One other hint when using the scotch brit which works great make sure your edges don’t have any nicks. If there are your hands are close to the edges and hitting it can cut you. Learned the hard way in that one
Ya!!!!
Thats a great tip man!! I have cute myself on my edges before!!
I know he showed us how, but I think I might just call him to take care of it for me since he's the Dr! I also want to see his cool Van! That thing rocks! And Jonathan, your edits are so smooth, you even make board waxing look amazing! That's why you have 10 K subscribers and are heading for 50 K! Nice job dude!
Ya better to just have him do it :)
The first step, is actually to make sure there aren't any nicks or burrs on your edges. The reason why, especially for park riders most of all, is 'cause if there are, they can scratch the bottom of the iron to the point where your iron then leaves scratches everywhere it travels up & down your board's base. I learned this the hard way, by literally leaving scratches up and down a brand-spanking-new board, and another one I have too. Then I had to take sandpaper made specifically for metal, to remove the burrs that were created in the base of the iron from going over those nicks & burrs on the edges, to flatten it out and make it perfectly smooth again, to prevent that from happening anymore, not to mention of course getting rid of those nicks & burrs on the edges before I continued any more. And if you don't catch that, you can wind up doing it to every single board or ski you wax after that, which in his case, is super important to prevent, so I'm sure he actually checks the edges for nicks & burrs before he ever waxes, or at least I'd hope so! 👍
Love the video and thanks for using Purl!!
We need a new one from the ski doc
Curious about the power tool attachment, that thing looks super helpful
Sick van set up
Solid drone shots man!
Totally huh
Board Archive Yoo tj man
Thanks bro!!!
Got two sick skis at home. I'll just have the good ski Dr examine' em. From the French Alps ( Les 3 Vallées) to Colorado
That Cosa Nostra at 0:57 is a fun board.
Thanks Doc
Goo Gone regular strength is an excellent base cleaner. That's what I use.
Tight !!!! Wax is all ways a good idea
Sick! Now i know how to wax!
And I saw for $70 on amazon purl has a whole kit with iron scraper wax and all. Great deal as well
Nice
Yeah that really it!!!
Planning to make an appt with Mike mid season for a quiver checkup ;)
+Justin Lambert heck yeah!!! That would be amazing 🙌🏼
Cool cool vid.!
I need that big stick sharpening thing. Mine is always all gummy and I’m too cheep to replace it.
THE DOC
I needed this 😂
Do it!!
You reached 10K!
Right!! So awesome!!
Does the final scotchbrite run really important?
Or end it with scrape is kind of ok, and let the nature take care of final buffing with a run down the slope ? 🤔
What’s that base grinder attachment for the drill??? Pretty please? Didn’t see it in the links.
How do I repair binding rash on the top sheet of a board prior to repainting it?
What's that brush he uses on the 0:33 mark?
I don’t have base cleaner is there something else I can use?
What was the buffer devise?
Bro did I win the givaway ......🙏🙏🙏
Any tip on how to fix rock hits? Saw the nasty rock screeches on ur board after a pow day
Fill it with ptex
Tuning yes. Waxing????… time to evolve. Phantom DPS II. Never wax your board again. One treatment cured under blue light for about $99 at various stores like REI. And because it penetrates the entire base layer of your board minor scratches are not an issue. You can still apply a speed wax over Phantom DPS if you’re that obsessive but I haven’t waxed for 2 seasons and I glide as a fast as anyone.
Thanks sooo much i just started and i got a wax kit and it didn’t come with a iron so i was making sure i could use my iron
Also how did you get the keep evolving symbol at the bottom is that a custom board
If you use your personal iron on your board you won’t wanna use it on your clothes you don’t want to rub wax into your clothes. Also my snowboard was made with the logo on the bottom. I will be coming out with my own snowboards soon.
Never been to A-basin, headed there is January! Any recommendation on runs?
+2dirtbikedudesracing the new beavers area is a lot of fun!! We made a video on it. The whole mountain rocks though. You will enjoy it!
Super helpful tips!!!! What brand of wax do you prefer when waxing your board yourself? Oh and I believe I’m first
Hanna Louise 😂
Hanna Louise wassssup!!!!!!
Josh Archer hi???
Right now I am using Purlwax. But Demon also makes really good wax!
Do you know any way to pollish out very small scratches in the topsheet? My new board has a bunch of small scratches that aren't very deep from the metal buckle on my binding strap when it bounces against my board on the way up the chairlift. Again, the scratches aren't deep at all, there is just a bunch of them in one small area. Thanks
Nope theres nothing yoy can do, you might as well throw the board in the garbage. Unless you like riding board thats all scratched up to heck.
What's the attachment he has on the drill?
Roto Brush
What’s a good temp to run the iron
Every wax has a recommendation temperature on the box 🤙🏼
I need this dude on 12/13 at Keystone. What does he charge?
Ya the price would be good to know
I believe he charges $30 for a wax. The Ski Doctor met me at my lodge and waxed my board 2-weeks ago and did a fantastic job. Board glides as if it were surfing a cloud! Highly Recommend!!! He also has a Facebook page and website if y'all want more info.
@@robion91 awesome
@@robion91 So stoked you used him and enjoyed the service! He really does do a good job!!!
What kind of material does he use to polish with the tool after scrapping the wax?
Nothing. Just the wax he applied
What I meant was after he removes the wax what material does he buff with? nylon brass or horsehiar?
@@JohnathanBuckhouse thanks for the replay also, appreciate it.
@@emmanuelgonzalez-jk7mk It will be a horsehair brush, it polishes the base.
3:29 Nah, it's intuitive to think the wax would clog up the holes in a household iron, but that's only if the wax stays solid. The iron is hot, meaning the wax melts into a liquid state causing it to never get stuck in the holes.
Great point!
So you can use a regular iron if you don’t have a waxing iron?
@@coleparz6964 a regular iron works, you just need something that is consistently warmish hot so it can melt the wax. Just make sure you don't use the iron on clothes.
