Really great Gold Cup to watch. Two good horses, both brilliantly ridden running down to the last neck and neck. Fantastic. Actually the winner's jumping wasn't great early on but he winged the last superbly. Townend have him a brilliant ride throughout. It's been a good Cheltenham.
Yea I backed BMG and was happy with his run throughout the race,looked very comfortable but fair play to Galopin he had the acceleration and stamina at the last few which is what it’s all about.
Improve his jumping and this one can be a legend
Brave ride from Paul but didn't matter he had the horse to win. Credit to Bravemans game that was some run. Biggest cheer when Hewick got up and Ahoy earlier. The best horse won that's for sure. Well done to connections

Very impressive. Best Gold Cup winner, since Kauto. Hewick and Ahoy Senor, had very nasty falls. I feared the worst. Glad to hear, that both horses are OK 👍👍👍

sadly 12 months is a long time...look at a plus tard but if he comes in the same form he is going to be hard to beat especially as the novices don't seem that great

Outstanding ride from Paul Townend here. Could not have ridden him any better imo. Was always playing catch up and was never really travelling on the first circuit, but he stayed patient and calm throughout where many others would have panicked at the position he was in and lost the race. Townend knew he was on the best horse in the race and that his time would come on the 2nd circuit

@@marystephens2506 that was BMG's best performance I've seen. I'm not sure good ground would improve him any, and to beat the winner he would need significant improvement.

willie mullins should be up before the racing authorities following his disparaging remarks, made in an interview after the gold cup had been won by galopin des champs, when he talked about his horse having to negotiate the dead wood, ie, the beaten horses!!!
if his horse had fallen, he wouldn't have liked it if somebody said it was 'dead wood'!!
mullins should show more respect to the trainers of those beaten horses! he wouldn't have liked it if rachel blackmore on bob olinger called galopin des champs, 'dead wood' after falling at the last fence in the 'turner's' last year!!

The most impressive thing i saw in this race was noble yeats , that horse stays for days . back to back grand nationals coming up.

What a horse! absolute monster just like the other greats even on a bad day his bad jumps are better than most, the type to never know hes beaten..& peach from Paul, just like constitution Hill you can train his competition "till the cows come home" but you cannot "out train" a horse that just has extra gears when needed on the turn for home & with an engine to match!
An amazing gold cup. So many horses ran brilliantly, Noble Yeats, Conflated, lucindas horse hewick, Two wonderful horses 1st and 2nd and i hope noble yeats is fresh for the gold cup, if he is i think he'll piss up.
Ain’t surprised that Galopin Des Champ won this after winning the irish gold cup, Noble Yeats still ran well in 4th, if Noble Yeats has Back to Back wins in the Grand National soon, it’ll be a horse to never forget, like Tiger Roll and Honeysuckle.

Grand National doesn't really exist anymore, winning couple of Nationals not going to be too difficult,it's just a long distance H'cap with the softest fences in the country.

Galvin , Delta Work , Conflated and Hewitt are all around it near the top of the handicap and Noble Yeats isnt carrying more weight than it did yesterday and it deserves its 19 pound rise at it beat delta Work by 20 lengths last year. so it cant be inhumane. The National is just a high class handicap now and a proper Gold Cup takes more out of a horse. . On your other point- spot on ! It will NOT win off 19 pounds higher. IMO and its not rocket science now - Corach Rambler is the best handicapped National horse by a metric mile as reflected in the price.

To experience this there at the course was easily one of the best races I’ve watched purely because I’ve seen him be written off for weeks and weeks but always knew he’d win this. Will he stay up that hill he won’t only stay he’ll run away from them ✈️

This must be some horse. He got a terrible start, crowded at the first and didn't jump with great fluency at all and still absolutely destroyed them, he was swinging away approaching the second last.
I’ll tell you what all credit the winner but Noble yeats wins a second grand National this year, how on earth has he finished 4th here he was basically in my living room he was that far out the back of the telly 4 out.

Sentiment in horse racing empties your pockets very quickly. The National is a handicap It is 19 pounds higher than last year. Delta Work , Galvin and Conflated all around it in the weights and how the hell are any of them going to give all that weight to Corach Rambler ?
@@simonchapman5560 yes because he is a 19lbs better horse this year, if Corach rambler stays the trip then he is dangerous to all but he’s had one go at 3m4f and he weakened from 2 fences out so I have my doubt.
@@johnnyboy6608 The race you talk about with Corach they went a ridiculous pace . it will stay 4 1/2 no problem. Am not saying it will win as some v nicely handicapped horses in there now. Gallard du Mesnil. Mr Incredible. to name just two. It hs improved but 19 pounds ??? maybe 5 or 6 max. It was raised 19 because it was 20 lengths back to Delta Work in 3rd. Do you think NY is a better horse off levels than delta Work ,Galvin and Conflated ?? I dont think so. The horse will run well 4th 5th or 6th but ultimately has too higher a rating. Why didnt the freak Tiger Roll go for a third win ? Because they knew it could not win . Good luck but keep your money in your pocket.

Great performance by GDC how far would he have won by if he had jumped with his normal enthusiasm. If Davy Russell was riding Conflated would have been 2nd.

Galopin Des Champs is unbeatable he can win as many gold cups as he likes. He's in a different league to the other horses

Awesome race from start to finish. It had everything. I can see Galopin Des Champs doing a Kauto Star now and reigning supreme over the 3m division for the next few years. I'd love to see the rematch with Bravemansgame on a flatter track though, maybe in the Bowl at Aintree or next year's King George. I think there's a good chance we'd see a different outcome on a track that places more emphasis on speed and agility than it does stamina.
Galopin des champs is a faster horse than bravemans game, it would make no difference.

@Robert Burke Horse Racing doesn't throw up the same outcome everytime 2 good horses run against each other history tells you that. I hope this becomes a great rivalry

Are you really telling me, after the way Bravemansgame took apart a quality King George field, that you are 100% certain Galopin Des Champs would beat him back at Kempton? It’ll likely never happen, but there’s every reason to believe we’d get a different result if it did.
I galopin de champ can do an alboom photo both French horses like ,but bravemans game ran very well

Full of drama and although theres a very impressive winner to admire here there's lots of horses that will be interesting next time out especially NOBLE YEATS (stayed on like a madman processed last turning in up the hill, fair enough past some beaten horses but the grand national winner has shown he's in great order come Aintree
A few in there with excuses so be interesting to see the market now and there next routes they go but my gut feeling is Noble yeats will defend his crown no matter the weights but yeah thats a minefield for another day but a cracking ew bet but 7 /1 Ive seen is skinny in a race that big with top weight and ill still be searching for value.. I hope they drift it out big time 😂

The connections of Shiskin must really regret not going for the Gold Cup. The way he finished the Ryanair suggests he would have been right in the shake up. A Plus Tard was very unlucky, looked to be going well given a quiet ride by Rachael when in the space of a few seconds twice being hampered at a critical stage of the race. Connections of L`Homme Presse must have been watching this ruefully also. Their horse would likely also have been a big factor here if he`d been in the Line up.

Depends on the pace and how it’s run but usually a good few pull up and occasionally some fall

Hats off to trainer Paul . He's been a shadow the past few seasons to Mullins and Henderson and still managing to pull off winners in the Cheltenham. Great respect for that man .
Totally agree. He needs owners to support.him he's proved given the horses him and Clifford can do the job. He's done a great job with Bravemansgame he's also not afraid of opposition and travelling to Ireland. His horses run regularly don't know why he doesn't get the big owners here.
Terrible result for bookie monsters .i love bravemans game his jumping is class at 3 mile he would beat this horse no bother . the futher it went i knew the writing was on the wall .lots of nice races for him .winner and jockey were superb well done willie and townsend .

not as good as last year's winners performance but the best horse won.. Ahoy Senor would drive you mental, he had most of the field sucking when he fell. AS jumping is scary to watch, losing a length at each fence and still pulling the field out of their comfort zone. He needs a horse on his outside just to straighten him up. His jumping loses him 25 lenghts over this trip, and probably any chances of winning the race. A wasted talent.
Michael, jumping in NH racing is more important than the running in between the jumps, if you can't jump that's not a waste of talent, that's a sign the talent needed for NH racing is lacking.

@@tomgallagher7870 I just love the horse Tom I was worried for a while when he was so far back but he did it and how he did it. Honeysuckle Tuesday I will never forget the emotion of that day. They say we don't care about the horses Tuesday showed that we racing lot love the horses and Henry and his family felt the love from everyone. U r right Tom it was a great 4 days.
