@Kyle Liong Car Reviews, I’ve thought about it seeing as I could sell the W203 for about 4k, but I’m kinda wanting a sporty car with a manual rather than a highway machine. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love the W140, but where I live, a smaller sporty car would be more enjoyable to drive.
Same here. We barely got roads for highway driving, and still I love the W140 for the congested city street traffic. A comfy land yacht just keeps me sane in the 2 hour, 12Km drive from work :(
I think it really depends on where you're from. If you're from Asia, like me, or Europe, the 320 is more than enough for our roads, but if you're from North America, I would have to agree that the 320 is a little too underpowered, given the amount of power you would need to safely merge onto the freeway.
I drive a S320 with only a few options in Germany and it's more than enough power. I think the S320 is the perfect engine for this car, because it's strong enough, easy and quite cheap to repair and doesn't consume that much. But only, if you don't have the ADS dampers and all that other options that tend to go defect over time. Mine has a standard chassis and be repaired very cheaply. The V8s and V12s are much more expensive in maintenance and the engines are more liekly to break down. I had a CL600 C140 before and still have a 600 SEL. They are great cars too, but the S320 is the best overall in my opinion.
I agree with you. The S320 is the best way to get into W140s without any of the complicated madness to ruin your pride of ownership hehe! Not to say the bigger engine ones aren’t a joy to drive, they sure are, but deep pockets are a must.
tbh, it is. maybe not in speedlimit countries or with mostly traffic jam but here on our Autobahn the little R6 has a bit struggle with the heavy car. not slow but to be confident on the road it needs at least a 400/420
here in my town is one of these in the backyard of a cardealer, probably supposed to be exported to africa or middle east. it's rusty all over and the body is in really bad shape. It's a diesel with over 700000km used as taxi. but the interior is still almost like new.
I think car prices there are way lower than here due to cheaper taxes. Here a decent example already costs at least about $8000. I think $8000 in the US should already get you a near perfect example.
