I love how your channel has evolved over the years to include the history and even the mystery of the places that you visit and the people you talk about.
Only RUclipsr that I can find that does this
Bro, In the minute 2:45 there's a little girl that starts walking coming out from one of the gravestones... Creepy!
2:43 who spotted the little girl that randomly comes from behind the tree?
yes looks like a ghost
I'm sure it's a human, but was surprised at 2:47 when little girl with a pink dress was walking in the cemetery by herself 😅
Good eye !
As soon as I saw her I went to the comments to scroll to see if anyone else saw her.
Uh, Chris, was anyone in the cemetery with you?
lil girl by herself walking through graveyard, 2:46-2:48
Your hard work and soft, well spoken narrative is addictive in a simple unspoken way. Reflected by your cumulative views.Thank you
At 2:46 you can see a little girl walking in the background. or maybe a spirit?
She looks solid. Thought she had a parent there, but didn't see anyone else. Cool!!
Did anyone else notice the young girl in the distance just as he pans from the gravesite just after talking about the wolf stone?
Yes I sure did! Around the 248 mark. She appears out of nowhere then disappears just as fast! Strangely, she looks solid.
We just noticed that too!
@@chriskimmell8905 Get the ghost team out there asap!
I was looking through the comments to see if anyone else notice her. I replayed it 3x, found it weird that she was by herself.
I didn’t see anyone. Where is she?
So nice to see that you made it to York,Me. I literally live half a mile from the cemetery. There is truly a great deal of history in York which very interesting. Safe travels.
Chris that is a beautiful graveyard! I love the age of it !! And the bells ringing gives ita timeless feel to it!! Thank-you for sharing this amazing place with us😊❤
Did anyone else see the little girl in a dress and brown hair in a pony tail, walk from behind one headstone to another. No one else is near her. No parents. Is this a ghost?? 😮 2:47
Yes I saw it
I missed it. Where in the cemetery?
Fascinating, Chris. Thanks for this. I'm prodded to read up on York, Maine and learn more about it. I was born and raised in York, PA, also a town with some colonial history. Grateful as always for you taking us along with you.
Pittsburgh, Pa in the House
As always, great watching your content. However, with this one, cemetery, back story, church, background music, at 2:40 did anyone notice the little girl in a dress pop out from behind a grave stone then disappear behind another one in the background. You just stepped into the next dimension with this one. Keep it coming. 👻👻👻👻
OOHH MY G D TEMUBA,, THANK YOU!!! SPOOKY ,, SHE WAS DRESSED IN THOSE DAYS ... IT WAS LIKE SHE CAME OUT OF A GRAVE ,, GREAT EYES!!! IT WAS A FAST SHOT ,, THAT GRAVE WE NEED TO GO BACK TO SEE IF IT WAS A LITTLE GIRL BURIED THERE ..COOOL..
Yes I noticed the little girl at 2:46, but I did not see any adults close by.....she seemed to appear from nowhere then dissappear again........spooky........
@@lorraineperry8232yes 2:46, she appeared to be wearing white.
Super creepy
Just looked like a young child to me. Nothing paranormal I'd say.
This is my first time commenting on your channels, never miss a video. Can someone please tell me if I'm seeing things at the 2:47 mark??? It looks like a little girl walking among the grave stones in the back.
2:47 brave little girl walking through the cemetery all by herself
Yea and she dissappears behind a gravestone umm WTF ?!?!
Thank you, Chris!❤
That music made it eerie. Absolutely fascinating history. Thanks for the great content Chris!
around 2:47 , it's a little bit creepy to see a little girl there, but it's in the middle of the daylight, silly me. 😅
My home town. Used to take field trips to that cemetery & the Old Gaol in elementary school. Very cool that you're there Chris. Thanks for the awesome videos & content.
Thank you so much for filming this! What a beautiful cemetery & intriguing story.
CHRIS THANKS SO MUCH. Very interesting cemetery from so long ago.
Mary Nasson was the wife of Samuel Nasson. She had been a successful and respected herbalist in the community, and she was also skilled at performing exorcisms. Her portrait is said to be the carved portrait that adorns the top of her headstone.
Legend states that Mary was a witch and was executed. Her grave is known as "Witch's Grave," and it is reported to be haunted and that the large stone slab emits heat.
Mary's husband erected a headstone, a footstone, and then placed a heavy stone slab between them, covering the ground over her body. The legend goes that the stone was placed there to keep her from crawling out of her grave. Historians disagree, saying that Mr. Nasson placed the slab there to keep cattle from damaging the grave. Whatever the reason for the slab, it is the only one of its kind in the entire cemetery.
To add more fire to the legend, crows which frequent the cemetery in the summer are reported to be Mrs. Nasson's "familiars," still paying tribute to her.
The inscription on the headstone:
"Here liest quite free from Lifes
Distressing Care,
A loving Wife
A tender Parent dear
Cut down in midst of days
As you may see
But - stop - my Grief
I soon shall equal be
when death shall stop my breath
And end my Time
God grant my Dust
May mingle, then, with thine.
He obviously loved her a great deal. Also since she is buried on 'hallowed' or blessed ground of a churchyard, she wasn't executed as a witch.
The slab being used to keep the cows off (and I imagine pigs too) makes more sense than wolves. Ergo the low stone fence around the church yard.
@@Elysian777 I do find it interesting like he said in the video, there are no graves around her. It makes you wonder why…..
@@M1STEROHARA
The church and it's members were suspicious of her talents is why she was buried at a distance?
(My educated guess.)
Chris said that she died shortly after giving birth to her 6th child, yet someone else says she was executed?? For being a white witch?? I live in the U.K. and in Lancashire witches were given horrible trials….and ducking stools were even used. The witches were tied on a chair or stool at the end of a long piece of wood over a pond or deep water…then they ducked her under and held her there for maybe ten minutes,….if she came up alive she WAS. Witch and was then burnt at the stake, but if she drowned they declared she wasn’t a witch,..there were other cruel things done, but just ridiculous ideas .. with regards to this lady, I wonder where her husband was buried, or if he went on to marry again and is with that wife. I also agree that there is a lot of space around her, but I’m sure there will have been burials. Most people at that time were too poor to have a grave stone erected…her husband did this one for her, but probably had contributions from people she had helped. Other grave stones there I imagine came from a later period, when people either had more money, or were wealthy to start with. Just my thoughts from having visited churchyards here in the U.K. which are similar. Only way to be sure is to use a sonar (?) machine over the space and it would show anomalies where soil has been disturbed at some time or some remains or coffin can still be picked up. It’s nice that people still visit her.and leave little gifts.
Thanks Chris, I agree with other viewers, your knowledge and history details really make your videos extra interesting.. 👏🏻👏🏻
Warmest regards from over the Pond! 🙋♀️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥰🙏🦋🦋🦋🦋😘
2:48 little girl in white dress. Oddly timed
Young Mary taking a stroll amongst the stones in the distance at 2:46.
😳👍
Thanks Chris!
I always wonder about the people who have passed before us, especially those buried in old cemeteries. I wonder what their lives were like and if I would’ve liked them as a person or not. I find it interesting.
What’s that little girl doing looks like she’s coming from behind a gravestone and she’s by herself.
29yrs. old and already had 6 kids? Dayummmmmm!! Absolutely love the old grave stones!
My mom had 5 by 26. We were just talking about how it’s good to be a young mom but now she’s 83 & has three kids in their 60’s. When did we all get so old 😂
Interesting. I love the sound of the church bells and birds.
Here's my theory on the wolf stone: while the White Witch nickname was probably a joking term of endearment during her lifetime, and her husband simply placed it as a wolf stone, most likely the legend grew over the decades and centuries since she passed, and this prevented her wolf stone from being harvested.
Your videos has caused my daughter to recently buy two books about a couple of your stories. We watch you as a family.
Wow! Thanks Chris 👍🏽🥰🙏🏽God Bless
At 2:48 That little girl disappeared!
I saw that also! I kept going back looking for her parents, but didn't see anyone else! Solid ghost! Cool!!
@@tonytiger7777 Me also.
Such a wonderful video. So beautiful and I love the history. RIP to all the poor women that were accused of being witches when all they were trying to do was help people get better xx-♥️🌿🌱🌹. Thank you for a great video and the church bells were a plus..
Interesting walk Chris. History is always a mystery to me .. thanks for sharing. Nicely done!😊
At 2:46 there was a little girl carrying flowers walking behind the cemetery stones in the background... did you notice her there at the time?
FYI that "semi-creepy church bell music" is "The Star-Spangled Banner", at least at the beginning.
I recognized most of the songs as religious or at least patriotic.
My former neighbor called me a white witch, but for another reason 🤣🤣
Loved that place. Thanks
I'm wondering why there are hair ties left on the witch's grave? I've seen this other places but can't find any reference or explanations.
Love your channel-great content and presentation!!🤩
I think it’s a nod to her being a healer. Nurses & doctors need to tie their hair back to work on folks.
Always in awe of your explorations Chris. I appreciate all of your hard work which is your passion 💙🙏🏻 It’s obvious and amazing. Thank you
The Raid on York (also known as the Candlemas Massacre) took place on 24 January 1692 during King William's War, when Chief Madockawando and Father Louis-Pierre Thury led 200-300 natives into the town of York (then in the District of Maine and part of the Province of Massachusetts Bay, now in the state of Maine), killing about 100 of the English settlers and burning down buildings, taking another estimated 80 villagers hostage. The villagers were forced to walk to Canada, New France, where they were ransomed by Capt. John Alden Jr. of Boston (son of John Alden and Priscilla Mullins of the Plymouth Colony). One of those taken captive was a young Jeremiah Moulton, who would later gain notoriety during the Father Rale's War.
I know you said that the slab that was placed on her grave was to keep animals out but I wonder if it was really to keep her from getting out, since the thought she was a witch.
Whoaaaa the little girl at 2.46!
America has some great history and folklore and you do a great job bringing these stories out of there local environment and out to the wider public. Great stuff.
Chris and anyone else, do you see the little girl at 2:47 in your video? She seems to come from nowhere and no adults are around. Very cool.
Always appreciate you sharing Chris! 🪦
@MobileInstinct Time stamp 2:44 There is a little girl possibly a spirit of a little girl walking between the graves! 2:47
Dude did you see the little girl walking in the cemetery by her self. She looked like a ghost walking through
I saw it
There were other graves near hers 100 yrs ago, but they weren't notable so they were removed so the stones could be repurposed.
That's pretty sad. Quite disrespectful of the dead as well.
Wow the poor little girl in the distance was visiting her mother 😢 rip 🙏 🪦 ☹️ 😔
Love the bells. Sad so many women were persecuted for trying to help by using methods that have been used long before the 1700s. People were so superstitious back then. RIP Mary
7:00 Mark you can hear a young child reply about the wood floor
2:46 the girl just appearing and disappearing...?!
I enjoy your vlogs. The weird thing about this one is the creepiness of this cemetery is fascinating to the point where I'd like to visit it someday.
Fascinating. Love that you’re in New England
My home state! I hope you have more videos coming Chris.
Wow…amazing story of poor Mary 😮 Back in the old days the Welsh feared the Fae more than they did witches … What a wonderful walk around, thank you so much. Best wishes from North Wales 🏴 UK ❤🐾
Awesome editing as well as the video and the history. Well done Chris.
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing this historic town with us
Watching from Ireland...this channel is class 😊
VERY interesting Chris. Really intrigued myself with the “OLDER” history..thanks!
Fascinating video, thanks
Thanks Chris, I love these old Legends, or maybe truths, who knows
Definitely get a vibe this cemetery is haunted at night.
I've been watching your content on and off for a long time.( Subscribed) You get better and better. Always interesting. Always appreciated .
I love walking through a cemetery
Super cool. I have been to that cemetery with my wife and kids and visited the “witch’s” grave (there wasn’t all that stuff on top). We went in the winter. Here’s the freaky thing. The entire cemetery was blanketed in snow except that grave which was barren. I had read about this in a book but didn’t believe it until I saw it. I’m sure there’s a rational explanation for this but it was still weird to see. Many cool things to see up here in NE but if you want a treat visit the Searles Castle in Windham NH. Not something you typically see here in the US.
maybe someone had just swept it off unless it was snowing
wow. neat tour.
Nice video, I'll be heading up to Maine next Wednesday. Can't wait to see where else you travel to up there.
Really enjoyed this one. Great job.
I really enjoyed the video. Thank you.
We have a similar school house in my town in SW NH. It's been furnished with old school books and pictures. Still has the old slate "chalk"board and personal size slate boards to write on. Kinda the size of a today's NoteBook. Of course, they didn't have chalk back then. Also my grandmother had graduated from there in the 1910's. Yes I'm old.
Sure enjoyed that rain . We haven't seen it around here in weeks on end . Plus it's been 100 or more degrees everyday .
Does anyone else see the lone little girl just walk out behind the headstone back by the tree? She's wearing a dress ,dark hair , holding a flower??
Yes and when he went into the old school house across the street, it made me think the little girl may have been a spirit who used to attend the school.
My guess is that her grave was not separated back then but the other gravestones just disappeared over the time and were used otherwise. And another guess would be that these slabs disappeared from graves because people started to bury the bodies deeper down in the ground.
Interesting. Thank you. ❤
Charming little place. Quiet and peaceful. Maybe the woman wanted peace and quiet, hence she's buried in a solitary manner.
Beautiful area. Have a place on the water in Biddeford Pool. Looks like you’ve been heading south make sure you stop in Portsmouth NH!
Good video thanks.
Thank you so much for this, Chris ❤ I was there in 1999, right at the white witch grave..... oddly enough it was my last vacation with my ex husband
Very eerie atmosphere, neeed to visit.
Your content is top notch! Especially the recent New England area. There's a ton of creepy history up that way-
I lived in a house ( very old, possibly built in the 1700’s) that had those beautiful wide plank floors. You can’t find those any more because there aren’t any large old trees available for people to make floors from.
Really liked this one .
2:45 👀👻🌲
Wow that was cool school house!
This was interesting. I enjoyed it very much!
Fascinating cemetery , thankyou. I wonder why the herbalist lady's headstone is the wrong way round ?
Very interesting, Chris! Visiting New England one day is on my bucket list 😊👍🏻
It's beautiful!
2:45 There's a little girl walking by herself.....ghost ???
And she doesn't look like a modern times little girl. Eerie. After 6:57 in the schoolhouse when he says "Look at all this floors" you can also hear a woman's voice saying "Yeah" .... and then something else I can not understand. And there seems to be no one with him or near the schoolhouse.
IDK she isn't see thru like most spirits but where is her parent(s)? It is strange & I did hear a woman's voice after the floors comment too! Its VERY possible that there are earth bound spirits there that need help getting to the light! ❤
@@eily_bHer clothes look very modern, like she was at church, or maybe a party. Just weird I didn’t see any adults with her.
I thought I was seeing things too
Keep up the good work brother I can't think of not one video that I didn't enjoy I sure enjoy ur channel bro great work very well researched
Love the history and the chance to see a place I will probably never get to. Today that "White Witch" would probably have a RUclips channel and thousands of subscribers! 😂
I always loved hearing church bells , this is no acception. Good stuff indeed. 👍
America the Beautiful by church bells is quite amazing.
Love the creepy vibes.😮
Good Video Chris
🎊🍁🇮🇳🎊🍁
Yeah. The small child at 2:47 did freak me out a bit.
Wow Missouri here, so interesting
good video - well done-------------
Sounds very similar to the bells at Michigan Memorial, near flat rock Michigan
A very Patriotic Church Bell! ❤
