Best easter egg for me is that --like Alien and Aliens-- the 't-minus..' countdown happens in real time. @@michaelkearney5616I agree. Especially since they've said in multiple alien books that synthetic skin is just slightly too perfect to be human and that's exactly how rook's skin looked.
There were only 10 people in the cinema when I went to watch it today, but the way everyone gasped at that scene made me realise we were all in it together 😅
Dude when the egg opened up to a humanoid looking thing i nearly jumped outta my seat! What a reveal, I LOVED this movie. Saw it for the 2nd time today and yeah, its a wonderful addition to the Alien series
5:10 noo, it was actually triggered as a way to not let raine leave at all. Its prob the reason why most ppl in that colony aren’t able to leave cause the company just constantly raises the hours
I thought so too, and it was also likely illegal, its just who was going to stop the company, once under their power, you weren't an indentured servant, but a full on slave.
Loved this movie so much. I still really want to know about the original space jockey and why there was Alien eggs aboard its ship , that mystery needs to be solved .
The engineers where on their way to earth to take revenge on mankind for killing Jesus. No joke, that is Ridley Scott's explanation for why they where on their way to destroy earth. Jesus was send to earth by the Engineers to teach mankind & when they killed him they got furious & hopped on their spaceship. I wish I was joking 😭
The canary was used as an early warning device to detect carbon monoxide and if the canary died then it warned the miners to get out or they would be dead also.
It's both. Multiple ailments affect the colonists because it is the worst condition for a human to be in. This is why WY wants the xenos: their DNA healing properties and to send the creatures onto planets for terraforming.
14:50 - I like to think the Chest Burster's lethargy was due to the fact is wasn't properly formed due to a shortened Incubation period. If you note other Xenomorphs from Alien and Alien 3 all had over a Day or so before birth.
Nice! A few corrections. The tracker wasn't a motion tracker it detected heat signatures. The father of Kay's baby was Bjorn. And yeah Acheron was the name of LV426.
An increidble movie. Almost perfect film. SOOO refreshing to see a well done film overall. Acting, writing, script execution. Suspense, CGI besides the synthetic face. OUTSTANDING WORK
really wish they would've just reshot all the rook scenes with another actor and scratch the ian holm reference altogether. most of his scenes were through a monitor, anyway, so it wouldn't have been too hard
Makes me wonder, how many worlds did the engineers seed? How many different variations of Xenomorphs occurred from these other worlds; it, at all? How did the Predator race fall into this? Were they created by the Engineers as well to help purge or something?
@@dicedbyher if i recall correct like the AVP Comics, novels, and movies are not canon to either franchise. the same can be said for the Alien vs. Predator Vs. Terminator comics. but again i could be wrong
@@troylovel6714I think there is only one comic series which came out after Prometheus that has xx121s, engineers, the deacon, and predators which is the only time predators are confirmed to exist in the alien universe. There is also at least one short in the anthology book if it bleeds where they are the same the one I'm thinking of has an adolescent predator that's captured and put in a fighting ring on a space station. I'm pretty sure they're basically the same universe at this point.
The last portion had me going "euh" and "what the f**k". I went with two of my friends and I looked to the one who had already seen it and he was just laughing.
There's a really cool and ultra-obscure call-back in this movie during the opening sequence on the mining planet. In one of the shots there's a neon "BAR" sign in the background, and that sign exactly matches the look, color, and font of a BAR sign in 'Aliens'. The sign in Aliens is briefly visible right after the Marines land and are moving towards the door they use to enter the facility. You only see it on like your fifth watch of the movie, which shows that Fede Alvarez is a true fan of the originals
4:31 in this shot of Jackson’s Star, the bright red neon sign that says “Bar” is the same one found on the colony site that the Colonial Marines check out early on in “Aliens”
I appreciate that the directors always let the Xenomorph get lit up one way or a another. the satisfaction you feel after that thing has been jump scaring you the whole movie. thank you guys for the relief
I wouldn't say Romulus is the best Alien film of course, but I'd say its a definite improvement over Covenant. Also, not that I'd necessarily want a big ongoing cinematic universe, but I'd like a film that does canonically tie together Alien with Blade Runner and maybe the other franchises that seem to share continuity. I just think it would be cool.
Terminator, Aliens, and Blade Runner are all in the same universe, just at different points. Cyberdyne becomes Hyperdyne and Tyrell partners with Weyland Yutani.
What was so bad about covenant ? I’m just curious on your standpoint no judgment, I’m notorious for really liking movies that a lot of people say are bad lol😂 I think it’s cuz I just watch the movie and don’t think about anything extra, just what is in front of me and honestly I really liked covenant but I LOVED Romulus !!!
This movie was a perfect addition on my opinion. It masterfully weaved together the various fractured elements of the universe without shitting on any of them. It was great. Love the addition of Andy and that whole dynamic.
love the nod of those older models were always a bit twitchy, and even rook said he was an older model that predated him Andi was always twitchy. And the whole androids couldn't harm humans but they could let them die.
The details in this movie is unmatched. The mix of practical and CGI is absolutely perfect and they perfected the xenomorph and face huggers fear. I felt the fear of the characters. It was my favourite film of the year
Incredible movie but my god was that last jump scare scene perfect. "The Offspring" has to be the single most unsettling and horrifying thing I've ever seen in a movie. Loved it and maybe there's a sequel in the works?
Pretty sure the BAR sign on the Jackson planet in the beginning was the same sign as the bar at Hadley's Hope in the Aliens Special addition. Another nod to the great films by this great film. Nice job, Fede. Never a dull moment in this one. Truly as addictive as Alien and Aliens. (Only minor gripe to aspiring filmmakers is it needed 5 more mins of character development in the beginning so I cared when people died.)

When that thing smiles I died. 😵💫😵💫
I don’t know if I’m just making random connections but the scene with Rain shooting the aliens and face huggers in zero gravity gave me the feel of playing those alien arcade game shooters
David Jonsson and Cailee Spaeny killed it in this movie! Congrats Fede!
THIS MOVIE WAS SO NEEDED AFTER WHATEVER BORDERLANDS WAS 😭
I enjoyed it for what it was. But I don’t know much about borderland lore lol
@@PAPA76MACI also enjoyed it. I wasn't looking for a perfect movie.
I am honestly surprised people liked Alien Romulus. It seems that all people do is complain and are happy with nothing nowadays.
@@thec9424 ain’t that the truth
@@PAPA76MACyou can’t be serious? I never even played the game or knew nothing about the franchise and I left asking my self wtf did I just watch best part of the movie was literally a cgi robot literally that’s all lmfao borderlands is no joke one of the worst movies I’ve seen to this date and that’s just a fact and numbers are definitely showing it
You might be the only person that saw borderlands lol
So do we have any idea what the point of the blue laser layer is about? It prompted Andy to stop as if it was meaningful.
^
the CGI they used for the science officer rook was was the 2nd most terrifying thing in this movie. its so strange how good CGI is these days but its still not possible to do people talking without it doing the uncanny valley thing. all i could think of was "wheres you head at" by bassment jaxx haha
Good point, but in this instance (for an Android character) I feel the uncanny valley sort of works for a near-Human character
@@michaelkearney5616I agree. Especially since they've said in multiple alien books that synthetic skin is just slightly too perfect to be human and that's exactly how rook's skin looked.
24:39 when this came up on the screen everyone in the movie theater was screaming holy s!$%
Stg that shit was fucked up yo 🫣😭
There were only 10 people in the cinema when I went to watch it today, but the way everyone gasped at that scene made me realise we were all in it together 😅
The baby was obviously Bjorns.. thats why they shared that very intimate interaction before he died.
But I thought Bjorn was dating the Asian character?
@@phillaysheo8 infidelity exists
I interpreted that as a family moment, them being cousins, growing up together and looking out for each other. I didn't think incest at all.
Don't think so, they're cousins, and ahe does say that "it's just some asshole", they seemed to have a good bond so idk.
@@phillaysheo8 I saw no connection between Bjorn and Navarro. I thought Navarro was a lesbian
Agreed
This was addressed in Prometheus….
@MafoMakaveli no it wasn't. Not completely
Were they not there to be deployed as weapons?
The engineers where on their way to earth to take revenge on mankind for killing Jesus. No joke, that is Ridley Scott's explanation for why they where on their way to destroy earth.
Jesus was send to earth by the Engineers to teach mankind & when they killed him they got furious & hopped on their spaceship.
I wish I was joking 😭
4:41 I thought it was "lung disease", hence the shot with the canary later
The canary was used as an early warning device to detect carbon monoxide and if the canary died then it warned the miners to get out or they would be dead also.
It's both. Multiple ailments affect the colonists because it is the worst condition for a human to be in. This is why WY wants the xenos: their DNA healing properties and to send the creatures onto planets for terraforming.
I absolutely Loved the Copious amounts of Alien Isolation References there was in this movie!
Literally coming out of the cinema. What a timing 😦
The Offspring’s inner jaw looked kinda like a miniature trilobite from Prometheus
I thought it looked like the tongues from the FX series The Strain…
I thought it looked like my tongue
14:50 - I like to think the Chest Burster's lethargy was due to the fact is wasn't properly formed due to a shortened Incubation period. If you note other Xenomorphs from Alien and Alien 3 all had over a Day or so before birth.
Yes, hence the transparency in the head, thought it was implied that, even had difficulty getting out of the chest
Nice! A few corrections. The tracker wasn't a motion tracker it detected heat signatures. The father of Kay's baby was Bjorn. And yeah Acheron was the name of LV426.
Proof?
True it was a heat tracker. That's how they found the very cold cyro pods fuel.
Another fun little nod to Alien movies past: the fanfare for the 20th Century Studios is the same one as the one from Alien 3
The "baby" gave me even more reasons for not having kids lol
Why is there ring of power s2 throughout the vid lol?
I think they were sponsored by Amazon
They fr got two paid promotions in one video 💀
its so weird and distracting
@@cambodia21 Yes, it was.
pretty sure the father of the baby is the cousin.
what cousin?
@@bamboleo901 the dude who has a problem with Andy- he is their cousin, they share this moment right before the xenomorph cocoon
@@bamboleo901Bjorn, right before he electrocutes the wallgina, he and Kay look at each other in a way that not all cousins do.
No way 😮
An increidble movie.
This movie is great. All the cast played their characters to perfection. Been a while since I saw a movie this entertaining.
The Offspring’s inner mouth jaw reminds me of the Reaper strain Vampires from Blade 2.
16:10 just the alien casually smiling next to his actor at the red carpet makes me laugh 😂
Makes me wonder, how many worlds did the engineers seed? How many different variations of Xenomorphs occurred from these other worlds; it, at all? How did the Predator race fall into this? Were they created by the Engineers as well to help purge or something?
AVP isnt cannon so they dont fall into it at all. Predator is its own universe and AVP is its own. Blade Runner and Alien are in the same universe.
@@Flat_3_6 wait so the predators arent in this same universe? How is that possible if later they are in war?
You didn’t mention that Rain wakes up almost same frame as Ripley and when rain blocks the sun, the shade looks like an alien’s hand
Anyone else notice the save stations out of alien isolation making an appearance??
I thought that was pretty neat!
The Metapod and Kakuna reference completely made my day !
4:31 in this shot of Jackson’s Star, the bright red neon sign that says “Bar” is the same one found on the colony site that the Colonial Marines check out early on in “Aliens”
In alien isolation too!
Was really hoping someone would mention that
I appreciate that the directors always let the Xenomorph get lit up one way or a another. the satisfaction you feel after that thing has been jump scaring you the whole movie. thank you guys for the relief
This movie gave me so much hope for the classic movie franchises.
This was my first Alien movie, very very fun.
Cyberdyne becomes Hyperdyne and Tyrell partners with Weyland Yutani.
there's a theory that Charlize Theron's character in Prometheus is actually a "replicant" and not an android, so there's potentially that...
We need perfect humans. Ignoring perfectly good synthetics that do everything they're looking for😅
The original Alien movie is a masterpiece.
a racist masterpiece
@@dragonknightofamiraka3636 ahahaha carry on
I recently watched it for the first time and it was good but I guess I think it’s a bit overhyped cause I would not call it a masterpiece
Put some respect on this masterpiece 🏆 💯
I liked this movie. That hybrid was more creepy than the one from alien resurrection
I friggin loved the movie.
People were on the edge of their seats when that thing was born.
The details in this movie is unmatched. The mix of practical and CGI is absolutely perfect and they perfected the xenomorph and face huggers fear. I felt the fear of the characters. It was my favourite film of the year
I don’t think the facehuggers were in cryo sleep. The screen in the room that has an image of the facehugger says “PRINTING” beneath it
Incredible movie but my god was that last jump scare scene perfect. "The Offspring" has to be the single most unsettling and horrifying thing I've ever seen in a movie. Loved it and maybe there's a sequel in the works?
Isn’t the smoothed headed xenomorphs called drones I thought warriors had the rigid skull like the one in aliens
Yes it is, i also noticed that
Great bridge to the originals, glad they showed it in theaters and not just Hulu
Now we need the sequel to covenant or an in between with Shaw
