- Johannes Brahms - Hungarian Dance No. 6
The Hungarian Dances (German: Ungarische Tänze) by Johannes Brahms (WoO 1), are a set of 21 lively dance tunes based mostly on Hungarian themes. Only numbers 11, 14 and 16 are entirely original compositions. They vary from about a minute to four minutes in length, and are among Brahms' most popular works.
Each dance has been arranged for a wide variety of instruments and ensembles. Brahms originally wrote the version for piano four-hands and later arranged the first 10 dances for solo piano. He wrote orchestral arrangements for No. 1, No. 3 and No. 10. Other composers, including Antonín Dvořák, orchestrated the other dances. The most famous Hungarian Dance is No. 5 in F♯ minor (G minor in the orchestral version).

My happy tune 🌈💗 thankyou for blessing my hear and ears with such art. Love from laura born 1984.. Many years after you Sir and still enjoying this beautiful music xxx
❤
The inspiration for this composition came from a trip Brahms took where he encountered gypsies, which explains the sudden speeding up, slowing down and abrupt stops in the piece.
Perfect introduction to the joys of classical music! !Fantastic!
I am in a small youth orchestra. The small orchestra combined with a youth symphony to play both Hungarian dance 5 and 6. It was a fun and hard to play, to bad that was 2018. I want to experience playing it again.
I've been looking for this one for long! Also I came here from an episode called "Pigs in a Polka" cx
^^ You're not the only one. I'm also playing this piece for All-State this year. It's fantastic.
it's lovely, thanks so much.
Great work . Keep it up!

Oh God... another BRAHMMY!
I just wanna ask one thing… where did Brahms write that tempo fluctuation into the minor part (ritartando or tempo)?
Yea he IS GOOOOOOOD!!! =)
But I really hope you don't get lynched for that comment...
Those whiny kids happen to be college students at my dorm during dead week and residential courtesy hours.

Hi from 2023
nice music but kind of disappointed that I don't hear a piano part.
me too :)
Not exactly the Brahms orchestration, however a delightful recording nonetheless.
in a sense, yes. gypsy music is very erratic, like i said.
I give thumbs down for not crediting the performers in this recording.

Wow...this is a first for RUclips, I think!
I just read 22 comments and NO ONE felt it necessary to throw the F-bomb even once! I guess the crowd that can't talk without liberal use of that disgusting word don't care for great music.
Whatever the reason, hallelujah. Let's keep the ball rolling and see how far we can go before we have someone with a vocabulary of 8 words show up.
tigerlilly66 I don't know which circles of youtube you normally circulate in.
Those whining kids happen to be my parents.
LOL. You're awful xD
