Hey there do you think there’s anyway to retrieve footage that was there but has been lost?
@@resourcefulriles9809 The footage is stored on the cloud for two weeks as new recordings come in the oldest ones gets deleted, unfortunately if the video is deleted it can not be recover. For future reference you have two options: 1) Download the desired clip on your phone before it gets deleted and is yours forever 2) Get a smart drive that records 24/7 for up to 30 days and this gives you additional time to look back. Hope it helped. 😁
So this is the noise I’ve been hearing for the last five months when ever I walk past my neighbors house
same bruh, it scared tf outta me the first time, I heard it but I couldn't see the camera cuz it was night but I heard it say it was recording while I was walking my dog 😭😭

The Vivint cameras are wireless but the new cams run power over Ethernet which means your getting a much stronger wireless connection. (Think Wireless connection to the panel with the strength of a wired connection) The new life time warranty guarantees they will come out and fix any issues (but if they can keep them from going down by improving the technology, everyone wins.
Lastly, these are one of the ONLY wireless cameras that have a satellite back up and WILL record onto your panel if the internet goes down.
This benefit puts these cameras in a class of their own and cannot be understated. Also means ring, nest and simply safe will have to remain in 2nd 3rd and 4th place.

As an Vivint owner for one year now, HERE IS THE REAL REVIEW. First, everything he says about the system is true, BUT here are the SERIOUS disadvantages and WHY I AM MOVING WITHOUT MY VIVINT SYSTEM that I paid in full for. Second, the HD and 4K cameras are VERY mediocre quality, they are B&W at night, not color, unless your yard is spot flooded with 5500k lighting. The cameras use IR technology which causes license plates to glow so forget about for any reason. Third, the motion detection is so easy to defeat, all you have to do is walk fast or run and THEY WON'T DETECT ANYTHING. Fourth, at 1:30 of this video the camera shown is HORRIBLE. It has an extremely poor frame rate and even with STUDIO lighting the color is poor. I believe it uses pixel shifting to create an upscale 1080 rez from a 480 chip. It is located with line sight less that 20 feet from the Hub. The pic that Vivint shows regarding this cam on their ad is pure false advertising. Fifth, the DOORBELL IS slow and often does not work fast enough. It is actually the best camera but it is TOO SLOW to react. I bought this system following sponsored reviews like this one. I live with 400 feet of a major cell tower, yet it says my WI-FI connection is weak. Finally, I called Vivint to complain and their customer service said everything is working fine. I think they STINK!
These are great cameras I have 4 of them but recently Vivint software engineers removed the privacy mode which allows you to turn camera off for short periods from mobile App. Bit of a game changer for rental properties. May violate some privacy laws depending on rental use of the property.

Do the notifications from the system make the whislte sound on your phone also? I think that would be neat
No. But when someone rings the doorbell, whatever chime you set for the doorbell, rings out through your phone and every camera you have connected to it. Plus each outdoor camera has the ability to act as an alarm extender for when the alarm is going off
I just ordered this yesterday. I asked the rep if they are hard wired or only wifi. She said it’s only wifi but after watching your video they clearly aren’t . I want to install 3 cameras under the eaves so how hard is it going to be for them to run the hard wires into the house ?

I have a camera that they installed when I 1st got vivint. It apparently is out of date and can no longer communicate with my panel after some software update. Guess what? Now they're making me try to buy a new one and replace it. Doesn't sound right

I have a couple of camera hookups when my house was remodeled 10 years ago that are old composite and dc plug to a dvr. Is there a good way to convert this dc plug to a usb to swap these spots out for WiFi cameras?
Hmm good question but, I’m not sure if there is or not.
If they are vivint and you are the owner of those cameras, then you have a warranty to replace them. :) if not then you have to by a new set.
Quick question can you crop and edit videos ?
Once the clip is saved to my phone i can crop an edit from the phone software. You can't crop an edit within the Vivint app.
How far away can the bridge be to transmit to the base station ?

Worked for Vivint as a troubleshooter for 3 years. At first I was very impressed. Over time however, and as someone who went to school for I.T. And understands how the wireless technology is designed. I have very low confidence in the company. Don’t know if they still require a 3-5 year contract, but they did then. And even though their cameras appear to have improved. I don’t trust wireless tech that runs on the same frequency as 95% of most wireless tech in the world. I will never have a Vivint system. I will do simply safe or something else that doesn’t require a contract and allows month-to-month.
Just like with SimpliSafe, if you pay for all your equipment up front, there is no long term contract with Vivint.

A hacker bought a Vivint system so he could hack it and costomize it how he pleased. Couldn't do it and returned his non hackable system.
So yeah state free... You and your IT degree opted in for the cheapest most easily hackable system.
How does it compare against Ring?-Ring phones you immediately and you can the physically talk to the intruder...does Vivint have the same features?-and price comparison?
Go with Ring. I worked for this company for 3 years. Tech looks great and sometimes works great. But in the end run, go with Ring or simply safe. Much better.

The answer to your question wimpie is you can talk through the cameras yes, ring flood light is $250, it’s just a wifi camera, outdoor pro is $400 POE camera, which he explained in the video. Vivint has more features than ring. And simplisafe can be shut off with a radio transmitter interceptor bought off Amazon for $2.50 someone I know switched from simplisafe to vivint because they got robbed by someone who intercepted their wifi with one of the transmitters.

I currently just installed an ADT smart system, I am honest thinking of switching as i have been having lots of issues from day one. My first issue is all recorded clips notify me after 2-3 min time frame, which is pointless as a lot can happen during that time. Does Vivint recording clips send you notifications asap? My second question is that every time i have a power outage even if it’s for a second, cameras work but they stop recording until i unplug or plug them back in. Again, pointless as if that happens at night while i am asleep or when i am not home, nothing will get recorded. Any vivint customers have similar issue or this this just adt? Thank you!
I get notifications ASAP everytime with my system. Plus with the smart drive you get 30 days of dvr full time video recording which adt doesn’t even offer. The cameras are the best in the alarm industry.

Only you have access to your footage. No one else can see your videos unless you give them access.
can I use my echo shows for video feed?
Unfortunately you can not.
Would of been nice if u would have played all the different tones while u were there.. otherwise good review.
If you download the app there's a demo mode you can play around with. I'm pretty sure you can play with the settings too
The red ring light on one of my camera is always on all day everyday. That’s not normal because my other cameras don’t do that. What do I need to do?
Check out the "Tone" under the Deter Settings of the camera. I see an option for Light Only, maybe turn select a different setting and then go back to the one you had. That might help refresh that light always being on.
I like what I see except the way they run the wires inside I think is looks bad
Most times the wire is ran in the wall like the panel, however hard to go cross stud inside a wall. I also, would have removed the baseboard and ran the wires behind it then put the wires that went vertical inside the wall

That’s the idea. You HAVE to buy and pay them monthly for the smart drive. It used to be called the space monkey. As they bought it from someone else. But they’ve since rebranded it.

We encountered a Vivant salesman at a home show. He signed us up for a security system. But he fudged on the contract. I tried three times to get him to write the contract as we discussed it at the homeshow but he was too greedy and kept "making mistakes" that would have cost us a fortune. Then I went online and checked Vivant's reputation and found a vast array of complaints about the company. People were receiving used equipment, equipment that didn't work, support that didn't support, etc. People were angry they had the equipment for six months and it never worked and they could not send it back or get any help and the company would not stop charging them the monthly fee. Someone indicated the company had changed the name of the company to hide their history. So we cancelled and never got a system.
I'm sure they have some shady sales people. So I won't challenge you there, but a lot of these companies have bad apples. Solar, security systems, etc.
As far as the system, remember most times when you go online looking for bad reviews, you're going to find bad reviews lol. EVERY company has them. It's a nature of the beast. Most people only post negative things, rarely do people go out of their way to post positive reviews if they're just content.
As far as the name change; that's 100% false. Vivint went through a lot of changes, from originally being a pest control company, to just doing security, to being bought by another company. But as far as "changing their name to hide", that's a false claim.
Oh and I'm just a realtor that have worked with them (as well as other security companies). I personally prefer Ring for the cost, but Vivint does have a good system.

@@insertnamehere9154 don’t know what you decided to go with, but the cancellation issue is if you do the contract, if you decide to finance the equipment or pay the equipment up front there is no contract with vivint. Yes the equipment is pricy, however, there isn’t a commitment, once you pay the equipment off you are month to month. You’d just need the confirmation code from citizens bank or Fortiva to show Vivint you paid off the equipment. It’s the same as financing a car, or a phone. USnews 360 review on Vivint has them ranked as #1 in all categories.

Been having vivit for right at 5 years the technology is extremely impressive however their app is TRASH!! the videos are not as clear as they should be and and the lagging in the videos are just 100% uncalled for the quality of their equipment. My neighbor has a cheap camera system from Best Buy and his videos NEVER! lag.
None of these peoples faces were seen neither were their hands they could’ve easily took what they wanted and left
