Still my favorite BABYMETAL song, music video and choreography.
Definitely quintessential BABYMETAL, and their most Japanese track.
They've performed it more often than any other song, and it consistently tops fan polls for favorite BABYMETAL song.
The hype for this song is almost unreal at their live shows.
'Megitsune' incorporates a lot of Japanese festival shouts, like "Sore, sore, sore, sore!" ("Go! Go! Go! Go!")
Su still considers it one of her favorites, even though it's hard to sing this one live.
The lyrics are really interesting, and the music video for this song is a masterpiece.
You still have some great songs to look forward to like 'Akatsuki', 'YAVA!', 'BxMxC', etc.

Going forward, if reactors want to keep reacting to the videos, I've come up with a solution that will make it possible to continue using the videos with logos that have already been tested against blocks.

@@BreakdownMediaYT - When you're done reacting i recommend watching some full concerts. There is a spreadsheet on the Babymetal reddit with every pro shot concert. They're even better watching a full concert than what you see in clips and individual songs.
I second Akatsuki (a COT ski) U is silent or mostly silent. I recommend live at Budokan. I just watched Budokan last night in full, i never watched it because i'd seen a lot of it on here but it was much much better seeing it in full. I vastly underestimated it. A side note about Budokan Ozzy Osbourne was in attendance. It was the first night (Red Night) which had technical difficulties i think just with the recording equipment. Seems like they were using all the backup cameras. But Black Night was awesome.
This video is so precious. I am glad I got to watch it too. This is the New Year's live show in 2015. The previous year the three girls had also experienced Sonisphere, which you reacted to IDZ, so they look very regal here. Megitsune was the opening song at this SSA live show. Btw, the end song is "Raod of Resistance" which became the MV. Su-'s line at the breakdown, 8:06, "なめたら、いかんぜよ (Nametara, ikan zeyo, Don't underestimate me!) " is a famous one from an 80's Japanese Yakuza movie, "鬼龍院花子の生涯 (Kiryuin Hanako no shogai, Onimasa)", which the main character Matsue, played by Masako Natsume (夏目雅子, the legendary actress (RIP), who married young and was as beautiful as Su-), dares Yakuza at a funeral of her younger sister, Hanako. ruclips.net/video/q8dvCHHSXDI/видео.html
I hope you can come to Japan. I have been on a family trip to nearby Jigokudani Onsen Spa. in Nagano Prefecture, famous for "The Snow Monkeys", until today (Nagano is my hometown). The autumn leaves were beautiful.
I will recommend following songs from BM the first album, "Headbanger", and "Onedari Daisakusen". "OD" is by Black BABYMETAL, Yui & Moa. Good songs are still left. Thank you from Japan.

This concert in Saitama Super Arena is one of my favorites. The staging is superb with various bridges to stages within the crowd and the lighting is awesome. BM, The Kami Band and the crowd are in top form and along with this opening there is the Yui leap over Moa in IDZ and the definitive performance of Road of Resistance which made me a fan. FYI there are online instructions for the audience for shouts and movements for each song and Moa and Yui act as crowd conductors.
Megitsune (vixen) is one of BM's female empowerment songs and it subverts many traditional Japanese attitudes to women. The dance has wide leg lifts which contrasts with the traditional Japanese dance in the breakdown and the lyrics express the way women often have to play a part to satisfy other people.
In Japan the fox is believed to be a clever shape shifter and the lyrics liken women to female foxes in the way they have to be different things in different situations and often are crying inside while they are smiling outside. Su, Moa and Yui mime wearing a mask with their hands and also putting on make up which shows how women have to hide their true faces. The breakdown music is a classic song called "Sakura Sakura" (Cherry Blossom Cherry Blossom), but Su sings "kitsune, kitsune" (fox, fox). Also Megitsune was written at a time when BM were breaking away from their parent idol group "Sakura Gakuin" and the Fox God is BM's patron deity so it's speculated that singing "kitsune" is expressing their growing independence from Sakura Gakuin.
Su's expression of female strength reaches a peak when shouts
"Otome wa nametara ikan zeyo" or "Maidens should not be underestimated",
and does a front kick, so she's saying she's capable of dealing with anyone who gets in her way.
Foxes are also associated with Inari, the Japanese god of rice, abundance and now also material success in business. I think linking the "Fox God" to Babymetal is their producer Kobametal having a bit of a joke and what better mascot for a commercial venture.

For the most part, reading the lyrics to BABYMETAL songs doesn't add much to the experience...but Megitsune is an exception to this. It would be well worth your time to go check out a translation.

I agree it doesn't add much reading them after the fact. I do enjoy the videos with english subs though. I just watched Budokan Black Night and it had english subs for all the songs and it was pretty cool. I actually don't like a lot of the Babymetal lyrics. I don't like love songs. But it's perfectly fine with Babymetal because they're in a language i don't understand. I'm not against the idea of them singing love songs, I just don't want to hear it in english :)

I think cuttysark has already explained pretty much everything I would have said - and I'm with Rick Wagner on no arguments, this is still my favourite song as well (although there are at least 8 or 9 and possibly more that push it very close and sometimes step ahead depending on my mood).

This was January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena. Su was only just 17, Yui and Moa were 15 and that was a sell out crowd of over 20,000 people all completely involved and joining in.
You're right - the girls and the kami band give off incredible energy, the audience feeds off that and gets involved, the girls and the band absorb that energy, multiply it and give out even more - therfe is nothing like a live BABYMETAL concert.

You're absolutely right about that crowd, indeed this was their first show in their 2015 World Tour, for the event the members of The ONE, aka their fan base, crowded the Saitama Super Arena. This also brought us the largest mosh pits ever in BM history so far 😁!
BTW I also prefer Megitsune over Gimme Chocolate 🍫, which is frenzy and shocking, but the former has actually deeper lyrics, cultural references and overall it's more demanding of SU, YUI and MOA skills.

Megitsune is among my favorite from the self-titled album. Probably the second? First is IDZ 'cause I'm a big power metal fan lol. The song is about woman empowerment and the title translates to Female fox.

You guys' Japanese pronunciation is correct and video selection is fantastic as well as "Rondo" in 2015 Yokohama. In an interview Su-Metal said that this song was mixture of various elements ; very fast but smooth, hard but beautiful etc. So Megitsune is her tuning song because it includes necessary factors for singing in a well-balanced manner. She always sings Megitsune in rehearsal to confirm her vocal condition. Su actually said "in a sense, it is a song of criterion for me". (source : Tokion Vol.7 2020-12-24)
Now in 2021, BM performed this popular song in each and every show of 10 BABYMETAL Budokan concerts. Su's voice was matured and Moa's dance moves were more elegant, flexible, playful, and yet sharp and agitating to crowds. I witnessed it 9 times ヽ(^o^)丿

Great reaction! I don't remember which songs you have already heard, but Megitsune is pretty hard to beat. Another one that's right at the top is "Headbanger", especially the "Legend 1997" performance. You shouldn't miss that one. If you are interested in something newer, "Pa Pa Ya" has great energy as well.
I have been a fan for a few years now, but the Japanese fans in particular still amaze me. It's absolutely no exaggeration to say that not a single person in the crowd is slacking off. It makes for such a great experience!
Edit: I see you have already done Headbanger. If you don't mind dying from cuteness overload, you might also want to check out "Doki Doki Morning", their very first release ever. The official music video is a good choice for that song.

Glad you liked it so much - Megitsune is often cited as their best song, though I personally prefer Headbanger (and a few others). Probably the best performance of it is either from this same show or from their concert at Yokohama Arena later that year.

Congratulations. Just to say I hope you get to Tokyo. I have been to Japan a couple of times and it’s as wonderful as you imagine. I have seen BABYMETAL five times, including twice in Japan, and they are different level brilliant. There is no bad BabyMetal songs sometimes the favourite can be changed by which performance your watching of it . Firstly I gotta pass on my congratulations to you both - may you have many years of happiness together! As for the reaction, I always look forward to when you cover Babymetal or Nightwish. I don't wish to boast but I think I was one of the first to recommend Babymetal (under my original RUclips name - David Paul) - and you've only just scratched the surface! I was very lucky in that my last concert was Babymetal at Hammersmith Apollo in London - obviously not on this major scale but they played 'Megitsune' as they always do - you could cut that atmosphere with a knife, the electricity in the air was so palpable! You made such a wonderful point about being so proud of them - I'm a 54 year old who is very protective of them - especially when people take the piss out of Babymetal because they're so ignorant of the concept! As for my recommendations for further songs, I don't know where to begin - I'm trying to second guess what style of song you'd like - talking of making you feel instantly happy, I suggest 'PAPAYA' , you'll love it! 'BxMxC' is a Su and Moa music video where they're characters in a video game because you're both gamers maybe? Another Su solo called 'Akatsuki' is a superb song with the band featured again! Saitama Super Arena (さいたまスーパーアリーナ, Saitama Sūpā Arīna) is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Chūō-ku, Saitama, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. It opened preliminarily on May 5, 2000, and then officially opened on September 1 of the same year. Its spectator capacity is 36,500 at maximum settings, making it the second-largest indoor arena in the world. The main arena capacity is between 19,000 and 22,500.

This is part of the *Trilogy 2015* a series of 3 major concerts, they're a must watch. Also Gamers Inked already did Rondo Of Nightmare from one of these concerts, one of the best version, if not the best, but heavily blocked that's why you won't see many reactors doing these versions 🦊🤘

@@BreakdownMediaYT Also if u do The pa pa ya version its one of babymetal more recents song so Yui Mizuno one of the girls at the sides doing dances / screams are not in the band anymore, she left In 2018 due to something about her health, that is still unknown aswell. they often have one of the "avengers members" (backupdancers for babymetal) doing Yui parts now, but doesnt sing. Sry maybe to much info, alot to take it :D

This is a really really good live performance! I hope it stays up, but i'm sorry to tell you that usually proshots of live performances from BabyMetal from 2015 and later usually get blocked... If it does get blocked, you could try to put a transparent logo on top or play a bit with the video transparency are try to upload it again!
This was the Saitama Super Arena with about 22k people, but SU had already been performing there with her previous group: when she was in Karen Gils while she was 10 years old, she already performed there in front of about 20k people :D
If you want to see them super cute when they just started, I highly recommend their first 2 MV they ever released: "Doki Doki Morning" and "Iine". They will shock you ;)

Great pick of the video btw, I don’t think I ever seen any reaction to that particular one, so good on you for choosing this one. On a side note, this was the same show the official video for “Road of Resistance” was recorded at which was their last song of the show, whilst “Megitsune” was the opener :). You should also checkout the official MV, Su has a little surprise for you. If you are going to Japan, there are a great many venues for the rock/metal bands. Hundreds of bands forming, reforming and starting from new, do a little research before you go.
You still have Band Maid, Nemophila, Aldious, Mary's Blood, Bridear, One Ok Rock to checkout before you go.
The Japanese and the Koreans are the best in the world at staging concerts.

I discovered your channel through Nightiwsh reaction and yes BABYMETAL had been my favourite Japanese metal band for a long time since the release of Akatsuki song a long time ago and had been my favourite from them. The uniqueness of singing style is what makes me amazed by them, same as what Nightwish have done, unique singing style. And since you announce your marriage (kekkon omedetou!!), you remind me of Mayu who also announced her marriage yesterday on live streaming. Mayu is the vocalist of new band NEMOPHILA and this band quickly became my favourite Japanese metal band to date. You might be interested to check them out at some point if you like Japnaese metal and unique singing style so I will give you bit of info of who they are.
NEMOPHILA is a Tokyo-based Japanese metal band formed in August 2019, was introduced as "Super Metal Band" on their official debut in September 2019 at the METAL WEEKEND 2019, Zepp Diver City, Tokyo, where the band opened up for heavy metal legends, LOUDNESS and HAMMERFALL. No one could argue with the title "Super Metal Band" as all the band members are no strangers to Japanese rock/metal scene with several decades of experience between them; and individually regarded as a reputable seasoned musician.
NEMOPHILA started out as session band and supposed to be a one-off session as the "Mayu Session Band", assembled by Mayu (ex-LIPSTICK vocalist) who approached her good friend, Haraguchi-san (ex-HöLDERLINS bassist). They later made contact with Tamu Murata (ex-Soramimi drummer). Mayu can't play guitar well so they were introduced to Saki (Mary's Blood & AMAHIRU guitarist, ex-Destrose), who later introduced Hazuki (Li-sa-X band guitarist, Disqualia - this band isn't officially disbanded but put on hold) to the rest of the band, completing the superb veteran quintet.
Saki & Hazuki are using 7 strings guitars. Haraguchi-san is using 5 strings bass. Tamu Murata still using double pedals ...with most adorable smile but don't be fooled by that as she is one fierce drummer. Mayu might have another set of lungs to accommodate her banshee-like 'thunder throat'.
Despite being relatively new formed group, their fan base is growing rapidly at both local and international level. Their RUclips channel NEMOPHILA hits 100k subscribers before even releasing a full-length debut album.
Their heavy songs are HEAVY as hell. NEMOPHILA approach is "jigoku no yurufawa" which means "hell fluffy cute" or could be interpreted as play heavy as hell while being true to your own nature -fluffy cute as them being ladies. They are the most highly anticipated band in Japan right now and yet their attitude towards their surroundings is humbly appreciative and down to earth still.
NEMOPHILA released their first single "Oiran" on February 2020. "Raitei", their second single, was released on August 2020, the same day that Tamu Murata returned to live activities after giving birth in May 2020 (... and she gave birth to her second daughter in mid 2021 as well). Third single "Dissension" followed on February 2021. They will release their first album Revive on December 2021 by British record label JPU Records.

Their bond between themselves also grow everyday like sisters and was particularly shown by the song Life in this life streaming performance here ruclips.net/video/HFnEYhbEAqg/видео.html ...this is their final song for the show and in this performance, all the band members are facing their drummer, Tamu Murata, to show appreciation and thank you for coming back to them after taking a long break giving birth to a beautiful child during May 2020 as mentioned above. During the performance, Tamu had no idea why they were all facing her (instead of 'forward' to the virtual audience like the rest of the performance) and Mayu was purposely focused her attention towards her as directly singing to her. Tamu was later (at the end of the concert) been informed by the rest of the band members what actually happened and during the explaining, they all cried before Tamu herself did. Although during the performance, you could noticed Tamu did 'feel' the emotions (towards the end of the song) sent by Mayu as their bond grown stronger together like sisters who could sense the love between each other without actually saying it. This is Tamu's first performance (minus rehearsals for this concert, which definitely needed after long break) with the rest of the band after giving birth. Tamu Murata really is the special one, a woman, a drummer, a wife and a mother, adorable but fierce.
