Routa Balkanika 2017 - Ep 5 - SLOVENIA : Triglav National Park & Vršič Pass

- We started an epic journey through the Balkans this summer. Here is Part 5 where we make our way through Slovenia. For me (Lauren), it was my favourite country out of all of them. Endless winding roads & mountain passes, always a river following us, & the endless beauty of the Triglav mountains & the Vrsic Pass. As a whole, the country was extraordinarily beautiful & I would easily go back again & again & again.
We will be releasing a new episode/country every week.... stay tuned!
Still to come: Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Serbia, Skopje & Albania

SLOVENIJA ❤️🇸🇮👍👏
Nice series!! Guess I'm gonna have to put Slovenia on my BMW trip list!!
+Bryan Edmonds you won't regret it! Seriously, the roads are so much fun to ride & the country is pristine & beautiful

Wonderfull again. Toooo short ;-) Looking forward to the next one....
Well done ! Another great video! Loved Slovenia and Triglav ! I'm waiting for the other parts of your trip!!
+North Explorer it's a fantastic country isn't it!!! I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Thanks again, great stuff again!!!!
Thanks mate :)
Nice!! Next time you're in Slovenia, you should definitely go up the Mangart road... it goes up to 2055 meters.
We were told about that road by some riders we met in a Hungarian gas station. It sounded exceptionally magnificent, but we didn't have enough time to deviate from our route & still make it home in time.
It is certainly on the list though for our next visit, & honestly, I can't wait to get back to Slovenia!
- Lauren-Nicole
I'm loving this series guy's , thank you. I know what you mean about the difference in country's just crossing a boarder on the same road and suddenly it's completely different, I always think that is strange when people live so close to each other.
+Plopracer I never get tired of seeing the plethora of differences no matter how big or small. It really does amaze me every time. I think that's the biggest joy of travelling, at least for me.
Very nice video about my beautyfull country sLOVEnia...Thank you for making and sharing your videos..Next time when you are in Slovenia we can ride together😀... best regards from Slovenia..
It is by far my favourite country I’ve visited so far. Unbelievably beautiful & so much to offer. I would happily visit it again. Maybe Panagiotis & I will return next summer, & if so we’d love to join you for an excursion. Find us on Facebook, we have a page there & we update it with our travel plans when we have them, so you’ll know if we’re headed your way.
Take care & safe rides, mate

No way!! There is my house in the video 😂😂😂
How funny! Now I’m curious which one 👀
Amazing trips, amazing videos, you are making us proud. I got a lot of questions, i don't know if you got a twitter account or something like this, that you can chat with the subscribers. I don't want to spam your comments section. Ride safe.
+Panagos Kag hey. We are happy to answer anything. If it's easier for you, we have a Facebook page, facebook.com/bikesandbaking
At least there, Panagiotis will see the messages too. I deal with all the other social media accounts for the most part.

🥇🥇🥇
Nice .... wish I could figure out the map link to see where you're riding ..... my Greek linguistic skills are very limited as in none! LOL
+J-Man wait, the map isn't in English? I swear I included a google map link in the description in English. If it's the verbal that's catching you off, I translated everything into subs so just turn on the closed captioning.
Thanks ..... but the only map link is in Greek ..... tried to convert to English, but couldn't figure out how to do it.
+J-Man ok. I'll be back on Friday, so if I fail to remember just bug me about it. I'd take care of it now, but I of course left the laptop charger at home. I'll get those maps sorted out. We can probably upload the GPX file to our website too
Hi Lauren - uploading the GPX files in the comments would be great because until now I was converting them from the google-maps info, and you never know how accurate that is ;-) Could you do that retrospectively for the previous parts as well?
Ok both of you. With Panagiotis help, he gathered all of the GPX files & we've uploaded them to DropBox. For ease, I put the link on our website so we don't have to go hunting for it every time.

They are a bit out of sorts because we planned the trip in sections, so you may have to go through them all to find what you're looking for.
Slovenia IS NOT balkan!
Hungary is not part of the Balkans. Part of Slovenia is, so depending on which source you’re referencing you can be both wrong & right.
Slovenia is one of 7 Alpine nations in Europe
Learnt something new today. Thank you.
Slovenia is NOT balkan.
The Balkan Peninsula extends into Slovenia. Now whether or not Slovenia is a Balkan country is up for debate depending upon your definition & your source. Whether the country considers itself a Balkan country or not, it is in the Balkan Peninsula regardless & thus was part of our Balkan tour.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balkans
www.britannica.com/place/Balkans
www.thoughtco.com/where-are-the-balkan-states-4070249
Bikes & Baking the southern Slovenia may be geographically a part of Balkan peninsula. Us Slovene people do not deny that fact. We also generally like our Balkan brothers and neighbours and wish them all the best.
But culturally and historically Slovenia gravitates towards Italy, Austria and Germany (catholic and protestant culture). Throuhgout the history Slovenia was always a part of central European empires, kingdoms etc. and it has never been a part of political bodies that ruled the most of the Balkans, eg. of the East Roman Empire (orthodox church) and Turkey Sultanate (islam).
That’s what makes Slovenia a part of Central Europe.
Also, you don't call Ukraine asian cuntry even though USSR and Russian federation is mostly located in asia.
Thank you. Now that’s an explanation I can get on board with. From a political & cultural standpoint I can agree with you.
From our perspective we’re more involved with the geographical aspect of a country & mountains in particular are very appealing on our journeys. We went to Slovenia because it’s part of the Balkan Peninsula, & found the mountain ranges incredibly beautiful. It was by far my favourite country that we’ve been to.
It’s the same reason we included Hungary on the trip. Another country that does not consider itself a Balkan country but also has a portion located within the Balkan Peninsula.
It’s all about the point of view, & I appreciate your taking the time to explain.
