Wessel200 5 euros, about $7.30 Aussie dollars, I would call that money well spent on a ride you will remember for a very long time with help of this video. I must admit to being just a touch jealous :))
What a grand event to see! I've only seen these vehicles in books before today. How wonderful it must be to own or even see them in person! I cant begin to imagine the logistical nightmare it must have been to order, stock, maintain all the different parts for all the different vehicles in a panzer unit or even a motorized unit! Thank you for uploading this video.

andy d they are expensive though just find a five ton or a deuce in a half much cheaper and nearly the same size or possibly bigger depending on the variant but sadly no tracks but you do have 6X6 with 48in standard tires
I did not realize how kinds there were! I thought I knew a good amount of WWII history, but have not seen many of these. How exciting, and like others have said, they still run!
+Gabriel Gonzalez, they are called "Kettanrads" (My spelling may be wrong here :-), and they are much sought after, as I understand. These days they do not come cheap!
@@befundara Pretty interesting statistics from Robert Forcysk. Batallion of T-34s move 400 km and have a breakdown rate of 15 percent. Battalion of Panthers move 90 km and have a breakdown rate of 35 percent. 1943. They improved later though but we're never as reliable as a T-34.
Right, like people with Classic Cars, life's too short, if it can't be used, it's like.......... What's the point of having it? It's just A giant paper weight that requires upkeep, and maintenance, What A Waste, Illogical.
Thanks for posting this video, I really appreciated being able to see all the many various support vehicles used by German forces in WW II. I had no idea that they had so many different models of Half-track, and the range of sizes is staggering, not to mention the logistical nightmare of supplying spares for so many different vehicles. When you consider that the Allies basically used only two different brands of Half-track, White and International with similar basic bodies, but sharing many common parts and service items across them and many trucks and other vehicles, then the German problem becomes evident. Oh the headaches involved!
Most of these vehicles were based on Trucks and Truck drive trains already in production so the logistical situation wasn't that bad. The rear wheels were replaced by track sprockets. That was the beauty of half tracks. The vehicle steered by the front wheels but past a certain point breaking pressure was applied (adjustable by the driver). In some ways cheaper than a 4WD or 6WD truck. The differential could be locked and steered without wheels as well alone. The US half tracks were much more complicated: they had front wheel drive, a central differential and a shorter track section.
Such genius every vehicle suits it creations purposed, yet running still. Mind blowing idea for today's people to see and appreciated. Thanks for oldies.!
I kind of like how the public is given a chance to ride in them. In the US people are off limits as if they have the latest stealth fighter in secret components.
WOW there are some beautiful vehicles here! The Germans used the half track system on more trucks than any other Army in WWII and they had some BIG ones I believe one of them had a 12 ton load rating, the Cars I am not positive about but one at least looked like a Horch which was also 1 of the 4 that were forsed together and formed the Auto Union. The Kettenkrads looked really nice and there must be getting fewer and fewer of these available for buyers because the prices have jumped over the 100,000 USD mark a few years ago. I collect US Military heavy trucks and much more modern German Military trucks (Unimogs) its a great hobby and I have extremely high regards for the Unimogs!
Brilliant weaponry built by brilliant people thinking outside the box, thinking blitzkrieg. I especially am impressed with the armored fire-team and squad carriers. They just tried to save to much to fast.
No, what would be sad is if these vehicles weren't around anymore, and they weren't maintained, and there wasn't events like this, and in turn the next generations didn't have A physical connection with the past, because as hard as it is for people like us to believe, the knowledge/history of this time is not being passed along......... That is unless you count video games, let that sink in for A little bit. 🎮🤦

Hunter12396 thanks a lot.
ty for knowledge.
Merci de nous avoir éclairé 🙂👍
I didn't realise how huge that halftrack truck was. It's bigger than most tanks.
soundslave I think it was a SdKfz 9 Heavy recovery vehicle...it towed tanks.
"To tow the tank, you must become the tank" kinda thing
No, it towed the german Flak. 8.8!
It towed artillery yes, but they were also used as recovery vehicles. Despite their size and power it still took three 18 tonne Sd.Kfz.9's to pull one tiger!
Wow cool.. 👍
Уважение людям, так хорошо сохранившим историческую технику!
Да пошёл ты на Х...Й! вместе с такой историей
Bloody hellfire, that first half track is gigantic!
True, we tend to lose the sense of scale of these vehicles since most of us know them primarily from vintage photos, scale models or 3D graphics.
Yea itts gigantic i was on it costs 5 euro to get a ride.
+MAR COR Also you don't see people using normal clothing what helps to see tue scale better.

There's just something so satisfying about the sound of old engines, axles and tracks creaking and squeaking, etc.
Except if you are the Russian soldiers in the trench
If you are them that is terrifying
But the sound indeed satisfying

Großartig, diese Fahrzeuge in ihrem Element zu sehen.Toll, das manch einer dort auch mal ordentlich am Kabel gezogen hat.Sind halt > Fahrzeuge < !
Such an awesome collection of German WWII equipment!!!!!!!

Love the Kettenkrad but the Schwimmwagon was the best! What is not to love about an Amphibious vehicle?
I'm in love with the schwimmwagen.

Yes; but they made their problems even bigger by using civilian as well as catched enemy vehicles. ("Ergänzungsfahrzeuge/Beutefahrzeuge")

That FAMO has a good turn of speed for a 18 ton vehicle.
amazed to see the many different types of half tracks those Germans did produced
Great to see these machines running. What is amazing that's some pretty fair equipment by today's standards. I love those Kubelvagans.
Luv this. Thanks for posting.
the Sd.Kfz.9 at the beginning is moving just a little bit faster than I'm comfortable seeing one move
That's blitzkrieg speed.
Yeah, you are right.
The speed is impressive.
Those overlapping running wheels of German halftrack-vehicles are looking so sexy
Das ist fantastisch!naturlich!!!!
I think those half track motorcycles look bad ass.
i like those and the huge truck the most
They really do
All luxus for my eyes. Thanks for show
I kind of like how the public is given a chance to ride in them. In the US people are off limits as if they have the latest stealth fighter in secret components.
But there are places to ride antique tanks, etc. in America. These are antique German war vehicles, not modern day with secret electronics.
Holret here in fla there was a museum that you can ride in a M8 Greyhound armour reconnaissance vehicle. Sadly that museum isnt around anymore.
Me and the boys on our way to Poland
