geography civilization of USA is very stunning how about traveling there unfortunately it’s impossible for us to travel but thank god the RUclips channels are as open universities so that as always iam gathering main information about places you visited briefly here it’s wallowa mountains range located in Columbia plateau of north eastern Oregon in USA northwest to northeast in southern western wallowa county and eastern union county between blue mountains to west snake river to East sometimes the range considered to be. Eastern spur of blue mountains known as alps of Oregon much of range is designated as eagle cap wilderness part of wallowa white man national forest wallowa river which flows from north side of mountain minam ever flows through west side of range
At least the RV park has fences to separate sites. Did you drive thru Oxbow Oregon on the Snake above Brownlee Res? It appears that there are several nice campgrounds along the Resv and a power company owned one in Oxbow.
We did drive through there Charles, twice in fact. Once on our way to Joseph, and again at the end when we descended that road to Hells Canyon. It would be a great area to visit as well.
Lake Joseph what happened to it. I Elk hunted there for many years in The seventies and eighties, had friends there, that’s when it was a beautiful quit few people there. I was from Cottage Grove Oregon.
Like many places Freddie, it's clearly become more popular since our college days. Still, aside from the lake we found the general area to be incredibly underutilized.
It's definitely a possibility, Landon, depending on what happens with the border and our ability to deliver reliable data for work. It's definitely on our list.
Sorry the smoke was so troubling....at least you made it before the Oregon outdoor mask mandate that kicks in on Friday, 8/27,,,,looking forward to your Oregon Trail content. Thanks for taking us along!
My wife already gave you a bad time about the pronunciation of Wallowa last week; so I won't go there today; but would encourage you to go back on your way back East. You missed a lot of spectacular sights that you would have seen on your drive around and at the lake. I have numerous photos of the area and truly believe you'd enjoy a "do over".
There's no doubt we'll be back, Herb, for we loved the area. We limited our shots in and around Joseph this week on purpose, mostly to avoid those long shots where you would not have seen what's actually there because of the smoke. We actually did and saw quite a few things and places that never made it into the video, but instead tried to focus primarily on the short shots where smoke was not as much of an issue.
@@GrandAdventure you did well (video) . I assume you're headed West to the Central part of the state & Coast next (?). We spend a fair amount of time visiting the sights in & around our state over the last 40 yrs. Enjoy... As a photographer myself; you do a GREAT drop of producing your channel.
@@herb7877 thanks so much! Actually after this episode we have to start heading south. Our travels for the remainder of this season will take us through eastern Oregon and Nevada, across Arizona and New Mexico to West Texas and the Texas Gulf Coast before deciding where to proceed from there.
The channel generates a very modest, yet incredibly important revenue stream. Sponsorship of our videos, despite the only 30-second length of the sponsor message, pays for our travel to allow us to keep bringing weekly episodes.
Wonderful look into the amazing Wallowa County. However, you're pronouncing it incorrectly. The correct pronunciation is. WUH-LAU-WUH LAKE. I know that the spelling defiantly throws one off, but it's NOT WALL-OH-WA....!
Honestly, too long a video of the trailer park. I love Joseph, fun to see the video but you focus on things that I don't appreciate .. shops, town, ... restaurants ... the wilderness is absolutely beautiful ..
I genuinely appreciate your feedback Jen, thank you very much. While we were there it was tough to film the wilderness with so much wildfire smoke. We look forward to returning when the visibility is more clear.

Please, PLEASE! PLEASE! Learn how to pronounce cities, towns, lakes and rivers CORRECTLY!! They are called the Wallowa mountains and lake. Original Indian pronunciation - wuh-low-whu! Wuh-low-whu (low as in allow). Its insulting to go somewhere and mutilate the beauty and history of a location and their historic names. Wallowa was part of the Nez Perce Indian tribe and home, led by the tribe chief, Joseph. Wallowa translated from the Nez Perce language, is "land of winding waters". Wallowa County is Chief Joseph Country, indelibly associated with a great Native American leader. Thus the celebration of Chief Joseph days in Wallowa county. Do better!! Learn and pronounce it correctly out of respect!!
Please, learn how to pronounce the names of the places you spotlight before you make these videos. It’s painful to hear you mispronounce Wallowa, repeatedly. Frankly, it’s disrespectful and would require very little effort to correct.

My kinda road! Sorry about the smoke. We've had some reprieve. It's been a bad summer! Looks like you are enjoying the rig! LOL on the raft! 👍😎🇨🇦🌲👌🐾
It has indeed been a tough summer out here, thanks Marian!
Absolutely beautiful! So sad to see all of the smoke. We’ve been to Oregon, but not that part.
Looks like a cool town with plenty of places to get a bite and a drink.
I’d love to see on a giant unicorn 🦄 😅
We love Campnab!
That’s one narrow road to Hells Overlook. Yikes 😳
We hope the fires are under control and everyone is safe 🤗
Alice
Thanks Alice! We had a great time, despite the smoke. We'll definitely return during clearer air.
When I see you have a video up,the first thing I do is hit "like",the second thing I do is add it to my trip list.thanks for all you do
Thank you so much Connie! As one of our most loyal viewers, that means a lot to us.
Enjoyed your Oregon Trail video. I will definitely check it out.
Awesome, thank you Stephen!
Thanks Marc,
I thoroughly enjoyed it regardless of the smoke.
Good evening from Nor Cal!
So sorry to see all of that smoke…looks like it would be a beautiful area to explore. Loved the video nonetheless!
@@erinroy8967 we're so grateful that you enjoyed it after all. We will definitely return to that area someday. Thanks for much for watching!
Nice video Marc, too bad you had to endure all that smoke, your campground looked really cozy, the road down to the snake River looked a little sketchy, joseph was a nice place too, hope the air didn't smell as bad as it looked, stay safe
Thanks as always Gary! Fortunately it didn't smell like it looked. It's been a crazy season out West.
@@GrandAdventure thanks, fingers crossed!
That road in and out of the canyon looked like real Grand Adventure.. My winery hangout became a harvest host so I've been enjoying conversation with the travelers. I find a way to get GA in as a great way to find great destinations. Thanks GA
Thank YOU as always J! No doubt you've been serving as the social welcoming party at that winery.
@@GrandAdventure I like to promote things that I enjoy.
Thank you Joyce! Glad that you enjoyed it, and you take care as well.
We have the same taste in back roads. That was awesome thanks for sharing that. Take care!!
Thanks CP, you too! Glad that you enjoyed.
Another great video marc... Can't wait to see next weeks video...
Thanks for coming along Tim!
Keep it up, Marc. This was another interesting edition. Stay safe.
Thank you George, you do the same!
Goodstuff Marc!!
Google maps is very bad about short cuts on skinny roads!! Always check !
Beautiful area
Thank you Greg!
Thanks for sharing your adventures. Great stuff! 👍
Thank YOU for coming along, Tom!
Did you know Walter Brennan had a ranch at the foot hills of the Blue Mountains. That’s what I was told by friends that lived there.
We had no idea, thanks for that tidbit.
Hey Mark, love this area you are at this week. Like you said I'm sure it's way prettier without all the smoke. And I really like the upgrade from the kayak to the Unicorn raft LOL! Thank you for all the cool videos.
Thank YOU for coming along with us, Bill!
Yes, the smoke is really messing things up. I'm in northern California, just an hour from Tahoe. Haven't seen blue skies in a few weeks. Looking forward to the next episode. Thanks Don
Sorry to hear that Don! You're much closer to the epicenter, so we can only imagine what it's like over there.
Marc, great video as always. I've been to some areas of the west but you've given us so many ideas of great places to see. Can't wait to get out there again in our own RV. Thanks
Thanks as always Scott! We wish you back on the road soon, we'll see you out there.
Some of those roads looked a little scary! Nothing slows you down!
Someone doesn’t like being in your videos!
LOL Kim! You noticed, eh? She prizes her online privacy. And that road was a thrill.
Haven‘t made it to Hat Point & that particular Hell‘s Canyon lookout yet & driving from Imanha slowly should be a fine excursion.
I'd think so, Peter! It's a shame that the smoke was so thick to obstruct our views.
Make that two reasons to return, Brooke, for we didn't get to Terminal Gravity either. Thanks so much for watching! Great to hear from you as always.
Great Video.
Thank you Robert!
Wallowa haze... No, wait, it's Smokey Mountains West!
Gord
Gord
@@gorrdd we'll be down in your state in October, and we're truly looking forward to it.
@jack frost hahaha! Yeah, they get a little pricey -- I have to quit that bad habit some day.
Acadia can definitely be that way.
We'll bet that the view's wonderful now, Alan! We actually did a complete video on that kayak carry setup: ruclips.net/video/N01Jhum2BTE/видео.html
Hey Khatoon! As always it's wonderful to hear from you.
Been there family lives in Oregon
It's a beautiful area, we will definitely return without the smoke.
With significant number of Mountain passes did u need to stop & let brakes cool off?
Not on these passes, Rosie. We were traveling slowly enough that it wasn't a problem.
do a trip up to alaska next summer
It's definitely a possibility, Landon, depending on what happens with the border and our ability to deliver reliable data for work. It's definitely on our list.
Sorry the smoke was so troubling....at least you made it before the Oregon outdoor mask mandate that kicks in on Friday, 8/27,,,,looking forward to your Oregon Trail content. Thanks for taking us along!
Thanks for coming along! Yep, we heard about that new mask mandate and we are grateful that we are now in Nevada. Thanks for coming along!
LOL, the mask mandate is for the city slickers west of I-5. The Free State of Oregon is east of I-5.
@@rd4660 roger that from the Republic of Texas!
Wa-llow-a Mountains 🙂
Yeah, it wouldn't be a Grand Adventure episode if we didn't mispronounce something. 😁

Its Wal lowa Not Wall owa
Yup, it wouldn't be a Grand Adventure episode if we didn't screw up a local pronunciation.
I enjoyed your video. Just an FYI, it’s pronounced, Wa-lau-uh.
Oh yeah, thank you Darleen. We mispronounce local names all the time! 😄
The narrator needs to know how to permounce the name. It's not "Walula". Try saying Wall -'owa like it's spelled.
i'm from morocco and i have always wanted to travel around the world, if only there is a way ?
Here's wishing you success in finding a way to make that happen.
Love your blog but what’s with the endless commercials n pitches? Getting to be a bit much.
The channel generates a very modest, yet incredibly important revenue stream. Sponsorship of our videos, despite the only 30-second length of the sponsor message, pays for our travel to allow us to keep bringing weekly episodes.
Sorry, for $40 / night they sure the HellO pack you in there... NO THANKS. But NICE looking place.
To each his/her own, but we felt like there was plenty of space and privacy in each site, especially with the fences separating them.
enjoyed the video but the music was over the top for me. Had to mute.
Appreciate the feedback, Jim.
So, It looks like you are staying in someone's gravel driveway
It was actually a very nice RV park, John. Quite attractive and right in town.
Wonderful look into the amazing Wallowa County. However, you're pronouncing it incorrectly. The correct pronunciation is. WUH-LAU-WUH LAKE. I know that the spelling defiantly throws one off, but it's NOT WALL-OH-WA....!
Yeah, we mispronounce local names all the time. 😄 There are plenty of commenters who took us to task over that on this video.
Honestly, too long a video of the trailer park. I love Joseph, fun to see the video but you focus on things that I don't appreciate .. shops, town, ... restaurants ... the wilderness is absolutely beautiful ..
Thank you for your post
I genuinely appreciate your feedback Jen, thank you very much. While we were there it was tough to film the wilderness with so much wildfire smoke. We look forward to returning when the visibility is more clear.

Pansies! Don't like the smoke, head east.. Wah-la-wah mountains?
Unfortunately "east" doesn't work right now: fire.airnow.gov/
Great, no one appears to bother with masks in spite of statewide mandates. Perhaps there will be more space next year when the population thins.
You are pronouncing Wallowa wrong and as a local it’s bugging the hell outta me 😂
Yep, we've offended locals just about everywhere with our mispronunciations. 😆
Please, learn how to pronounce the names of the places you spotlight before you make these videos. It’s painful to hear you mispronounce Wallowa, repeatedly. Frankly, it’s disrespectful and would require very little effort to correct.
