There she said "I heard the guy I helped break out was the leader of the Toppat clan so I busted myself out and followed him," so she thought she could take advantage of his position and take it for herself (and she did). She didn't have much of a reason to go after him in the other paths. In Free Man he was captured by the Toppats, so she probably wouldn't have been able to find him. In Jewel Baron he was just a guy, sure he stole the diamond and the ruby but idk how public knowledge that is for the public or the criminal underworld
Actually, she in fact does remember that presumably in every ghost inmate path. The only reason we don’t see her is because she doesn’t know who we are in the other paths. Except in TCW, she hears from people that Henry leads the Toppat Clan giving her a way to track him and get revenge.
I always just thought that she only found him in this timeline because he was the leader of the Toppats, in the others he was too low on the radar to track down.
Well yes and no. Remember, Ellie only found Henry in TCW because he was the Leader of the Toppat Clan. Henry was kinda hidden during the other three Ghost Inmate routes
I'm pretty sure Ellie remembers in every Ghost Inmate route but she's still locked up because you don’t help her escape, and even then, in the Free Man route, Jewel Baron route, and Cleaned 'em Out route, Ellie wouldn't know where to find Henry even if she did escape. Just because she only follows Henry in one of them doesn’t mean that she doesn’t remember in the others.
it think she would always remember it but she said "i heard he was the leader of the toppats, so i busted myself out and followed him." if henry didnt get RPE, ellie wouldnt have felt the need to follow him out, but she still remembered.

My head cannon. Henry never betrayed ellie, he left her behind, cause he was gonna return with backup from the tophats, after getting revenge, or the military after agreeing to take them out. Makes me feel better playing the game, rather than just simply leaving and forgetting her.
Telltale games are great at story telling and character development. The main thing their games struggle on is that your choices barley matter since they always lead to the same path, the games gice you the illusion of control over the game, the "blank will remember that" being a example of the illusion of choices.
The other under appreciated reference in the ghost inmate rout is the rocket, it’s a reference to kerbal space program, infact before that PuffballsUnited made “munar 1” a KSP animation.
The funny thing is how Tales from the Borderlands actually utilizes this system in funny ways. Due to the source material's more humorous tone, the game likes to fuck with this aspect sometimes and have funnier ways of having "Blank will remember that" like "Blank hopefully won't remember that" or, with my favorite instance that happens every time during Episode 3, "Handsome Jack will remember that." The reason this one is the best is because Jack ACTUALLY SEES THIS AND IS CONFUSED BY THE FACT THAT IT'S THERE!! THAT JOKE WILL NEVER NOT BE FUNNY TO ME AND THAT'S WHY TFTB IS THE BEST TELLTALE GAME IMO!
I actually know this reference because I played Minecraft Story Mode, but then they removed Minecraft Story Mode from the play store and I can't finish the game😢😢
I don't know how hard this would be to implement, but something like the Hero's Path from Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom (a line that shows up on the map tracing Link's path) or a top-down camera that records close-calls where the player barely escapes one of the monsters would be an interesting piece of post game-over content. Especially so people can groan/laugh at themselves for getting so close to finding their car again and escaping, only to see the one wrong turn that led them into panic and a game over. As interesting as this might be, of course, it's probably a later or never kind of thing to implement
TBF, there are telltale games where those messages do have an effect (example: Until Dawn, where decisions affect character relations and emotions, which affect future interactions)
