I remember I had a Thomas the Tank Engine book that said “helping others is important and doesn’t hurt a bit”, but I used to think it was saying “hurt a vent”. I also remember coming across a steering wheel toy at a thrift store when I was 14, and the batteries were low so the sound was all slowed down. Since the sound was extremely bit-crushed, it literally just sounded like the way explosions or flames in 8-bit video games sound (like a crackling white noise)

It’s not horrifying at all. What honestly truly happened was the recorded line was actually “Uh-oh! Who has to go?” Meaning who has to go to the bathroom. But, due to the quality of the speaker on the book, it instead comes out saying “Uh-oh! Who wants to die?” Although to me it sounds more like “Uh-oh! Who wants a guy?”
