    My sister was ventilated for almost 2 weeks! She was pretty bad, suffering from Covid19. The doctors told us she probably wouldn't make it. On the way to decide whether to "pull the plug " , the doctors said she was improving. By the grace of God, six months later, my sister is walking, talking and full of life! She is in a Care facility and working everyday to be independent. We are so grateful and thankful 🙏 🙌 ❤.

      May God continue to bless your sister. Every story that I hear about people recovering from being on a ventilator and surviving it is definitely a miracle. Many people are not so lucky. I believe that so many lives lost from covid-19 could have been spared if they in fact got the vaccine. Although many people won't get vaccinated there are so many that did, me being one of them. It's too many times that it's taken someone dying to reach that decision.

Within 2 hours of dropping her off at the hospital she was ventilated. I couldn't believe how fast everything went downhill. Trying to tend to 2 of my kids, 17 & 14, and a new born. Sorry for the length of this comment-
    My mom, she had just turned 70, was in the hospital in late January 2020 for low oxygen levels and high co2 levels. She was laid up for about a month and at the end of February she was sent to a nursing home for rehab to get her walking and to get her back home. Around that time we found out she had liver cirrhosis, which was a shock because when you think of liver cirrhosis you think of alcohol.. But she wasn’t a drinker, she had other health problems that caused it. After getting to the nursing home, she started going back and forth to the hospital every couple of days because she had high ammonia levels because of the liver cirrhosis and it was causing Hepatic Encephalopathy. The ammonia was poisoning her, basically killing her brain. She ended up just staying in the hospital and was sedated and put on a ventilator. By now, Covid was starting and the hospitals were starting to lock out visitors. I got in one last time because of a meeting with her doctor. That was March 15th. Being on a vent and sedated, she couldn’t call me, or FaceTime me. She wasn’t awake. So I’d call the nurses station every few days for updates. It was always, she comfortable, sedated and non responsive. We weren’t allowed to visit. Even thought she was out of it, we still wanted to be there. Besides my kids, my mom is all I have. She was my mom and my best friend. And I couldn’t see her or talk to her. On April 14th, the hospital called and said her stats were taking a dive and there wasn’t much they could do with the liver cirrhosis and they wanted me to make a decision. I told them I wouldn’t make any decision until I saw her. So I got administrative permission for my daughter and I to stay with my mom until she passed. She’d already spent a month with no one to see her and I didn’t want her to die alone. She was taken off the vent and breathed on her own for 24 hours and then passed away on April 15th 2020. She never had Covid but because of pandemic restrictions she had to spend that last month completely alone. She may have been sedated but it’s the fact that we knew she was alone. And that tears me apart a year and a half later.
    I hate what families have had to go through because of this pandemic. And people just don’t understand how heart breaking and gut wrenching it is to have someone you love affected by it. Directly or indirectly.

I’m fortunate that my daughter and I were given permission to see her one last time. But my son didn’t get to see her because they didn’t want anyone under 18 in the hospital. My husband couldn’t go in either.
      And I know the nursing staff were there but when all this was going on, they were so overwhelmed I just can’t see a nurse sitting in with every single person that died so they wouldn’t be alone.

    As a COVID ICU chaplain, this brought me to tears. I have witnessed the power of prayer & mothers’ love help them persevere, and it is truly the most amazing thing. However, I’ve also witnessed so many parents of young children die. I am delighted for this family, but her story is truly extremely exceptional. Without balancing this story with at least 10 such detailed stories that end tragically, people will have a distorted sense of what medicine can do. And THAT is a problem not only because it gives false hope and makes it even harder for families when their 30-something, otherwise healthy spouse/parent cannot overcome the virus, but also because this sort of distortion enables society to tolerate an intolerable demand on our human, exhaustible, irreplaceable medical staff who are traumatized by the unimaginable increase in deaths they now face.

      And Nikki? I don't even know who you are, but I am telling you that your mom surviving and being here with you, is amazing!! It IS NOT on your shoulders, to carry the weight of what God didn't do for millions of others. You have every right to be happy and enjoy the fact that you still have your mom 💞💞 I wish more people would think of it that way, vs 'well what about everyone who died? God wasn't there for THEM' that's just a really selfish, degrading thing to say to someone who is sharing their relief and happiness that their loved one survived what they went through. 💞

    • @easypimpin123
      @easypimpin123 2 года назад

      @@amorrissey9264 the point of my comment was to demonstrate the absurdity of thinking that a person living in a 1st world nation with access to healthcare surviving a terrible illness is somehow the work of a god and not medical science and economic opportunity. And the reason this is the case is because there is no evidence that a god actually exists. It’s just feel good stories that people tell each other to feel better about things.
      The reason why this woman survived is because of the hard work of doctors and nurses using science and technology, not god. That’s why mortality rates in places without access to proper medical care is much higher. It’s not because those people weren’t praying hard enough. The only thing that’s demeaning and offensive is to suggest that a rich American survived an illness because god was playing favorites with wealthy Americans but has clearly ignored the 3rd world. When you live in a wealthy country that has access to science and technology, you will probably live. When you live in country that is poor and doesn’t have access to science and technology then you will probably die. A god doesn’t factor into that equation at all.

      @@Danny451 HI. Have you considered asking God why? Or do you not believe in God and are challenging those that do? I prayed for my dad to be healed of cancer. Our church and many others prayed and fasted. The Lord took him home with him. I had to accept God's Sovereignty. He says yes to some prayers and no to others. All the bad things that happen in this world are not God's fault. If you truly are looking for answers talk Him and ask Him to lead you to a good bible-based church. One thing for sure I know is that He gave his only Son Jesus to die for your sins. The God of this universe loves YOU and wants a relationship with YOU-not religion. Hope and pray 🙏🏾 you are open to Him.

I totally understand her hesitation to get the vaccine after her baby was delivered due to fear it would hurt her baby. As a young black women, I felt the same. this is so amazing!!! I cried like crazy!!! similar story as my father who was in an ECMO machine, ventilator, his heart stopped, both his lungs collapsed and even a doctor told us "miracles don't exist, only science" with all that my mother and I will drive 4 hours everyday to go see my father. my mom even moved to be in the same city now that he is in...he is still fighting with oxygen only and trying to walk again. all this since December 2020. hopefully, for him to come back home to all of us who miss him so much & after almost 2 years.
    I'm so glad this Mom was able to go back to her babies!!!
