Resident '85 to 90, this brings back all sorts of memories. Thank you for posting. I wouldn't have been able to find a place to live and enjoy a great community without the OKR.
The state of it now. Breaks your heart When my nan died in '76 all the stall holders took of their caps as the funeral procession passed. Different times
Mate. It's always been a shit hole. There's a reason why it's pretty much the worst property on the monopoly board. Let's not romanticise the past with selective memories, eh?
How do you think I feel? lol, I was born 8 years earlier in 1954 at The Elephant and lived in East Street, at The Walworth Road End until, I had seen enough by 1983. That is how much it had changed by the time you were 21 from my wonderful years there. I played at Townsend for St Peters/Other Primary Schools were St Johns, St Judes, St Pauls, English Martyrs, Keyworth, Crampton, Surrey Square, Robert Browning, and Charlotte Sharman. I live in Bexleyheath in the same house that I bought in 1983. Where are you now, my friend and when did you move, please?
The Wellington became The "Henry Cooper" and I loved going to The Thomas A'Beckett and Green Man opposite The Duncow to see Groups. I moved to Bexleyheath from East Street in 1983. Did you move and where to, please?
The area around the Old Kent road has changed beyond recognition you may as well be in Bagdad or somewhere all the old families who lived there for decades and generations have been largely replaced by immigrants and were called racists because they tried to resist the great replacement and take over of their neighbourhood but sadly lost and were shipped out to Bexleyheath and surrounding areas.

Hi mate...thanks for your msg... I had to move on from East St because my parents split up.... from there I had a massive cultural shock!!!!!!... Not seen any pics of Speedman Leather's but in that row of shops was an old fashioned Woolworth's. The whole row of shops was demolished for a large Tesco. Near to Speedman was the famous Dun Cow pub now a Doctor's surgery and many more pubs along that old Pilgrims route.
What you're basically saying is that you want to be young again. Just like all the old people in 1985 would have taken the era when they were young over 1985 in a heartbeat.
@@zeddekaRubbish , I’m 35 and would rather be in 1985 OKR , immigration has ruined London to the core , if you disagree you couldn’t of been born n bred in London for generations , it’s criminal what’s gone on ..

It's called "getting old" mate. Happens to us all eventually, if we're lucky enough to live that long.
@th8257 cheers gezz... sadly that's life.... I could think that people before we were born...they hated it then ...good luck 👍
Used to knock around down there in the seventies. Mostly the Wellington. Later Lyman's. The Old Kent Rd back then, was heaven on earth. Peace.
