George originally played his Futurama guitar on this track, it was the closest thing he could get to a Fender at the time. The Jazzmaster sounds incredible!
He almost got a Strat, but was beat out by Johnny Guitar who answered the same classified ad that George did, but arrived an hour earlier. Imagine how that would have changed history if the world had seen George on a Strat on that first Ed Sullivan show, not a Gretsch.
Well Done, Thumbs up, George Harrison was only 18 when the Beatles as the Beat Brothers recorded this in Hamburg Germany. On the album I bought in late1971. on the record it's titled Cry for a Shadow, on the LP sleeve it's titled Cry for My Shadow. This is the only composition credited to Harrison, McCarney and Lennon in that order.
cool pickguard! It's funny, I was just listening to this and reading the story behind the song. Lennon and Harrison kind of made it up on the spot. It's the only song in The Beatles catalog that is credited to Harrison/Lennon. 👍
And the first thing the Beatles had ever recorded in a studio was "In Spite of All the Danger" by McCartney-Harrison. So where did all this Lennon-McCartney baloney come from ?
You are a master Tom.This must have been played frequently in their Hamburg days, especially when Hank Marvin and The Shadows were so popular in the very early 1960’s, along w the jazz standard ‘The Sheik of Araby.’ * Have you ever considered covering anything from ‘The Spotnicks’? Bo Winberg was getting some amazing tones in the early 1960’s on his homemade Swedish amplifiers.
Super gespielt Tom.
This is strange. I thought I knew the song but couldn’t place it amongst the Beatles work. Then I read a comment about Hamburg and remembered that I have an EP, I think it’s on the Polygram label, of the Beatles and, I think, Tony Sheridan. So maybe that’s where I’ve heard the song before. I must go and find the EP and see if I’m right.
bloody great. I love the Beatles but I have to say that I have never heard this song before. What album was it on, because I have (I thought), every one up to the crap pepper years. Classic surf sound. A real lesson on bending.
I think it's a fine piece of early Beatles music, and sadly, underplayed. Thank you for paying respect to this little gem. 👏👍👌
That was really well done. Shows why George was the lead guitarist even as early this tune.
Excelente. Congratulações . Única composição entre Lennon/Harrison .

Perfection! This song will cross my Spotify on shuffle and I always listen it to it all the way through!
The Beatles' tribute to The Shadows. It has Hank Marvin's style stamped all over it.
Love this tune!
Nice guitar solo with beautiful light blue guitar.👍🎸👏🙏🙂
I like your new guitar. Great playing as usual.

👍my favorite channel.👍
thanks for your job man!!!
Would be great if you'll make Link Wray - My Beth cover.
Im aware this is a tribute to The Shadows. However the style has a lot more in common with The Ventures, surprised they never covered it !

It was before they had their contract with EMI. This was when they were backing Tony Sheridan
so odd chord, so John 😁
Obscure and cool! How many Jazzmasters do you have?
Ok, I just ordered a J. Mascis Squire Jazzmaster. My wife blames you, lol.
I have 2 to answer your question! Congrats on your purchase!
Buena super
Can you give tabs for Jack the Ripper by the Raybeats?
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Finally a jazzmaster sounding guitar instead of that sunburst imposter
Лучше Харрисона сыграли 😊
