  • At the end of the day if it doesn’t bring you happy wash some fabric!
    I was kicking myself about the lack luster finish I performed during my #sewingchallenge. Let’s talk about it.

    Please don't beat yourself up, life happens. The challenge was still successful. The sewing community had your back.
    CONGRATULATIONS on your new job.

    I'm glad to see you back! You are 100% right that sometimes things happen that are beyond our control and I'm glad you picked yourself back up and came back to RUclips! I really like the orange plaid and double brushed poly and think it will be beautiful together. I can't wait to see it made up!

    V don't be hard on yourself! The jumpsuit challenge was a hit! It definitely got me back in the sewing groove because prior I didn't have much time to sew. So thank you! Congrats on the new job! Love the fabrics! 🙂

    I’ve learned through time I will talk to myself anything I would say to a friend or my husband. I think you found your happy joy joy when you pulled out your projects and started talking about them. I’m glad you haven’t burdened yourself with holiday sewing, I have limited myself to just one sentimental project, turning a loved ones clothing into comfort pillows. So not bad and I plan on enjoying my hobby in December. I love that you don’t like saying killing birds, words are so very important I turned the warrior yoga poses into Guardian poses. Words matter, and war has no place in yoga. (I’m a teacher) Be well!

      Thank you for watching. Yes words are so very important what we say to others and most importantly what we say to ourselves. I’m still trying to come up with a clever alternative to “killing 3 birds” so I’ll keep trying them out on you all 🤭.

    Please don't be so hard on yourself! I know it's hard when we put expectations on ourselves, but I really enjoyed taking part in the challenge and am looking forward to next year already! It's such a tricky balance to strike between taking part in the community and sewing for relaxation. I've learned the hard way not to overcommit with my creative endeavours. We are always learning!

    So happy to see you!! Sometimes life just grabs us by the tail and all we can do is just go with it. One thing I find helpful in coming back is to just take the tiniest steps, kind of like what you were describing. I've heard the expression "cut 2 carrots with 1 knife" LOL. Love your January dress. Nice fabrics, the orange and flannel look great together. I made S9375 last winter. It came out really well. Love the idea of "project bags", I've started doing that too. Thanks for sharing your plans and welcome back!

      Thanks so much Angela. I like the carrot idiom! The skirt looks pretty simple so hopefully it will be a breeze with the flannel.

    Thanks Vee, this video is definitely encouraging. Actually you’ve summed up what happened to me. I didn’t meet my own expectations and it threw me off my game. Then I felt like so much time has passed, should I even make another video? Your courage has encouraged me to just enjoy my hobby and to enjoy sharing it with my RUclips friends. So I’m going to paint my face and come and chat with you all real soon.
    I love all your fabric and pattern pairings. I especially like the corduroy. I think that color will look wonderful on you.

      Yay, IF and when you return in front of the camera we will be here. It is ALWAYS a treat you chat with you in the comments! I decided that when I have something to share that informs or entertains then I will post - could be weekly, but will more than likely be 2-3 times a months. I have enough life responsibilities and expectations, sewing will be my release!

    I think you did a great job on the challenge but I completely understand your disappointment. It was a big challenge with high expectations! Hosting a challenge is a lot of work. But you hit the nail on the head - THIS IS A HOBBY! So maybe think about restructuring the challenge next year so you can keep it fun for YOU😊. Those sewing bowl challenges are lots of fun! I fell behind on doing the challenge round ups. I wasn't aware of the blue challenge or the coat challenge. I love the January dress - I like the fact that it has dropped sleeves. I LIKE the looser neckline. I have a pattern that is similar, except the neckline doesn't look as loose. It's the Style Arc Brooklyn. I think that turtleneck and skirt will look great together - nice combo.

      @85thAndWade  Год назад +1

      Thanks Michelle. There will definitely be changes next year lol. The January dress has been renamed to the Mitten Frock. I checked out Style Arc and I think the Cher dress is very similar. I like the length of that dress. Mine hits above the knee 😬. The Brooklyn has more of a rolled cowl neck. I know too many names to keep up with lol. Let me know when you plan to make your Cher as I need a reason to make another Mitten 😉
