I’m not a children, I’m actually is adult. And what you saying, is exactly what happens to me. It’s a lot of H and S sounds. But the thing is, I can talk to myself better than talk to others. It means, I can talk all those words with no problem. But when it become with others, that’s starting to happening. 😢 I might need to try those techniques on child which on me

Maybe you're just anxies/shy around people. Don't overthink about what you're going to say and don't be too focused on yourself, focus more on the person in front of you and your surroundings.

Hi there! I stumbled across your channel when I was a SALT student and it's so great! I'm an Adult SLT and I'm just starting a channel as I don't think there are many video resources out there for adults (plus with CV now is the perfect time!). I was just wondering what you use to film and edit your videos? I've started with my smart phone and using a basic free editing app on my phone, but I would really appreciate your tips :) thanks! Shell.

Hi there Shell. Great to hear from you! So fab to hear of more therapists looking to use video to share ideas and resources. I'm going to make a video on this subject very soon, so watch this space!

My son is 34 months and has trouble with saying sounds in the middle of words or leaving off the ends of the word. Eg..sleeping becomes sleeting. Even though he can make the p sound. Should I use the pyramid in the same way?

Hi Shaz. Sounds like you're spotting the pattern to what your son finds difficult. There is a big leap from say /p/ to using it in the middle of words. Yes, you could try the 'next step' on this pyramid with vowels either side, e.g. 'aaapaa' and 'eeeepeeee'.

Hi. My son is autistic. He started speaking many words meaningfully like Cow, Dog, etc. but when I ask him what's this he never answers. This is happening from 3 the last 3-4 months. Can you please tell us what should we do? We already don't listen to his gesture requests.

Hi! There's so much I could say on this topic, it needs its own video. But, for now, two things: 1) I always encourage adults to 'Give, Not Quiz'. If you know the answer to the question, you don't need to ask it. At this young age, a focus on modelling without expectation is the best strategy for long-term success and supporting your child. 2) Always respond! If you child is gesturing a request, acknowledge and respond to this with a modelled word. Don't hold back and expect them to answer a question. It's so cool that your son has started speaking more words meaningfully. Remember to still value the variety of other ways he is communicating too. More on all of this in my book, coming out this winter. :)
