It's SOOO refreshing to watch another professional groomer grooming an average pet (not show) dog. So many times I think "I wish my dogs would look that good when I'm done with them". In this case you did everything EXACTLY as I do them in my small town shop that sees far too many strip-down cases and not enough "fun" cases. Thank you for demonstrating an easy to care for clip that I routinely do that is geared perfectly for the owners I have who want something stylish yet easy to care for. Great job!
no. 1. you do not bite your hairdresser 2. you do not poop on the ground and 3. your hairdresser doesn't have to clean your behind 4. your hairdresser does not clean the inside of your ears. 5. the hairdresser doesn't have to *BRUSH* your teeth. 6. you don't claw your hairdresser. 7. you do not move when your hairdresser is doing your hair. 8. you do not whine like it's hot. 9. the hairdresser doesn't wash your bathing suit areas.
Awesome job. I used to bring my 2 girls to the groomer and it cost a lot each time. Now I do it myself. I invested in good clippers and I screwed them up their hair the first few times, but each time I get better. Thanks for the lesson.
This.was so wonderful to watch...ideal for me right now pre-grooming training...please do more styles! Loved the lady groomer and.very.easy to follow. A little more explanation of trimmers would also be helpful...thankyou and cheers! Ena
Thanks for the lesson! I normally take my pup to the groomer but I’m trying to learn to do it myself. This is a very informative video for newbies like myself.
I know this was shot in 2013 but I just have to comment. This is the best, "go to" video to watch when I groom my standard poodle. I always sent my boys to the groomer, but money is tight now and that is one place I can lower bills. It is a hard job and I know how hard groomers work. This groomer is matter of fact, and it is a great instructional if your doing things your self..
She is sooo pretty at the end! Love her sweet little face!! Good trim for a pet poodle but I personally love the continental :) Very diligent camera work btw.
What I love about this cut is that the dog looks great even when she comes in shaggy. I will definitely try this when my spoo gets older and outgrows the puppy cut. Thanks for the vid.
Incredible result. You're incredible and very impressive. We have a new standard poodle which is 6 months old now. He's a real rascal when it comes to baths and clipping. I wish he'd stand as still as Trixy, but he's all over the place and hates it making it nearly impossible to trim.
It’s time for obedience class so when you ask him so sit down stand stay he will and you will both have a better experience. The groomer as well will have a good grooming experience with your fur baby. He is at prime time for learning
Excellent video! I am going to groom my new Poodle and this has taught me so much! Please share what size of blades you use and more about the type of trimmers you use on the face .
The dog is not stressed at all. When you actually know what you are talking about, then you can comment. Every hold and stretch she had on the dog was to protect the dog and keep it safe and uninjured, which happens surprisingly seldom in the industry, given that we work with a moving target and razor sharp tools. This is a beautiful, clear instructional video. Learn something.
Heidi, you and Trixie made that session look so easy. When I try to groom at home, my dogs become like alligators that I have to wrestle with. I have been trying to do my boy, but i'm so afraid i will nick/cut his skin. I don't really care if he has bits and pieces here and there. He's old and has Cushings disease, so I just want him to be comfortable. Thanks for this in-depth video.
👍Absolutely Gorgeous ! Very Professional Job, Well Done! 👌Could be very useful if you list on description below on this video the blades number size you use on body and, paws and face please 🐩
No it isn't, you should not be doing half the things this woman does, especially the pinching of the skin as she does, it actually hurts the dog more than you would think. And for a pet dog you should always leave 1/2 an inch of fur, at least. Any shorter on a et dog and it will get sunburnt, carpet burns, grass stains, very cold when wet or at night even in warm climates, as well as badly affected by dirt, easy pickings for ticks, and the risk of ingrown hairs. Try a puppy cut, it is what most pet owners do. As a general rule you should never use the blade of the shaver on a dog directly, there should always be a attachment. Even if it takes longer, using small blunt scissors on a dog's face and paws is much better and safer than a shaver. The woman shown in this video is not a 'pro groomer.' Maybe she is someone who has groomed many dogs, but that does not make what she does the right way to do it.
She is not gentle at all, watching this back makes me sick. She should not work with dogs. No compassion at all. THIS is the way to making a dog dislike you. It should be your friend, enough of this "alpha' crap. You should be able to make your dog do something without using your hands, and if this woman has to result to pinching, there is something clearly wrong.
+A Pickle Behaviorist Are you kidding? Have you ever groomed a dog? She is not scruffing the dog to be dominant.. she is pulling the skin taut so the clippers will glide smoothly so as not to miss hair or not catch any skin. BTW I'm a former groomer and I know what I am talking about. Would you rather she not pull it taut and she either leaves chunks of hair unclipped or possibly the skin gets caught in the blade and cut?
Of course she pays for the service, and then complains about everything, and 10 to 1 has a spoiled, undisciplined child and dog. Just a theory though. Anyone that would rant about how poorly the dog is being treated in this video has a screw loose.
Trixie turned out beautiful. Although my hubby did not like it. My dad said when he was a kid that was his chore every month was to give the dog a Pom Pom cut…which he didn’t enjoy and said he would never have a poodle due to the high maintenance. I have 3 doodles!
Great tutorial video!!! I have a standard poodle, the same color as Trixie. I'm interested in maintence grooming at home. What kind of trimmer is this?
Nice tutorial. Do you have a recommendation for a trimmer? I have been using the clippers but my dog doesn't like it on his face so much and I thought I would try a trimmer.
How long does the Miami clip last? I have a toy poodle and his hair grows insanely fast like I can shave his face with a 50 blade and next week it'll be completely fluffy again like I never shaved it in the first place and the texture is like cotton he knots so easily I have to brush and comb 3-4 times a day and he'll still get knots and matted hair sometimes.
I am going to groom my dog myself after all these 13 years. She is not in good health, so a loooooonnnnnngggg groom session will be important. Wish me luck! She cannot take going to the groomer for 3 hours. My senior girl has special needs now, and I can't find a groomer to take the time with her. :(
Joan Wells I'm a dog groomer that specializes with senior clients. look for a groomer to do one on one with her groom her straight through. also a low maintenance trim would be easier on her. one length all over so it's quicker and she doesn't have to go as often. if you have never groomed a dog before I don't recommend starting on your senior dog. she needs a professional to finish her as quick as possible. also risk of nicks are much greater with seniors as they have thinner skin. please seek a professional
How long does it take before that blade is too hot? I got my miniature poodle back from a parlour and he had immense clipper burn on his very tender tummy skin. Here in South Africa we have to make them quite naked during summer especially on the high veld.
Do you wire brush hair before clipper or is it easier for clipper to get thru without fluffing after brushing. Or opposite do not brush fluff before clipping?
Depends on the condition of the coat. Clipper blades work best through clean, brushed coat, but if the coat is matted and dirty, it is not very nice to the dog to demat that stuff, so we would clipper before the bath and rough trim the damp coat that is left (usually legs, head and tail) before brushing the mats out of the still damp hair. (Leaving the coat damp loosens and lubricated the hair to a point. A leave-in conditioner sprayed into the coat helps with light mat removal as well.) We DO NOT CAUSE DOGS PAIN in the course of grooming. If it comes to that point, we will shave the animal down, let the coat grow back, and start over again from scratch. If you cannot get a comb through the coat, from the skin out to the ends, the hair is matted. Hope this answers some questions.
It works equally great on miniatures. I do it all the time in my grooming shop-you just have less leg to shave. Make sure to keep your proportions right!
Hi Delani. I'm a pro groomer in in AZ and have purchased from Ryan's Pet Supplies for years. You can order grooming supplies online at www.ryanspet.com/
Nice job, good video. What clippers are you using? I noticed you really didn't seem to check the temp of the blade. I'm assuming you must have clippers that don't heat up fast. Would be nice to find some that stay cool longer.
Some dogs if you do that they get all excited and start bouncing around and moving around the table. Rest assured im sure she got praise when she was all done!
It is really too bad that people that don't enjoy the breed have to get on here and make negative comments. What are you doing watching a 40 min poodle grooming video? You really must have NO life. Also, I am suspecting that these people are jealous because owning a nice poodle is expensive and they can't afford it!!
Lucinda, most of us poodle owners don't pay any attention to the negative people or their comments. We know what a wonderful dog we have, we don't need to have people affirm that.
It's SOOO refreshing to watch another professional groomer grooming an average pet (not show) dog. So many times I think "I wish my dogs would look that good when I'm done with them". and now we know why grooming costs as much as it does ..... thats a lot of work. Good job

And this is just part of it... You also have to give the dog a bath and trim its nails
Awesome job. I used to bring my 2 girls to the groomer and it cost a lot each time. Now I do it myself. I invested in good clippers and I screwed them up their hair the first few times, but each time I get better. Thanks for the lesson.
Can you please list the brand and model of the tools used please.
This.was so wonderful to watch...ideal for me right now pre-grooming training...please do more styles! Loved the lady groomer and.very.easy to follow.
A little more explanation of trimmers would also be helpful...thankyou and cheers! Ena
I love the Miami cut!! So cute and GREAT for hot weather or service dogs who still need to look professional but the owner can still get a fun cut!
Baylee, Chewy & Vader =) it's the cut I do on my sdit
I watch a lot of grooming videos and don’t hear groomers mention to check blade heat. I hold my clipper to my wrist to feel if it’s too hot.
If you go to certified pet grooming school, it’s very strongly stressed. These are just RUclips videos.
To prevent the blade from getting hot
u would better have to put some oil on it
And everything will b ok
Very helpful in finding the height to start the bracelets
Thanks for the lesson! I normally take my pup to the groomer but I’m trying to learn to do it myself. This is a very informative video for newbies like myself.

Also, I would love to know the brand of that cordless clipper. I know this is a old video but I would love that cordless.
@@ozmommi
It's a Wahl! It's a 5 in 1 adjustable, probably the Arco, but I can't quite read the model along the bottom of the clipper.
Love the Demo and love this cut! I always have my poodles cut like this. It works great for the heat in Central Texas.
Nicely done. Pup was not particularly fond of the cameras, and not wanting a trim that day. Confident handling. Thank you for the demo.
I like the talent of this woman.
Beautiful job on Trixie. I wish I could find a groomer here half as good as you. Thanks for sharing your experience.
She really makes this look so effortless and easy lol it took me 3 hours to do a damn mini in a Miami b/ c of the poms
What a gorgeous dog. A smart cut for a smart dog xx
Incredible result. You're incredible and very impressive. We have a new standard poodle which is 6 months old now. He's a real rascal when it comes to baths and clipping. I wish he'd stand as still as Trixy, but he's all over the place and hates it making it nearly impossible to trim.
The more and earlier in life you groom your dog, the better he will be. They do get used to it with time.
It’s time for obedience class so when you ask him so sit down stand stay he will and you will both have a better experience. The groomer as well will have a good grooming experience with your fur baby. He is at prime time for learning
Thank you. I'm impressed the dog doesn't need a leash to stay. Very good job!
Excellent video! I am going to groom my new Poodle and this has taught me so much! Please share what size of blades you use and more about the type of trimmers you use on the face .
She did.
Excellent grooming and explaining!! Thank you for the wonderful tips!!
Thanks for watching!
Such lovely trust between dog and groomer!
Not really, she is holding it's the skin of her throat to stop the dog from moving. Scruff or collar, fair enough, but never the throat.
+A Pickle Behaviorist yeah the dog does not look like a happy camper

What brand of clippers, trimmers, and scissor spray to you use??
Thank you. Picked up a few things from your scissor work on the ears. Always disappointed with my blending from the ear to the knot.
Thank you so much! I do my poodle myself to save money and this is so helpful ♥️ great cut for California summers
Heidi, you and Trixie made that session look so easy. When I try to groom at home, my dogs become like alligators that I have to wrestle with. The picture in my head of you wrestling them like alligators 😂😂❤️❤️
Get a grooming table! Such a game changer, my poodle went from a spinning gator to a good boy
That dog is SO WELL MANNERED!! My poodle is still learning how to be still for grooming, she HAS to have a collar holding her up.
Thank you for showing this video
Absolutely gorgeous work! Beautiful Trixie!
What brand of clipper and trimmer do you use? Thank you
👍Absolutely Gorgeous ! Very Professional Job, Well Done! 👌Could be very useful if you list on description below on this video the blades number size you use on body and, paws and face please 🐩
Thanks for this. We just got a Poodle puppy and this gives us an excellent guide to use as we learn how to groom her.

Very nice! I haven't wanted to use this clip on my dog, but you've made a believer out of me. Thanks so much.
aplauso para el perrito muy educado y tranquilo =) y la señora, que habilidad mis respetos !!
She stands so nicely. ❤️
can you show how to dry the poms to make them puffy?
Very nice video
This is such a cute, funky trim. Love it!

Really beautiful! Thank you for the lesson.
Wonderful video. Thank you. This will definitely guid me when I get my poodles..thanks for sharing
She's gorgeous and so sweet! What a great grooming model.
Could you show how to define ears from topknot. I have two standards and would like to know how to trim my self...
Thank you sooo much for sharing this information freely!!! We have a poodle that looks just like the beautiful one you're working on.
Very nice and the dog is so good.
what trimmers do you uses???? Thanks
Mar Van they went through fur like butter
Thank you for this demo., will try to trim my two standards.
What is that spray called that you use to help it stand up?
Love those trimmers. What brand are they?
This cut is brilliant. Does anyone know what spray she is using?
Thank you for posting this! I'm getting my first spoo and I would like to groom it myself and I favor the clown cut!
So did you use a 7 first and after bath you use a 7f on body
What is in the spray bottle please?
Great tutorial video!!! I have a standard poodle, the same color as Trixie. I'm interested in maintence grooming at home. What kind of trimmer is this?
Awesome job! Can't wait to practice with my poodle at home. Which comb is best to brush the poodle?
+Salvador Alvarado Greyhound combs work great on poodles
Excellent video and instruction - thank you.
Nice tutorial. Do you have a recommendation for a trimmer? I have been using the clippers but my dog doesn't like it on his face so much and I thought I would try a trimmer.
Did you use #10 on the face?
Thank you for sharing!
How often do You need to have the dog groomed to maintain this cut?
lovely! I like this clip with a 7f I cant stand it shorter

Chloe7 Seven it could also be because of the blade itself, some dogs have very sensitive skin and if you clip the hair short it'll cause razor burn.
Do you wire brush hair before clipper or is it easier for clipper to get thru without fluffing after brushing. Or opposite do not brush fluff before clipping?

yes thanx I have a teacup poodle, so clipper blade has to be very sharp and I find misting the hair helps blade cut the very fine hair.
Nice work and great tips
My Trixie is Famous ! 💜💜💜
I meant the cordless trimmer! Thank you.
What trimmer are you using..how do I thin out ears
Very Carefully
Just might have to try this clip on my 6 poodles. :) Thanks for the Demo. I think you did a great job.
Was the dog brushed out prior to filming?
Great tutorial! Thanks so much for sharing!
She's a good groomer, but someone fire that camera man. That dog is utterly gorgeous.
She is a gorgeous dog!
Very lovely video!
I am completely confused by blade numbers.
love the trims!!
i wonder if it works for minetures
It works equally great on miniatures. I do it all the time in my grooming shop-you just have less leg to shave. Make sure to keep your proportions right!
I dont like how short you made the font poms, they dont match the back ones.
What brand and model of clipper is that?
What kind of spray are you using?
Hi! Can I get some help? Where can I buy or order this kind of scissoring spray? Thank!
Hi Delani. I'm a pro groomer in in AZ and have purchased from Ryan's Pet Supplies for years. You can order grooming supplies online at www.ryanspet.com/
thanks a lot ;)
what clippers do you prefer
Qual lamina usou nas patas? e qual lamina usou no focinho?
Feet- 30 blade
Face- 30 blade
Gential area- 10 blade on trimmer
Body- 7f blade
What trimmers are recommended vs clippers?
what size blades is she using
Nice job, good video. What clippers are you using? I noticed you really didn't seem to check the temp of the blade. I'm assuming you must have clippers that don't heat up fast. Would be nice to find some that stay cool longer.
Narrow Is The Way how often do you change your drive and oil the. Kippers and the blades?
wonderful, thank you for interesting video
Thank you. I might try this.
Do you ever tell her she is doing a good job?
how to make dog clothes
You didn't hear her say good girl.
Some dogs if you do that they get all excited and start bouncing around and moving around the table. Rest assured im sure she got praise when she was all done!
algún día seré como tu!! lindo trabajo...
Lucinda Carpe just because people have a differing opinion doesn't mean they are jealous.
Lo ley
I really agree with you 💯 for some reason theres a lot of miserable people smdh 😒👎
mattiesful and those people like YOU that sounds so arrogant GEEZ CHILL TF OUT BE HUMBLE 🕯🙇📿
Please tell me what spray is it ?
Why don't you show the drying and brushing process as well?
I love poodles.. beautiful dogs..
how often should poodles with this trim visit the salon?
loomknitstudio every 6-9 weeks
Good job reminds me of show dog looks good I wouldn’t do it for a house dog
Long ears drag the ground and pick up ticks here in the northeast USA at least.
