    I'm a casual snooker player, I watched this video in a taxi on my way to the club and I found out that I'm right eye dominant.That little adjustement helped me beat my best break which was 15. I made a good 32 break today. Thank you !

    Thanks a lot for such a great and extensive explanation. I learnt so much in this 13 minutes clip that hadn't in 3 years of playing snooker. Somehow I do not know why can't I pot the balls and it's really frustrating. I even miss so simple and straight pots that makes me go mad. I really do not know how to improve, I know it's through practice and practice but it simply doesn't work. Could be many tricks that I am not familiar. I must have spent around £500.00 on various cues but still not playing well. And I wont give up even I am always annoyed and frustrated.

      Snooker is the game of nerve, once you are frustrated you are gone. Develop your stance and work on it. Keep cueing for 5 to 10 mins regularly according to stance this video teaches, then try to pot the balls with keeping cue at center of cue ball avoiding any unintentional siding, once you are good in potting try with some siding and positional shots, futhermore try to play with biger player rather with those who just take it as a timepass if you really want to be a good player.

      Bro i am the same really frusted i have been playing for 3years now but sometime i play really well i have made a break of 50 as well and some days i struggle to just pot a plain ball creul game...i belive it mostly depends upon your confidance if your are confident enought you can pot every damn ball on the table no matter where they are placed

    • @himshrey
      @himshrey 2 года назад

      Before getting into the shot, try thinking about how you're going to play it, visualise everything, the pace, where you want the cue ball to go so that you can play the next shot, the spin required, how your stance is going to be, whether or not a safety shot is required, everything. I developed this thinking method to improve my game and it is still improving. You can't just go there casually and get into the shot and think how will you pot this.

    Yep I've been playing for 30 years not realising I should be playing with my right eye down the cue. I thought the chin was used to steady the cue!

  • @simonprice2722

    the content about the master or dominant eye at 13:00 is NOT something you need to worry about in technique I don't think.. The explanation in this video is that one eye is stronger than the other. This is what we refer to in having a dominant eye and it is a very slight difference (to the effect of power of an eye over another) in most people. It is the case but it doesn't mean EVERY PERSON WHO IS HUMAN doesn't take equal information from both eyes straight down the nose, with so called binocular vision. This is the ideal of where the cue should be i.e. down the nose. It is postulated that some pro players sight over a dominant eye, but it doesn't necessarily follow that if they are right or left eye dominant they sight with the right or left eye respectively. Its a matter of preference and habit rather than anything else.

    Grip should be very lax using mostly three finger.. gripping like that will cause the queue go astray from straight line

    If your even eyed what stance is best practice ? Basically I don't have a dominant eye, if I could deliver the cue when I'm square to the table it would be right from the center of my body and my nose would be right over top the cue that obviously can't happen as my body is in the way. In the video he mentions how right and left eyed dominate players should stand but not equal eyed players. I should also mention I'm 6'1

    • @todddoyle3827
      @todddoyle3827 6 лет назад

      I highly doubt that you do not have a dominant eye.

    • @dnbmania
      @dnbmania 5 лет назад

      Stance shouldn't matter if you're even sighted. It is purely what works for you as long as it is stable. Pro player kyren Wilson bends both legs because he is tall and he still plays to a very high level so I believe it is mostly preference

    at 6:15 you can see the cue rotates as the cue goes back and forward. This is not good technique as any rotational twisting movement of the cue at the hand cue point can promote the movement of the cue off line. You are trying to keep the cue online by a good inert grip. As the hand gets involved in twisting it more easily aids lateral movement which can move the cue sideways and not in a straight motion. This is not to say all 'twisters' move the cue offline, its just easier to do so. Opposed to this is where the cue doesn't rotate - see most modern pros techniques. I think this is Terry's arm but still its not good technique. If you do rotate the cue this way, try loosening the first finger and grip the cue with the fingers at the back. Alex Higgins used to grip in this way and you would often see his first finger off the cue and pointing down at the ground. The first finger with the thumb can be seen to be rotating the cue. Take this so called 'trigger finger' out of the equation and the cue will not rotate as much.
