- Scenario: From a living corpse whose sole goal was to avenge the dead, to a human gradually learning to live for what he believes in, Dimitri strives to become a better man. His first step of atonement: reclaiming the Kingdom from the clutches of Cornelia. Though filled with doubt about his worth to lead his nation after staining his hands red for many years, Byleth, the Blue Lions, and the townsfolk of Fhirdiad assure Dimitri that he is exactly what Faerghus needs. Together, they’ll take "The Long Road" to victory.

Personal notes: This took about three months to write HAHA. Lyrics-wise, I wanted to highlight the events of reclaiming Fhirdiad in Chapter 18 of Azure Moon since this is the first chapter when Dimitri decides to carve a different path from the bloody road of vengeance he once walked on. However, the path to recovery and atoning for one's sins don't just magically happen overnight. The change is gradual, so I made sure to reflect that by having Dimitri voice some of his doubts in the first half of the song.
My personal favorite lines were for Byleth when she sings: "Five long years ago/Your azure eyes once foretold/A passion full in blaze/Flames don't just burn, they light the way." According to Google, the word passion is a "strong and barely controllable emotion." Passion in Dimitri's case can be interpreted in two ways: his compassion for the dead and his compassion for the living. While it is true that Byleth sensed darkness lurking within Dimitri when they first met, Byleth also got to know Dimitri as a young man possessing genuine empathy for all kinds of people. Unfortunately, when the voices of Dimitri's deceased loved ones told him to avenge them, that empathy was so cruelly twisted into something that burned anybody who stood in Dimitri's way. However, "Flames don't just burn, they light the way." In other words, depending on how Dimitri chooses to act in accordance with his flames (emotions), he can either keep burning everything in his way (focus only on his compassion towards the dead) or light the way to restoration (honor the dead while also maintaining compassion towards the living). Thankfully, through Byleth's guidance, Rodrigue's death, and just the support of all the Blue Lions in general, Dimitri chose the restoration route!
Faerghast (who is the one I got this interpretation from and does a MUCH better job explaining than me) did an amazing documentary about this aspect of Dimitri's character, which I highly recommend you watch if you have an hour and a half to spare: • The Dimitri Documentar...
Anyway, that's just a small character analysis of Dimitri! He's a super complex character to write for, so I really tried my best to remain faithful to both his good and bad sides! This project is definitely making me miss FE3H's character writing since I'm currently playing FE Engage. While the gameplay of Engage is fantastic, the writing in terms of the story and characters leaves much to be desired. I may or may not just get back into Crimson Flower so that I can generate ideas for "Roar of Dominion." I can't say if that (or any other song for the musical) will be ready any time soon since I'm trying to avoid burning out from this project, but I will still be working on it in sporadic creative bursts!

I forgot that this played during when you fight Cornelia. But this is just a good job of showing how Dimitri is working to make amends. Hearing these songs very much makes me wish I was good at writing lyrics for songs as I want to make some for the golden deer.
Thank you, Mary! There's a song that I have in mind that I may include Claude and Hilda during the battle at Derdriu when the Blue Lions come to the Golden Deer's rescue. I'm still not 100% sure if that's going to be in the final version, but I really liked those two (as well as the rest of the Golden Deer house).

Am working on Golden Deer(my first route) right now after discovering the Calender Glitch which does WONDERS for my anxiety(and I don't mind being OP af lol) but this just....even without having played the route myself this evokes such EMOTION.

And I'm glad you felt the emotion in spite of never playing Azure Moon since it's the most emotional of the routes (well at least from my experience. I still need to play Crimson Flower!)

Holy moly this gave me so many chills! This was amazing and the lyrics are very powerful. And your singing is so emotional. I really enjoyed reading your analysis of some of the lyrics. Blue Lions was the first house I chose and this made me remember so many memories while playing this game. It makes me want to play 3 Houses again haha! I really loved the character writing in this game so much and Dmitri really is such a complex character. Wonderful job! :)

Blue Lions was also my first house, and since I first played the game during the pandemic, all the characters and their tight-knit bond gave me a small sliver of happiness in spite of the isolation irl. And yes, the character writing is phenomenal in Three Houses!!! Dimitri still remains as my favorite character of all time haha.

I love everything you wrote in your description, especially about how Dimitri can choose to act in accordance with his flames to either choose the burning or the restoration route. It's so accurate to his character, and I'm really glad you've taken care to show the different sides to him since he is such a complex character.

They capture his mindset so well, especially as he is trying to shift over towards a more compassionate path while still having his doubts about himself and what he has done. Amazing work as always. Dimitri is my favorite video game character of all time LOL, so it was an absolute must that I portray his character as accurate as possible haha.

He knows he's not perfect and that he's made a LOT of mistakes, but his redemption arc is so beautiful because it shows that it's never too late to turn a new leaf if you're willing to hold yourself accountable and put in the work!
(Yeah... Engage is lacking in the writing, but boy is it a lot of fun to play haha!!!)

I have a few originals that I've written a couple years ago, and it took a while before I felt satisfied with not only the lyrics but also the chords. I guess that's why I enjoy writing lyrics to a melody that has already been composed :)

Thank you! The spoken sections are, for the most part, actual lines from the game that are slightly altered to fit the timing of the music.
As always when I get lost on youtube I have to leave a comment when I see talent. This is exactly the case here, as a fan of fire emblem I was not very excited by the idea of listening to a song made from the soundtrack of the game. I was totally wrong, you sing very well and your voice blends perfectly with the soundtrack almost as if it had always been there. I rarely ask anyone from youtube for anything but really please keep up the good work, keep illuminating the songs with your voice which is so perfect for these themes that are so dear to me. If one thing can make me play this game that I loved so much again, it's artists like you.

You really have talent OMG this sound like a Disney song. Now I felt awful cheezing my first playthrough with Blue lions by warping Dimitri to Cornelia in just 2-3 rounds, I wasted a good redemption OST. This motivated me to replay Blue Lions again. @@iceangel2855 Having a huge backlog of games can feel super overwhelming, but it's also not that bad since I like to think of it as never running out of games to play haha. Just play at your own pace! Games are best enjoyed when you take your time with it (though I do understand the pain of not being able to play a game when it first releases).
As for your question, I love magic, so probably a mage of some sort!

I gotta say though, I also love the "flames light the way" line, but I don't think there's anything to say that you haven't already said in the description (and it's not like I'd be able to put it so well either way), so yeah
Side note, I've seen someone ask about Apex of The World in the comments, and you mentioned Roar of Dominion in the description, but is there any chance for Paths That Will Never Cross to get this kind of treatment as well? It's probably a weird case since it has to be more specific by design, but I'm sure you'd be able to make something great with that if you wanted to.
Thank you! Paths That Will Never Cross is a bit tricky because it’s quite short compared to fe3h’s other battle themes, but I gave it another listen, and I do hear a bit of a potential if I combine the rain and thunder variations together. Hmm… I’ll consider it 🤔

And thank you so much for your support!!! Lately, I've slowed down on piano to make sure I don't injure my hands again (I sustained carpal tunnel syndrome in both of my hands back in December 2021). I'm okay now though, but I've been a little hesitant to play piano these days, so reading your comment gives me some encouragement to keep playing. One piece of advice I'll give you is to always always ALWAYS warm up before playing! It'll keep your hands safe and healthy for more playing down the road :)
As for your questions, I'm not comfortable disclosing my age online for privacy reasons, but I've been playing for roughly... 11 years I think? But don't let the number fool you since my practice time has been inconsistent throughout the years! Just know that as long as you keep playing, you'll slowly but surely improve.
