As an American kid, I can say that hearing this makes me really sad that a lot of kids don't really get to experience the magic of Christmas. One thing I wouldn't mind doing at least once is being able to have a beach day on Christmas bc where my family and I live, it doesn't really snow a lot. It just gets miserably cold and my younger sister is always the first person to get sick (which just happened recently) BUT THAT WON'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT I'M WEARING SHORTS AND A HOODIE IN THE MIDDLE OF DECEMBER😆🤪
I dont celebrate Christmas, but 2 eids instead.
I live in Zambia it’s 58 years old but even when it was called North Rhodesia it has never ever snowed here.😢
Wait
Where do u live?
I live in HK
AND I DO THE SAME
@@elmo1523I celebrate Eid as well but Eid is soo boring 😣
@@LiquidCat-z3q I live in the USA. I was born in the USA. That's why I said I'm an American child
I can listen to Wengie talk about her life stories all day long.
Love from a fellow creator ❤
Don’t we all love a daily dose of watching Wengie?❤️
I make vidz 🥺💜
No not all some of us unsubscribe
Daily??
Does she post daily??
she doesnt post daily but we love watching her
this video was really comforting! going up with parents who each have a different religious belief we never celebrated Christmas because mother folows the russian orthodox faith and for her Christmas falls on January 7th and by then everyone is back to work so it's not the same. Also, because she's a very religious person Christmas was a time for prayer for her. Father being muslim doesn't celebrate it so even though he always made sure to bring me presents (because santa) we never really had that big family gathering. As an adult I like Christmas for its comercial purpose: nicxe food, decorations and presents.
A pretty common religious combination. So if u don't mind, r u a Muslim or a Christian?
me too, I'm also a Muslim
@@ghozyhibrizy7150 the person didn't say that they were muslim
My little sister’s birthday is on Christmas eve. People are constantly giving her one gift for both!
Can we just appreciate how creative and talented Wengie is 💜
Aww.... I would've gotten you a Christmas present 🎁 👍🏽😎❤️ @Wengie❤️😘💕💕
Really love you opening up to us more this really is your era!!
Some people don't celebrate holidays or celebrate differently but also, your christmas songs are sooo amazing
i just watched the this christmas mv AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ITTTT thank you for releasing it wengie!! back to watching this video now
My parents are immigrants too. They both are Nigerian but my siblings and I were born and raised in the States. I never had a "traditional" Christmas until I was 11 or 12. I also never got to believe in Santa because there were no presents or leaving milk and cookies out or anything like that. We were kinda poor back then so I felt like wanting anything for Christmas was greedy. I have 5 siblings (used to be 4 but my youngest brother came along ☺) and when I was younger, my mom wasn't even working so having food on the table and a roof over our heads was our gift. I know that my parents did their best to make sure we had a nice childhood. I say this as if I'm super old but I'm 18 and 3 of my siblings are under 15. Now, my mom is the biggest Christmas fan and loves decorating and gift-giving more than anyone else in our family😄
Wengie, I live in South Africa and we're also in the southern hemisphere so we also in summer and it's Christmas as well but I love summer and in my part of the country, even in winter we don't get snow, because we live in the coastal parts of South Africa.
I relate to this so much because I am also from China.☺️
Can anybody else agree to make this a animated story ❤😂
I totally get the birthday one. As a matter of fact I relate pretty much with the whole story. Except my parents did not move to any country.
The new song is a bop!!💜💜
Today is my birthday wengie 💗 ( 11 December ) could you wish me a happy birthday
Btw loved your new song ❤️
Love you so much ❤️
SHE MADE A NEW CHRISTMAS SONG!
OH GOSH! I have similar Christmas experience with my parents, who are first-generation immigrants from China. No Christmas for me, and I had red pocket money $10-20 Canadian dollars for Chinese new year 🤣and still don't have Christmas gift as a grown-up now
Singaporean Chinese family here, not that traditional but still non-christian, the only thing we do is see Christmas lights at the big malls. I converted to Christianity few years back, now I have a job, steady income and I can make my own choices, I'm choosing to celebrate it with my family. I'm buying presents and I might have a mini celebration as of now.
this is such a comforting video for me im so glad u made this! as a person that was born in a third world country that had to move to a first world country i had the same thing going on and still do :,) im happy to see people who relate
YAY WENGIE IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!
My family doesn't do the Bday/Xmas combo.
My Parents were Both December babies, & my youngest on Jan 7th. So I try as hard as possible to be very mindful of what I get her!
girl same I had all these problems
Love you wengie
Merry Christmas
This Christmas is gonna be the Bomb!!!!
Cuz your song is so catchy. Love it.
I am gonna replay it everyday this month. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
As a chinesse from a buddhist family but has a cousin of a christian family, I relate to this so much.. Growing up I would feel so jealous of my cousin spending christmas like all the youtubers and influencers I would watch. Having a massive christmas tree in the middle of the living room, opening presents on christmas morning, making sugar cookies and all that. I remember crying for 3 consecutive christmas because I felt like a miss fit and felt sorry for myself. But as I grow older I started to care less about cristmas and now I don't even mind not spending christmas "traditionally" anymore
I really like this video because I've never celebrated Christmas myself and it's because I'm a Hindu and Hindus don't celebrate Christmas but I always love seeing the stars being put at some Crishtine houses or seeing trees at the store
Hi Wengie I’m so glad you’re
Back and you are not depressed anymore and I hope that you never get depressed again❤
HI WENGIE!! SORRY FOR YOUR PROBLEMS BUT BTW I LOVE YOUR NEW SONGG!!
Mine is kinda similar I'm not Chinese but I live in a country where people don't really celebrate stuff from different religions, tho now a lot of people do celebrate when I was like really young this didn't wasn't the case but even tho I used to get sad by seeing how I can't have a Christmas tree or anything, what made me happy was that my grandfather always used to somehow sneak candy to me and my sister as well my family wasn't against it but we still didn't celebrate either way but they definitely didn't like us eating a whole lot of candy 😅. I am shocked I relate so much to you, and I probably don't really make sense rn but yea there's a whole lot to it 😆 Fun fact I have never had a Christmas tree in my whole life, and till this day
This felt like sitting down with a friend and having a chat. I love you sm Wen
13.6M Wengiecorns are still here to support you!!
I love your story tellings!
As a child , Christmas always made me excited, simply because of the family get togethers and exchanging of presents. It's just a wholesome time overall.
As an adult, I always buy at least 2 gifts for all of my friends/family, I feel like I get more joy out of making someone's day on Christmas, even if I don't get a present.
I'm not very religious, but Christmas to me means having a wholesome time with those around you.
You know the true meaning of Christmas. Spending time with friends and family.
For me having Christmas in Australia was so normal for me that I got weirded out seeing Americans builds snowmen and stuff, I thought they had Christmas in the middle of the year for some reason. Also I have never had eggnog and only discovered it like the other year.
I wasn't allowed to celebrate Christmas or birthdays or any holidays growing up. You definitely feel different from all the other kids.
I know the feeling of Christmas and birthday presents combined… I’m a December baby! One week after Xmas 😅
HEYYY
Yes Wengie, we as well, actually my parents weren't very rich before so I would never get everything I wanted, only if it was cheap, they would buy it for me, but now I'm older soo I collect my own spending money and I use it to buy my own things. I was also like never get much presents and stuff but we had a Christmas tree though. Wengie,I know wat it feels to not really feeling a Christmas spirits.
A new video and a Christmas song?? 👏👏👏👏
I am a January baby also. My birthday is 1/13. So sometimes when I was younger my gifts got mixed into both into Christmas + Birthday also. 🎂
GLAD THAT WENGIE IS OPENING UP!
Im not in Australia but I also live in the southern Hemisphere and we have to get cooked during Christmas while you guys are freezing I would rather freeze than boil
I really like this new style of videos that you are making!
Sister same I've always been the weird one 😭
I’m a January baby (Jan 14 ) it’s never happened to me but I’m 9 so maybe it’ll happen in the future.
wengie is so honest and so brave to talk and share all these things with us
In India we don't celebrate Christmas so don't know how it will be...we love u wieng 💜💜
Why have you channel turned into listing pity lol
In Lithuania, we have this tradition of having 12 meals and no meat on Christmas Eve, there aren't that many Christmas traditions tho, and I really want to have one, you know, celebrate in my own way
I am from India and we don't really celebrate Christmas but in our school and my appartment we do secret santa so i am grateful that I get and get to give two presents.
It's really nice to know other countries' culture
Btw love from India 🧡🧡🧡
This is so relatable. I’ve never celebrated Christmas and gotten Christmas presents my whole life cuz my family doesn’t celebrate it :(
What is happening what should I watch...
THIS VIDEO OR THE MUSIC VIDEO
WENGIE IS SO HONEST!
Im so sorry that happened. I don't agree with parents combining the gifts. Why not buy a 25 dollar gift for Christmas and then another 25 dollar gift for ur birthday
Hi Wengie, I love your videos and I have been watching you since I was 7 or something but I am so glad you didn’t quit music. And I’m soo sorry about you and max breaking up I’m so sad about that and I hope you two are still friends but anyway I love your videos and I hope your doing well have a lovely Christmas 👋😸
Wengie, what type of cultural differences do you find between the US and Australia? Is anything particularly difficult to adjust to?
@OfficiaI_shmekesssgtfo bot
I JUST WATCHED YOUR MUSIC VIDEO THIS CHRISTMAS AND I LOVE IT SO MUCHJHDHSHSHSHEBHR
as an asian kid i am very grateful that i celebrate christmas but my aunt is all out on christmas, she uses glass ornaments even though there is a 2 year old, a 5 year old and a few 8 to 10 year olds and like a 13 year old😅
my family is from Bangladesh and the only holiday is Eid and Eid is basically going to a place called masjid and praying there meeting family stuff like that so my family's culture also does not do Christmas
I remember thinking you actually had a twin and when I came back to the channel (right now) I was like Where’s her twin?
Hey my favourite yt that taught me everything and who I will always love and always listen to u
I never get gifts for my birthday and I never really cared but I kinda understand cause my birthday is on January 3rd
I am a Australian living in China and I am definitely missing Christmas, but I did buy a tree and I am in China cause my husband is Chinese
Please could u turn these stories into a series? Talking abt teenage, kids years..
what if you are a december baby???
Unlike what we learn as kids, Christmas has nothing to do with the Christ, it’s wrongfully called in English.
The traditions, the tree, the log, the mistletoe, the crown etc… are taken from the traditions and symbols of Yule, the winter solstice. So Basically Christmas is just a bootleg Yule.
The only Christian part is the Midnight Mass (which shouldn’t be even there) and the gifts, and again, they’re supposed to be given the 6th of January like in Spain, this is probably why for you they were fused.
Since you lived in the southern hemisphere, for you the 21th of December was Litha, the summer solstice, and Yule was the 21st of June, but still.
And Santa is inspired by st Nicholas, who actually existed. Back in the days they were given oranges because not only they were expensive, but they are also one of the symbols of Yule.
I’m happy I get to learn the truth by myself, but I wished we were told theses about the holidays celebration right at the beginning, instead of taking us for idiots.
If I have kids one day I would tell them the truth and the origins of theses celebrations, teach them about the seasonal ones and actually celebrate them, like I do now.
Me living in Hong Kong and having a birthday on 27th dec:
Birthday-Christmas presents are the worst! I mean, sometimes, it's a nice gift, but it isn't fair. My birthday is the 21st of December. *3 days before Christmas!* My birthday was apparently supposed to be the 24th and I'm sure if that happened, my Birthday-Christmas situation would've been so much worse.
me i also dont have christmas trees in Christmas but i tbh don't care about having no decorations at least it was fun because its just decorations for me its nothing special for me i barely have presents too with all of the christmas times in my life i only have a present once but i also don't care i don't cry about having no presents there's so many days i can get a new thing in my life experience having none of these in Christmas but i never felt sad about it since i don't care about it just family I'm already happy and i dont want my parents to buy things i want too
Hi Wengie!
Sincce I live in post-Soviet country we have to celebrate New Year as well (it's like a big deal, we care about it way more than Christmas). But my birthday is at the end of December so it usually was like 1-for-3 gift(((( I was lucky cause since the Soviet time we have this tradition in our country when parents at work (doesn't matter what job you have) usually receive sweet gifts for their kids (smth like a small bag full of candies and veeeery tiny chocolate bars). So it kinda helped 😊
But growing up I realised that I prefer that way of celebrating even more))) ...and I can always buy myself a candy gift at shop😆
Also sorry for mistakes in the comment🥲
I've never had a proper or Norma Christmas and it's pretty normal 🤡🤡
My mom was also Chinese and never celebrated Christmas
HIIIII I used to always watch you ! this my first time seeing you in a year! Hope your doing okay :)
I believe that the Chinese Communist Party doesn't allow the celebration of said holiday, aside from it just not being a part of Chinese culture
Thank you for sharing your story, it makes me appreciate what I have more 💜 however we don't really go all out, some years we don't even put up our tree or do anything on the day.
Apaka channel bahut achcha hai
I didn't think about that in regards to January babies, only like the late December babies haha, they have an even higher chance of combined gifts 🎁 😏😂✌🏽✌🏽
GIRLY SLAYS WITH HER MUSIC
😍
Growing up ive never had crazy expensive stuff for Xmas. Probably the most expensive thing I own is my ipad which my school payed for since I needed one for gcse.
Growing up in UK I was always told to go to fruit bowl since we never rly had enough money for all these fancy puddings my friends at primary had. I lived in a poor ish area but went to school in a posh area and all these kids had the latest stuff like a phone at 8 years old but I didn't have 1 till 13 cos its so expensive. And I remember when fidget spinners and jojo bows came into craze and rly wanting a proper fidget spinner but I got a 50p one from nicer which made me so happy but got bullied.for it :/
I love the new song will there be anymore wraya song’s next year
Also early happy birthday🎂!
My little brother has a December birthday, so he gets his presents at separate times sometimes, but there were a few years we were short on money so he got his birthday and Christmas presents as one present
Same! i have a december birthday (27th) so I get a combined present every year, cuz when they go to my house for a party, they are always like "I already got you a present for Christmas, so I don't need to get you another one"
I don't think they would say that is my birthday was in August of something
I know I sound spoiled
I love your song This Christmas and some people celebrate holidays differently or don't celebrate it at all (it doesn't snow where I live so there isn't really much of a Christmas vibe) and it's ok also my friend's birthday is January 2nd and she only gets one present as well. I love you Wengie
u should make a podcast!! it'll be very nice to hear more stuff about your life and stories
Don't say that the video is too long say what you need to because we all love you❤ oh I replayed the song15 times
I used to be a jehovahs witness, and for my whole life i couldnt celebrate any holidays. Not even my birthday. I understand how you feel not being able to celebrate christmas. I couldnt even give anyone gifts for christmas, and for birthdays. at school, i couldnt sing happy birthday, and so.e people hated me for that. i was raised to be afraid of the world as it is. A couple yeara ago, me and my immediate family have broken free from that! Life has been so much better, and i can give people gifts for christmas! I can recieve gifts! I can celebrate my birthday, and other peoples birthdays! It was only recently until age 16 that my family finally celebrated christmas! Now we have a big tree and decorations!! Im so thankful for breaking free from that!
I'm so happy to hear you broke free! I broke free in 2000, with just my parents. My sister and most of my family are still in, have not seen them since....so sad.
But I go all out for Christmas. My tree, village, outdoor decor all of it. It's so nice to be raising my daughter and a normal kid, and getting to see her grow up and celebrate her birthday and her the holidays has been magical for us.
I love your new song so much
FIRST HI WENGIE IVE ALWAYS LOVED U SINCE I WAS LIKE 7 JSKSJSKKSKSJS ILYSM
Amazing song I will listen
It could be worse. This will not be something you can relate to. Some people have not had a real christmas because there is so much drama and often violence and a lot of shouting. So for somebody like that imagine watching this. You had a privileged life that you think was hard. This is why creators now look far too privileged.
Oh I'm sorry! Btw I loved your new song!!!!
I'm sorry to hear that Wengie, love your song btw!
Well I was born 5 day after Christmas but I would get a gift for Christmas and my birthday

Im from czech republic and we celebrate it a bit differently too but not much we just eat different things and we open gifts on 24th evening and also we have different traditions
We moved to england btw and i live there now
But we still celebrate Christmas the czech way
I maybe had a few proper christmas celebrations, but never quite like what you see in movies. The thing is we also kinda lose the traditions of celebration chinese holidays. We somewhat celebrate but it's definitely not the same.
so sorry about your story, celebrate it this year if you want😄
My parents won't allow me to sorry-i'm 15
