You Irish folk just dont realise just how much your music is adored by us Brits, especially this Englishman, Hand Me Down My Bible was one of my first songs that got me attracted to Irish music and i havent looked back since, have so much material of Luke AND The Dubliners it is unreal, also a huge Foster & Allen, Fureys and Brendon Shine fan
He looks straight to Ronnie as if to admit the mistake, Ronnie beamed back as if to say 'yeah fucked that one up'. Not a beat skipped and sounded even better than without a mistake. We will never see the like again.
'Raw' is definitely the word - I always love how there are rough edges to both his singing and his playing, no frills at all. He was the original punk.
if you check out this songwirter on his facebook you will find a song in which he thianks on eor more native american tribe to send money in the 1840th. youtube seems to take some of his songs down and back up weekly. and I can´t rember the name of the song right now. thank you to the native american tribes who send help when the people where in deep trouble.
There's nothing like watching Luke Kelly. I discovered him thanks to RUclips. And I knew from the first notes he sang that the man was a legend in Irish folk music. It's nothing particular about the man...save his passion. Luke just knows how to sing the song the was meant to be performed. Others do it pretty. Luke did it correctly.

Luke Kelly is a legend. His voice is amazing. I wish he was alive today would love to watch this man sing. There will never be such a great singer like Luke Kelly such passion. RIP true legend never forgotten.
Amazing scene 1:20 when Luke makes mistake and feels a little bit uncomfortable... 😊 Unbelievable singer, great musicians and artists, the best Dubliners' line-up, by all means! Their music makes my life beautiful in 2024. And this performance was 54 years ago.
My 4 year old heard his voice for a few mins as he's a fan of this song but a different version so i skipped on , when he heard Luke Kelly he said put the man back on! He was belting it away on the way to preschool this morning.
May 2nd 2024! But tbh I come here regularly, cheers from Kentucky, U.S.A! To any one sees this from wherever you maybe, I'm glad your there and wish you the best!
Everything Luke Kelly sang turned to gold, as everyone knows, but he definitely didn't or couldn't overshadow the rest of the band. Every single one of them could make any of their peers sound as dull as dishwater. The "original Dubliners", as they're called - this one - just had something magical about them that's never been repeated. They had everything.
Isn't it great that artists such as Lukey can be experienced by the world even at this time. A true hero, a class act who had the X factor before the shams!! Long live the voice and the memory
i love when bands like this sing gospel songs. todays christian music doesnt have the heart of these guys, take johnny cash and elvis for example. they sang from the heart and soul and thats why the old dudes like the dubliners are amazing and are definatley one of the greatest bands to ever live
Luke kelly is hands down me favourite singer of all time.another legend who left us far too young.he was so passionate in his songs he threw his head back at top of his voice and gave it emotional feeling and he didn't have this for the song at the time he wouldn't sing it.with so many songs to choose from these ones will always stand out to me.raglan road scorn not his simplicity the town i loved so well foggy dew rocky road to Dublin and the springhill mine disaster and i could keep going for hours.rip luke

Great lyrics, great singer, great band, what more could you want. Miss all of u terribly, Ronnie, Luke, Ciaran and Barney. God bless. Long live the Dubliners through their brilliant music and the memories of those people who heard them play their magic..
You're probs right, I meant it as a compliment to the Dubliners, and in particular Luke Kelly's talent. Fabulous group, I could listen to them all night. Best wishes.

They were before my time . But I wish I had the chance to meet Luke Kelly , and shake the hand of ALL the original Dubliners. 💖💖💖💖💖 They looked like they were always having such a great time . 😍😍😍😍😍 C
I absolutely love the Dubliners... growing up as a young man and going through crazy amounts of life changing things right now- this song brings a huge smile to my face. God bless the dubs.
@TheMandolinMan2 I think what makes this a great song is Luke Kelly. He gives so much energy to his performance you don't care what the subject of the song is about.

Nah wouldnt forget the band, All for one and one for all! Bless those who are still alive and rest in peace to those who have left us bereft of their energy, mischief and sound. Have not heard anyone like them anywhere. Like many another fan, have to get my fix every day.
It's impressive to see how music and internet break barriers : me, a brazilian boy, hearing this so much time after the releasing date.

The definitive lineup. Never bettered.
Luke Kelly was the Irish Bob Marley, He was the voice of a whole race!
Well siad

I shouldn`t have said race,I meant he was the voice of the Irish people

Luke Kelly was the best from ireland and allso the Dubliners
No doubt a brilliant singer if he was American would be a multi millionaire RIP Luke god be Good to you great Irishman
The dubliners in their prime were were light years ahead of every other folk Group, nobody popularised Irish folk like the dubs

If only Church was like this--I'd be there every Sunday.
evangelical church.
Omg...it is but Church is for worshipping God, not having a huge party. 😂 Like seriously would you want people to cheer, scream and hollar during YOUR solemn occasions? Probably not.
An Irish rainbow of colours drowned out by pure Irish folk singing at its best
It's truly sad that so many of us never had the opportunity to be entertained by these great musicians !

Luke was a true performer full of raw talent. I love how he makes a mistake at 1.21, pulls a massive smile, and then just carries on. A true legend.
Man I do that all the time 😅😅
good catch
He does look a little bashful as he shots a look at Ronnie but is straight back in to it.

Luke Kelly is a legend. His voice is amazing. I wish he was alive today would love to watch this man sing. There will never be such a great singer like Luke Kelly such passion. RIP true legend never forgotten.

Luke Kelly is to Irish music,
Similar to what Freddie Mercury was to Rock music,
Never will another voice compare to or replace them,
How someone could put so much energy and soulfullness into singing is beyond me. One of those things unique to Luke i suppose
He would only be in his 70’s. So tragic!
Oh so heartbreaking I would love to have met him what a national hero💖
Had they known Luke's cancer had come back he could have been saved

The Dubliners make me proud to be Irish , they were the definition of our Island, can't help but tap your foot to this one.. :)
Now Ireland is just another "multicultural" area. Just like all of Europe.
Everything Luke Kelly sang turned to gold, as everyone knows, but he definitely didn't or couldn't overshadow the rest of the band.
