      What’s the point of copying someone’s tone on an amp that’s way to big to use for most situations. Unless you crank it wide open it’s not happening

    • @adamwatson6916

      @Tangman4209 maybe The point of doing it is for fun and to learn what it takes to recreate that sound.
      Learning fun and personal enjoyment.
      Also many people end up finding their own sound when experimenting with different rigs and signal chains .
      Most importantly there is no reason to do it if you have the gear and ability.
      Why do so many poeple always want to place all these weird rules and restrictions on what people can learn or do with their own gear.
      Just because you don't see the point in this doesn't prove its pointless..
      A 100 watt amp in not going to be usable in most situations for every guitar player alive but you should know how to dial one in for the situations you can use them in ..
      In reality you don't need a point to copy another players tone . You do it for fun and because you can . If it makes you happy to chase Jimmy Page tone there is no reason not to

      The tone is good but he is still pretty far off.
      I have heard others get much Closer .
      Pages tone was much cleaner than what you hear in this Video .
      I have heard people get closer with less expensive set ups.
      Page Played Modded Marshall Super Bass amps and not Superlead Amps. His main Amp beginning in early 72 was a Modded 1968 Superbass with 6550 tubes and not EL34s. Prior to February 72 Page was using 2 custom built 1969 100 watt Hiwatt heads which were a slightly boosted version of the Hiwatt DR 103 Amps They were cleaner than a Marshall but had more overdrive than a Standard DR 103. They were very unique sounding. Page used those from July 69 to The end of December 1971. He went Marshall in ealry 72 and the 68 Super bass was his main which he also ran through Marhsall 1982 model Bass cabs that had Celestion Bass Cone G12H30 speakers . He had 2 and sometimes 3 additional Marshall 100s which were modded eventually as well around 1975. They were modded for more clean Headroom and the EL34s were replaced with KT88s and the superbass had the 6550 tubes . So Page never really used EL34 Marshall's all that much . His Hiwatts had EL34 but they sounded quite different from an EL34 Marshall ..
      El34 and 25 watt Greenback M are what people Assume for his 1972 and 73 Classic Marshall tone period but its 6550 and G12H30 55Hz bass cone speakers

    Really great video. Thanks for sharing. They are also known as "ghost notes" (turning up the unused channel) and although I can't speak for the 1959HW RI they certainly exist on the SV20 I have.

    As an owner of a plexi, I just turn everything up to 10 (high channel only) with the exception of the presence at 6, and then tweak with guitar tone and volume. Quite possibly the easiest amp to plug into and not get lost in constant tweaking. THD Hotplate as an attenuator so I don't die!

    • @jaredbader1415
      @jaredbader1415  9 месяцев назад

      Good point. I think approaching it from a Zeppelin cover or tribute scenario it's a little more important to keep the volume lower for more dynamics and cleaner tones when you back your guitar volume pots off. Then finding ways to get more tone at less volume like with the EP preamp. But you are absolutely right about just diming it. That is what you are supposed to do with a plexi. And that is what I would do when playing mostly anything other than Zeppelin 👍

    I agree the "weaker" pickups sound better. I have an SG from 1984 and I think the magnets are just getting weak because of age and I find it much easier to get a good tone with it rather than on a newer Les Paul with that has much "hotter" pick ups

    You’re really close to 1972 (how the west was won) tone.
    1972 & 1970 were his best live tones, so I think.

    Hi,
    Loved the Dazed and Confused improvisation with the bow and delay. What guitar do you use when playing Song Remains the Same, Rain Song and Stairway to Heaven in your tribute band? FYI Bryan Williams also does a set of pickups that emulate the circa MSG 1973 twin neck sound.

    • @jaredbader1415
      @jaredbader1415  9 месяцев назад

      I use an Epiphone double neck with Gibson pickups. I should really get Bryan's pickups for that too.

    Did I hear you say the 2nd channel fattens up if you turn it up and not jumper it? I'm really sleepy now so forgive my dumb question as I never knew this. I have to crank my amp to 9 in order to thickn up.

    Do you really use both ep3 preamps?

    • @jaredbader1415
      @jaredbader1415  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes the bellepoch preamp is on when you engage the EP delay. Or you can set it up as always on but you can't turn it completely off. However, this preamp is not as good as the clinchfx. So I end up with both preamps on when I engage the bellepoch. I don't find that it makes anything muddy though. If anything it gives it a clean more open sound which is great 👍
