I used to mess with the guys at my store with my gold bordered cradle. Most laughed and said whatever. A few outside our group would complain. So I would pull a real one out and say I don't like using it as it's costly. For clarity I'm not rich, I'm old and have been playing since right before revised.
If we're nit-picking, Gold-border = illegal Golden-border = legal The "en" makes all the difference. Its just like how I promised I'd "deal with another players problematic board state" by winning the game. And don't get me started on the quantum triangle theory of double-faced cards and mdfc's...
I mean if your job is to talk about the game, I'd certainly expect you to at least try to cover every little thing you possibly can. Not doing it is literally just saying no to money, cause every video is a step towards paying the bills
The reason they were not legal was based upon their reserved list status and not their physical appearance, their physical appearance was different so they could be identified by their fronts by judges checking sleeved decks. This was all done so that the anniversary set would not cannibalize the price market of those cards for tournament players. You are making this argument like the reason for illegality was solely based upon the color.
Couldn’t agree more! I bought a golden bordered Force of Will several years ago because I didn’t want to pay $150 at the time, preferring the $35 option. My friends still teased me about it, and I was like “really guys?”
Do you know what gold looks like? Those are clearly yellow-bordered, not gold-bordered, lol. Saying Commander is "a social, non-competitive, non-tournament format." and follow it up with, "You can use whatever cards you want and Wizards can't stop you unless you're at a tournament." is funny to me. It's not a tournament format unless you're at a tournament, lol. "Stop taking it so seriously!" says the only person I've seen/heard making a fuss. If they can't stop you from using whichever version of a card you want (which it seems like they are), then why do you care so much?
That's not gold - that's yellow. It's not even close to the gold colour used in those cards. Multicoloured frames are closer to that gold than this is.
'Gold' border = piss border. Still can't stand this version of Gold border. Haven't seen one in person maybe it's better in person but can't stand them. And I'm someone who is actively looking for the prettiest cards
Mitch, you’re being pedantic on this one. Personally, I think the piss-boarder treatment is hideous, but this isn’t the hill to die on. Real gold boarder cards also had square edges, making them illegal dimensions for tournament play.
Nope, those cards were gold border, the new ones are pikachu border
I was going to say piss yellow. I need to drink more water.
Its a tradition for me to run a gold bordered card in every commander deck.

These RUclipsrs make a video on anything 😂
Because they can't get a real job

The gold border cards from 30th edition still not legal...
This seems like a manufactured controversy. I can't be convinced to care.
Finally I can use my 2001 World Champion Deck at my LGS!
But the backs are the standard backing. The previous gold borders have non standard backs. Still agree, and I own worlds cards
Modal cards dont have the same backs...
Hmmmm should I open my world championship deck with 4 Gaea’s Cradle in it?
You are so right. Lighten up Wizards. Thank you for the video.

Who the hell cares?

You’re reaching 🤦🏼♂️
Remember when Mitch made good content? Yeah me neither
lol
Good enough for u to watch lol.
I agree 100% about gold borders. They should be playable and those new "gold like" cards not a fan of the arts but to each their own
Legalize it
they are very diferent from world championship ugly gold border
Meld and double faced cards are legal only when your deck is sleeved or you are using helper cards in their place.
They’re all significantly less impressive than the gold etched Blood Moon
This video is a step too far on the whining front IMO, Lmao
All this guy does tbh
@NeeblesFTW Haven't watched his videos in a couple years- used to like his cheap deck builds for fun games of EDH. Now it's all whining
This, used to like the content. Couldn't stand the whining any more. I unsubed.

because it's about accessibility.

The old "gold-border" cards don't have a Magic: the Gathering backside.
Neither do a lot of legal, dual faced cards.
god i hope that looks better in person
Pokémon stopped using yellow and switches to silver. Now wizards wants to plant their flag and print yellow border cards before Pokémon backtracks. 👀
If the backs don’t matter, the value of the 30th anniversary cards should skyrocket
Mitch you should stop making this kind of videos where you complain on little things
Definitely different from gold to big Bird yellow
Not even remotely the same, since the backs of the championship cards have completely different backs
that's yellow, dude.
These golden border cards are UGLY as hell.
What happened to foundations going back to the roots they lied to us least it's first time...

I have lots of gold-bordered WC cards, none of them came with square edges
Nope. Yellow isn't gold.
its not gold its yellow
Ngl the piss lands look like crap
its because they have different backs not because the border is gold
first?!?
Second. :Þ
1st
That is not gold. That is yellow. Like on a pokemon card. Which I think is even worse.
