  • Södermalm is a district and an island in Stockholm, famous for gorgeous sights and interesting history...and hipsters.
The island was the second to be populated after Old Town, and turned into a poor working class residential area during the industrial revolution - but it has been gentrified since then. Södermalm still has tons of historical buildings and places, but the housing prices have skyrocketed during the last decades.
Now you can find quirky stores, art galleries, pubs and nightlife, culture, and lots more on this island. Come along as I show you some of the best parts, and tell you the story behind this interesting part of Stockholm.

@@ThreeStarVagabond Yes, not to mention convoy duties and a marker ship fo the D-day landings. She was also the stand by vessel for the Royal Yacht (Her aft accommodation and quarters were very sumptuous, being the Trinity House flagship). She used to escort the Britannia in home waters.
I commented about her on a Facebook page a few years ago and was contacted by a reporter on a Stockholm newspaper, (? Aftonblatt) and together we did an article on her and my time on her. He asked for a photo and my picture appeared with the article......Fame at last.

Late to the party but I'm too bored not to share this. The built-in subtitler reads "Södermalm" as "Sodom", as in either the judeo-christian mythical city or the famous thrash metal band. Tread lightly, you might be scorched by the flame of the lord or have your socks rocked off!
