When I first started doing bodyweight exercises, I could only do different types of pushups since I didn't have any equipment. Once I got dip bars and started doing dips regularly, my shoulders and triceps got considerably bigger. Doing them together with pushups and also using the dip bars to do bodyweight rows will blow up your upper body.
@@NeutralChip Since I wasn't doing any dips before I got the dip bars, not long at all. I just remember looking in the mirror one day, and my shoulders looked bigger. My chest was more defined. Getting dip bars is a good investment. The key, as with anything, is to stay consistent. Good luck!
Depending on your stage in strength training you can even do 200 dips a day without any issue...resting maybe on day 7 each week...triceps have a much quicker recovery cycle than larger muscle groups
@@Fitnessdy I have been off training for a while but had tried to work up to 100 a day and 200 was also possible a day but best to rest two days a week if doing that and split them 60 to 70 morning/ afternoon/ evening or afternoon/ night
Skull crushers are my main weakness for the triceps. And back bows are absolutely killing me :))) I will celebrate the day I can do one good back bow :)))
I am 70 year old man who has been training almost every day you are absolutely right about what you are saying about dip training for the upper body of my dip training I start early in the morning between 600, or 1000 ,100th each time I feel great after working out 😊😊
Ya its great exercise and i have started doing it from last 10days and i see my forearm strength increased, my arm strength increased, chest shape, tummy fat decreased, overall arm strength increased and now i can do heavy weight lifting with my arms compare to before starting it. Good workout. I am doing daily 5 days a week as warm up exercise. 10-20reps max
Yesss, I messed that up :)) I was trying to say that (up to) 10 dips per day are great. But if you do sets of 20-30 or more, you should leave a rest day in between
Confused started by saying 20 to 30 reps & to not over do it doing so a few days a week . Then ended by saying you can do it then everyday ? Lol I have a bad shoulder from years of playing baseball that being said I have implemented dips again started 3 sets of 10 and like a week later I am up to 5 sets of 10 but to be 100% honest I am sore for 3/4 days after that being said how can you say do them EVERYDAY is beyond crazy 💪🏻😬
Well, I did say 20-30 dips is enough with a rest day in between. But, you can do 10 dips or less safely each day as a warm-up. Or, you can do the easier tricep-dip alternatives and then, get away with doing it every day. Also, I know people who do many more dips every day safely. Not 50 like you - that's a whole lot :D
If you can do 5 sets of 10, try Down Dips, you`ll love them. Do 10 dips , short rest , then 9 , 8, 7, 6 etc. Decrease the rest time week by week. Gradually increase the start number , 11 down, 12 down etc which adds a lot of dips.. If you need even more of a challenge, hold at the top of the dip (iso hold) during the rest periods :)
Hi, it's very easy to forget about breathing, but just remember to do it , LOL I've done like 9 dips while holding my breath,Not meaning to do that,so yeah breathe!
There are different strategies for hypertrophy in terms of reps, and yes, you can use triceps dips as part of your plan. For example, one strategy that builds both muscle mass and endurance is 4 sets of 15 reps. I prefer to do more sets that go progressively harder, such as: The first set: 10 reps off a box or sofa, with knees at 90 degrees Second set: 10 reps off a box or sofa, with legs straight in front Third set: 20 reps off a box or sofa, with legs straight in front Fourth set: 20 reps off a box or sofa, with legs straight in front and a weight on your lap Fifth set (pyramid set): As many reps as you can with with legs straight in front and a weight on your lap When you can't do it anymore, lose the weight and continue with your legs straight When you can't do it anymore, put your knees at a 90-degree angle When you can't do it anymore, you're done :) Rinse and repeat with other bodyweight or weighted exercises. Let me know if you like it. And if you want a personalized training plan, check out the channel's description!
Hey, thanks for your feedback. I definitely understand where you're coming from so I won't ask for additional explanations 😀 the point I was trying (and possibly failing) to make is that when you push too hard, too much, pros can become cons fast
10 dips is not that much though I get your point about over exercising the same muscle group with the same exercise. However, a balanced workout program can include 10 dips per day, no worries
Don't let the title fool you. 10 dips a day in 30 days won't do jack shit. Maybe if you had 50 or 100 lbs extra weight strapped on. Yeah, it's better than nothing but your gonna have to do way more than that and over way longer time to notice any difference.
It may very well be your honest opinion but it's still incorrect and that's a fact, not an opinion. 10 dips, or even less, can be a good starting point to increase number of reps and overall volume over time, so to say 10 dips do nothing simply isn't true. Additionally, I started doing 3 sets 6 of assisted dips a number of years ago, I now to 5 sets 15 unassisted quite easily and within weeks of starting the assisted dips there was a visible difference in my chest and triceps. I won't even try weighted dips at my age, which is 53, as the risk of injury is too high and recovery at my age is so slow.
Thank you for the feedback, but I would disagree with that 🙂 You can actually do exercise every day for the same body part if you don't train to failure. In this case, 10 dips a day adapted to your strength level are fine. Have you read the book 'Solitary Fitness'? It's about training in prison and building muscle with just bodyweight by doing the same exercises every day. This is just one book, but there are more in the genre that are really good.
Why not? I think it's a great arm exercise for beginners. When I first started training, my trainer gave me some exercises that I was supposed to repeat daily to build up strength. Bodyweight bridges, wall squats, and tricep dips were some of them.
@@Fitnessdy You have limited resources available for muscle repair and adaptation. If you create too much damage to the same muscles by doing dips everyday those finite resource will go mostly into repair not adaptation.
Dips are a great exercise. Hard to cheat on them, that's why so many guys dodge them at the gym!
You can cheat at my gym. They have a machine.
Most can’t do dips or pull ups .
😆
They can also be dangerous for people with shoulder problems or terrible form. I love them but it is definitely key to keep good form

Do you do 200 per day? Otherwise yes, small muscles do recover faster. Some ice pads and massage help too. And lots of sleep.

Can dips be done with inguinal hernia.

what's is the breathing pattern while doing dips plz reply me
Exhale on concentric (when you push down on the bar), inhale on eccentric
(as you let yourself down slowly)
