I have lived in Gilbert for over twenty years and unfortunately all this growth has brought more traffic and changing what made Gilbert attractive in the first place. I moved here from a large city and liked Gilbert because of it's small town vibe. It was definitely not the weather because it gets very hot in the summer.
Yep I hear you. My first full time job out of high school was the First Interstate Bank (now Wells Fargo) at Gilbert and Guadalupe back in 1994. Gilbert was a completely different town back then and definitely still had that small town feel. But even with all the growth and new traffic, I think the town has done a great job with the community management, commercial/retail growth and focus on local business to keep it such a unique and special place to live.
Yeah this place is getting equivalent to Scottsdale and Phoenix not to mention it being beyond overpriced!!! Gilbert is not that great anymore! Farms are disappearing and too many apartments now 👎🏼
@@nonyabeez734 hey there I read your comment and I just wanted to let you know I see what your saying. I dont even believe that growth is inherently bad. Just the type of it that is happening being more upscale buildings here it attracts a more upscale type of thinking people. They dont know how to have spontaneous fun anymore also interpreting something different in a positive light like everyone is either brainwashed from having a job or some type of judgment now. Take me back to when we had to meet up to talk around here lol I know wishful dreaming magic.
Me a single guy on disability, but I can still walk and function on my own. How is the rent down there for a one bedroom apartment. Thanks for the video either way, looks like a great place to live.
Hey Kenny. Based on what I've heard, you are looking anywhere from about $900-$1400 for a one bedroom in Gilbert. Here is a link to a website that I use to help with pricing www.apartments.com/gilbert-az/ Thanks for the comment and appreciate you watching!
I want to be close to a variety of mountain bike trails. Gilbert is looking like a better option and is more established than QC. How would you compare the two?
Hi Ed thanks for reaching out. I've lived in both and there are a lot of positives between the two. As far as mountain bike trail access, it's probably a wash between the two. The biggest difference for most people is that QC is just further out from other parts of the Valley so you may have a longer commute whenever you want to go anywhere. Gilbert is also better known for it's entertainment districts (shopping/dining/etc) so if that is important to you, Gilbert would the better choice. QC used to be more affordable but I don't think home prices are that much different from the two anymore. But Gilbert is definitely busier and has more traffic. Happy to jump on a call with you if you need any other info.
@@LivinginPhoenixAZ Thanks for the helpful response. I'm doing research remotely on the area and already working with a realtor. If it doesn't work out, I'll keep you in mind.
Grew up here and so many changes have made this great little city resemble a palm spring California vibe. If you aren't a snob you won't feel welcomed. We use to have alot of down to earth people and events that were very organized and now you could live anywhere else and you won't be missing out 😒 Live right on Gilbert and Guadalupe crossroad.
Hey Aaron thanks for the comment. Totally understand your point of view. My first full time job out of High School was at the First Interstate Bank (now Wells Fargo) right at Gilbert and Guadalupe back in 1994. It was a completely different town back then and small enough where it was probably more of a tight knit community. With all the growth comes some positives and some negatives but I think that can be said about every city/town right now. Overall, the town still has a lot more positive qualities than negatives which is why it is such a popular place to live. And because of that, some of the charm and uniqueness has worn off. Hard to find those same small town vibes anywhere right now.
@@LivinginPhoenixAZ you're more older (experienced) I assume you lived here longer then me i myself is 23 of age but i grew up around here in my childhood like 15 years since birth and I remember it as more of an outside activity to do anything around here. People use to talk to each other and socialize and now if they aren't in there group avoid each other like the plague and it seems like it's all just normies now no melting pot over here anymore. I miss fazoloez when it was over here now its just a plain Carl's jr. Also people had bbqs and went swimming and honestly it's like one at a time at the pool and no ones hosting bbqs over here. Maybe people with there family's are but it use to be so much more community connected.
Yep you're not wrong. But I don't think that is a Gilbert problem, that is a societal issue in general due to too much social media and cell phone use on all of our behalf. That has definitely caused a huge disconnect for people all over. Honestly, I totally forgot about Fazoli's lol. I liked that place as well and forgot they shut down. But I just randomly googled it and sounds like they just announced they are coming back to Arizona so I guess there is some good news! But try not to get too consumed by the negative stuff and just keep doing everything you can on your end to be a positive role model for those around you. I'm sure a lot more people feel the same way than you know.
@@LivinginPhoenixAZ thank you I forgot how to spell that place "fazolis" lol and I didn't mean to label people as snobs but It's just stiff and there use to be alot of colorfull people out here. The whole area is done up nice though being neat and alot of restraunts down town honestly I would have preferred another strip mall or something instead of 16 restraunts but ok. I mean we lost Fiesta mall and even almost now superstition. I guess that is all of a byproduct of the internet and convince shopping.
I currently live in Central Phoenix in the area of Arcadia but have lived in every single city in the East Valley prior to (Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Queen Creek and Scottsdale). When it comes to the "safest" area, I'm not sure if any particular city really stands out above the rest? I definitely think the East Valley cities have plenty of positives but there are also a lot of great neighborhoods on the West Side in cities like Goodyear, Surprise, Peoria and Glendale. I guess it really just depends on your definition of "safe"? No place is perfect and all of them have some issues when it comes to crime but overall, it's hard for me to rank them in that category. I'm happy to go over in more detail with you if it's helpful? Let me know.
@@LivinginPhoenixAZ appreciate the response. Wife and I live in a suburb of Portland currently. Very safe neighborhood compared to NE Portland for instance. Just want to start our search looking at the nicest and safest areas. I understand all areas have crime but I am more concerned with violent crime, gangs, etc.
Gotcha that makes sense. Thankfully, I don't think we have the same issues here in Phoenix that I've heard about around Portland when it comes to riots/gangs/etc? If we do, I'm oblivious to it lol. Our homeless issue is definitely becoming a bigger challenge but violent crime tends be more sporadic and probably tends to be focused in certain pockets around the city of Phoenix and older parts of the West Valley. For the most part, all the cities I listed in the above comments have safe neighborhoods to consider so at that point, I just try to figure out what other factors might be involved when you are searching around.
