I just bought a 1999 Grand Edition w140, I've also looked for 10 years for one to pop here in Dallas. Watching this video is like a close relative is leaving for good its sad.
@@Fifty50Photography yes 2 owners the second owner and his son abused him, and didn't garage him where he was supposed to be, the original owner has alot of maintenance history and loved it, but these 2 guys just stopped caring for it, I already bought $700 worth of parts for maintenance major tune up overhaul, I only paid $2000 so if I spend another $4500 to make it run and look like he's supposed to, it's my duty as a man to do that, no way I can neglect or give up on my boy.
That’s awesome that you’re bringing it back to life. I hope it works out for you. That’s a pretty good deal for a Grand Edition. If you can get it all done and have around the $6,500 in it, then you will be in good shape. Not to mention the caliber of car you will have.
@@Fifty50Photography I agree, I'm divorced so whatever extra money I make I do what I want without someone yapping lol, I just do whatever I like when I feel and take care of my cars and myself, wish you the best and look forward for you to come back to the W140 it will be a blessing to have you back!
I'm looking also to ship a car overseas. I am stationed in Germany and you won't believe how expensive these cars are and/or there's none in the inventory. Nice car.
Thanks! I miss it already. Really, I would have thought they would be easy to find and at a decent price in Germany. I didn't know that. I hope you find the car your looking for!

I got them on Amazon. They are just cheap magnetic flags that stick to the hood. They work great for photo shoots but I don't know how well they would do while driving. www.amazon.com/Americas-Flag-Magnetic-Base-Flexible/dp/B005EP1VQI/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=magnetic+flags&qid=1585094174&sr=8-10
@Fifty50Photography at the moment, it's not running. She has the wiring issue, not really sure what else. Some flaws here and there. But a dandy machine indeed.i collect aircooled vw, but iv always wanted this machine in my shop.
@@marcusbrown1767 hopefully the wiring issue is not to major. It should be a fine car once it gets sorted out. You can't go wrong with an aircooled vw. They are always cool.
@Fifty50Photography agreed. Some of the parts for this machine demand silly money. But, I love this machine!!! I'm not sure why it does not have heated seats. It is long wheelbase, seats are great and firm. The rear seats are almost perfect.i belive the vacuum pump is failing, the rear door locks will not open, the soft close doors work, but the pressure isn't strong enough to hold them shut. I don't believe I can redo the wiring myself. Underneath looks clean.
@@marcusbrown1767 some parts are very expensive. It some cases it might be cheaper to buy another one to use as a parts car. That is odd that it doesn't have heated seats. I thought they all came with it. The leather seats hold up very well. I had that same issue one with the soft close doors. I disconnected the battery for about 10 mins one day to do something else. When I reconnected the battery, the soft close doors worked again. I'm sure that was a fluke and I got really lucky on that one.
I have a 1995 S420 at ~150K miles in San Diego (in VERY good condition with all features working - white with grey leather interior). What did you get and was it easy to sell? Blue book is not good, but this is too much car to sell for less than $6K. PS - good video.
Thanks! I had several people interested in my car but only 1 person ever showed up. I had it listed for about 5 months. I only got $2700 out of it because of the transmission and AC not working. I hated to let it go for that.
I loved that car. It’s in the top 3 cars I’ve owned. I sold it because the AC and transmission went out on it. I had to think long and hard about selling it. Just bad timing so I had to let it go. It was hard to see it go.
@@Fifty50Photography tell me about it watching that video was sad, I seriously felt bad for you. I hope you find one and there is some gems hidden that pop up every year so have your money ready in cash and ready to buy immediately, I found a Grand edition I nearly shit myself and drove out of town immediately and picked it up
@@Fifty50Photography it was not a hard fix was the plates got little transmission fluid on them you just need to find a good mechanic to replace connectors it's a $200 job and takes 30 minutes

Not as much as I would have liked. It was around $4k with the bad transmission.

HI! Is that 17" or 18" rims?
Hi, those were the 18" rims.
Damn they looked like 20" Carlson.
I bet every once in a while you ask yourself why the f*** did I sell it, I should have kept it.

Oh absolutely! I plan to get another some day. It’s been one of my dream cars for about 25 years. I would like my next one to be and s600.
Hi Bro. Why did you sell the car?
Hey, I sold it because the transmission went into limp mode. It wouldn't shift out of first gear.
