@chopperwilson I mean no offense but I don't come to hear commentary, now that he's adding side by side clips, I can just skip to those to hear what they sound like. If u like hearing commentary then watch the whole thing
Crazy how the 6.4 in the trucks sound so much different than the cars. Manifolds and loooooong pipes change it dramatically. The X-Pipe and borla definitely sound the best
The main thing that makes truck engines sound different is that they all have unequal length exhausts. If you do equal length into an x pipe, you can give any truck engine that higher pitched sports car sound.
@@TexasSpeedManiacThat’s because the truck engines are designed differently. They’re not the same thing as the car engines. Just as how the LS has the Vortec variant for the Truck/SUV’s. The truck engines are designed with smaller intake and exhaust valves that has lower compression, and has more torque than the cars do, but the cars are designed for more HP. Also the added length of the truck/SUV, and the more hollow underneath of the body-on-frame design gives the truck engines a more deeper tone. I have always favored the sound of the truck engines over the somewhat similar car engines.
Theres another exhaust system that not many people know about which makes 392s sound amazing. Its called Zoomers Exhaust. Just look up a few videos with 2012 - 2014 Charger SRT8s with this exhaust.
I was listening to that straight pipe idle, and when they hit the gas I about came up out of my chair. But I think it sounds better with the muffler in the X pipe.
@@MidwestMotorIt sounds even worse in the lower compression truck variant of the same engines that the cars have. Monotone clapping with no tone whatsoever…..
I like that you added the comparison of before and after each job you do, and in this case I would have liked it to be with the X-pipe but with the straight exhaust, I love your work and you know how to find the exhaust tone in each vehicle
If u ever do a straight pipe and you don’t like the snapping at the end of a rev go up to a 3 inch pipe to a 5 inch tip then you will get a deep growl instead of the snapping
Love watching your channel - one thing to note, if you read this, is that saying "sound decibels" is redundant. Decibels are only used to measure sound (or sound power, SWL), so you can just say "decibels."
My parents have it now but I drove an 03 2500 Hemi regular cab in college. I put a Banks Monster Exhaust on it and loved the deep unique sound it had. Living on a farm though when you put a big trailer on it to haul stuff it was...rowdy but not kackle sounding like straight pipe. My grandpa used it to pull a trailer and loved going by people and laying on it. The only other time I ever ran across a banks gas exhaust was a nissan titan that of a marine recruiter that lived next to me in my college apartment. For all these known reasons I knew he'd likely be back for a muffler seeing that pintle hitch and knowing what they do. Even as a 36 year old I prefer a little deeper sound anyway.
I put a 5"ID in/out x 9" long resonator on my gas powered pickup. I missed the straight pipe immediately. You can put your leg in a 5" ID hole. 4" swallows a 4x4 board loosely. I thought about building a system with dual boom tubes out the sides in front of the back tires.
Omg the true dual straight pipe sounds amazing Iam very happy right now because this video thank you exhaust addicts i wish made more video have loud exhaust 💥💥💥
Straight-pipe sounds fun. Maybe just the X-pipe would've been enough to tame it. It's sounds about the same in the end as it did the beginning. The dual-exit looks a lot better though, that's for sure.
Borla has lower nicer rumble, the tru duel was just loud. I chopped my muffler and flapper valve off my silverado, but after get some money, putting an AWE system on. Sounds great, yet still pretty loud
I tried just dual pipes on my car and no only did it sound like ass, it lost performance too. Put the x-pipe back on and it sounds way better and smoother with much superior throttle response.
100 Db is as loud as an 8” 110v grinder, while it’s grinding metal. You obviously don’t know how loud things are. 130 Db is about 32% louder than 100Db. 100db is enough to cause temporary hearing damage, 130 is the equivalent to a passenger jet taking off and will cause permanent hearing damage right away. 130db also has the potential to cause internal injury to the brain. The sound waves if close enough to the exhaust tip will quite literally rattle your brain until you die. So how is 100db quiet? Especially if it causes hearing damage after only a few minutes of exposure. Y’all aren’t very educated on how to prevent hearing damage are you?
I have straight piped, cat delete for down-pipes, resonator delete for true dual & custom exhaust with valve copy of Hamann GLE63s exhaust. My GL500 x166 M278 went from 435hp too 447hp at the Dyno test. V8 Bi-Turbo the turbos guess love the straight pipes.

I remember seeing this truck with its old exhaust a week or 2 ago, it didn't sound great in person.
Straight pipe is just young guys want to sound tough n loud. We all go through that phase, but then you one day, you’ll value quality.
Not a chance everything will have had no cats no mufflers straight pipes to the day I die
Value Quality? Straight piped or not it’s still the same thing.
There's an in between point of having loud exhaust but not too loud. Just enough to hear those cylinders and some raspiness
But this is too loud for me, although sounds badass, that idle would make neighbors wanna assassinate me
Nah, he just needed an X-pipe to stop the clapping.
Should've started with a simple muffler delete, go from there. Might like it and stick with it and that's the least expensive option.
Growing up I always had the loudest trucks. I still think the louder the better 😂
If u ever do a straight pipe and you don’t like the snapping at the end of a rev go up to a 3 inch pipe to a 5 inch tip then you will get a deep growl instead of the snapping
