    I really like the detail of the new facial animation, but I like how the old facial animation was a bit smoother because each facial position wasn't much different than the previous.

      gotcha gotcha, I took inspiration from the lego movie mostly for this style - My plan is to expand the library of mouths over time so different characters can have different intensities of expression when talking. Thanks for the critique - it helps to know what people other than myself are looking for with these things 🙏

    That's amazing how much effort you put into this, the animation was great and humorous. That gets a subscription from me

    I think on some frames you still have to make sure the black and the white comply to the base image black and white levels. That kind of color correcting is what will push it the next step to perfection

    • @Onbeatman
      @Onbeatman  3 года назад +1

      The correction was actually adjusted frame by frame on this one and used reference images of real faces all along the way. I even deviated from the reference on some shots where I thought the real face was too black or white haha. It's a difficult balance when doing this kind of thing because when everyone is fixated on "how was this done" sometimes even a real image can start to look incorrect or fake. With each video, there will always be improvements to come for sure - so thanks for the critique. it always does help to know what to focus on more for future videos 🙏

    My girlfriend is the same. She doesn’t know that I do stop motion though. But she is great at making dialogue.

    Did you create the mouth elements for what you use before this as well? I’m curious where you get/how you can make mouth and eye elements to use for my own animations 😁

    • @Onbeatman
      @Onbeatman  3 года назад +1

      yeah, I've always made my mouths from scratch! But that's not the only way it's possible. If you are looking to get started with mouths in general, a simple talk cycle isn't too hard to find. I'm simply putting these advanced elements that I made on Patreon because they took a really long time to make and texture specifically for Lego minifigs👌

    Thank you for sharing your awesome work! however, (please don't hate me) Why are you putting the mouth on a green background? With Photoshop, you can build all of your mouth layers, delete the background layer, and all of your mouths would be on a transparent background that after-effects can natively see. No key necessary. As well, and I am not 100% sure but if you want sharper lined mouths, I believe you can build the mouths in Adobe Illustrator, and again the backgrounds would be transparent. It's been a while since I've used AI with AE though. Love your channel, and your amazing work! I was just thinking out loud feel free to disregard.

    can you make it so you don't have to pay for the green screen pls I can't become a patreon

    • @Onbeatman
      @Onbeatman  3 года назад +1

      It took a really long time to make these advanced textured elements so that's why they're only available on Patreon. You can find standard mouth elements online easily that work for getting started. This is simply set up this way because these are premium elements made from scratch - they aren't required to get started! In my (Brick) Film School series next week I will try to find some free mouths to link to 👍
