This is my FAVORITE VERSION of _A Christmas Carol._ I was 17 in 1984; and watched it on TV. I loved every moment of it! It was so perfectly done!!! Everyone involved brought their BEST to it. I loved the way David played Bob Cratchet!!! He was so genuine! The scene of Christmas to come as he breaks down over the loss of Tim is so heartfelt!! (It reminds me of my father at my sister's funeral.) I never met David, but felt the loss of his passing. He was in so many excellent roles!!! His villians were terrifying! Often cruel. He made them believable. (Great movies need good villains to make them great!) I found this clip while looking for an interview with George C Scott about this very movie from 1984. It's become part of my Christmas traditions; to watch the dvd every Christmas Eve. Today is Christmas Day 2024. I'm watching it again. 40 years later, it's STILL my favorite version! Thanks to ALL who made it.
This is so wonderful!! I never get to hear Mr. Warner talk about A Christmas Carol! He was always my favorite Cratchit, and it was my favorite adaption of the story!
The crazy part about the 1984 version of A Christmas Carol is that David Warner could have been just as good in the role of Scrooge as Scott was. Warner is one of the best bad guy actors ever. Jack the Ripper in Time After Time, Heydrich in the Holocaust Miniseries, Evil in Time Bandits, Dillinger/Sark/Master Control Program in Tron. Warner would have been an awesome Scrooge.
He played the villain in the movie _The Island_ (77 or 78). He was terrifying with a glance!!!😅 He did Star Trek TNG where he played a Cardassian Interrogator when Picard was captured by them. In a word, Sinister! He was awesome! Great performances need great villains, and David made it happen. But I love him most as Bob Cratchet!😁
David Warner was/is one of my favorite actors. I've done A Christmas Carol 4 times over the last 15 years or so. Each time, I played Scrooge, but I always wanted Bob Cratchit or Marley's Ghost. I loved watching David Warner in all of his roles in Star Trek, especially his interpretation of Chancellor Gorkon.
David Warner - well known for playing numerous, memorable villains - gave us one of the most genuine, heart-warming portrayals of Bob Cratchit I've ever scene. Rest In Peace, David Warner...
It’s amusing they they initially asked him to play Marley’s Ghost, because Frank Finlay who ultimately played that part is a similar actor to Warner in some ways. Warner was wonderful as Cratchit. He says he and George C. Scott played Trivial Pursuit and all the Patton answers were wrong... does he mean Scott got the answers wrong, or the game itself did?
⚫ To this very day, though, I have seen it for countless decades. When I see the disease of aging, and it's ravaging of the physical form. During a relatively short time, and knowing it's NOT impossible to cure. As people are being fooled into believing it can't be. It's very difficult not to be a bit angry at the surrender, and refusal to try.⚫
Rest in peace Mr. Warner. You are one of my favorite character actors and this is my favorite version of this great story.
This was an amazing movie. Probably the best Christmas Carol adaptation.
Agreed 👊
Easily so.
I've met him. Lovely man. 1984 version is stunning!!!!!!
Filmed in my beautiful home town of Shrewsbury. I remember the filming very well. It's a marvelous film.
THIS WAS THE WORLDS BEST VERSION "EVER" FROM THIS ICONIC AND GENIUS VERSION OF CHRISTMAS CAROL......CHARLES DICKENS IS A GENIUS OF GENISES....

Best adaptation! Wish we could hear more from all of the actors.
The best Bob Cratchit! Good to see David play a good gu
Hearing that the role he was first offered was Marley, I thought, DUH! Then that he wanted to go against type-LUVIT!!!
I could see him as Marley: "I'd love to go up against you and see what you're made of, Scrooge. I'm going to put you on the game grid!"

How sweet. A trailer. Funny. Trivial pursuit.🙏✌🙌🌟🏅🛡🇺🇸blessings

Scrooge is lucky Cratchit didn’t send him to the game grid...LOL

Why are so many folk so unimaginative by over-using the word 'iconic' all the time?
Wow ... He should of played Marley's Ghost... 🧐
