I definitely think there's a lot of us that focused on building a collection when we first started off. Everything is new and exciting when you join the indie nail space. Once you realize what you like and don't like, you start slowing down.
Basically, there's a lot of us in the same boat 😊

I loved this series. The whole point is the philosophical insight. It can take a lot of errors and a lot of money before we refine our tastes and preferences. I am surprised you have so few dried out polishes. Thank you for sharing your time with us.

i’ve never felt as much guilt as when i had to pack my nail polish collection for a move, not once but twice, within the last year. it’s made me realize that i also lost the joy of actually having and wearing my polish, and lately it has been enjoyable just from the initial package opening. realizing this has helped me stop buying just to buy. i’m still irresponsible sometimes, but this he helped me a looooot

I have come to realize it is the joy of ordering, waiting, and then receiving the polishes that keep me afloat. My serotonin literally dips once I receive them, and I have to repeat the process - The polishes I just received are pushed to the side. In my opinion - that's addiction. I need to get a handle on myself.

I just wanted to let you know this series helped me so much. Especially with the hold Holo Taco has had on me. Your willingness to let some of those polishes go inspired me to do the same and not purchase anything new that I didn't completely love for the sake of collecting. I didn't have every single one of their polishes anyway so this made me stop and realize why am I so bent on purchasing everything from them when I didn't love everything. So, thank you for being someone I respect in the nail polish community, being real and for always being honest.

What a great series! I loved your introspection in this video and you did a great job not backsliding. I think a lot of us in the nail community on IG (or at least me) see influencers getting tons of PR, and i've come to realize that you cannot keep up with someone getting entire collections from multiple brands for free . yes the colors are beautiful but its not sustainable nor intentional. Thanks for all the inspo in this series! (and i'm glad you saw my mooncat comment!) .
Would also love to see future videos if you film reorganizing your spreadsheets & swatch sticks to reflect the destash.

Omg that looks so overwhelming!! I have recently reorganized my polishes by color & then separated each color by cremes vs finishes. It helps me see what I have a lot of or quickly see if I have something similar when thinking of purchasing a polish. When I do my seasonal rack, I pick polishes from each color drawer & I feel less overwhelmed. Great job with letting go, it can sometimes be hard. TFS 😊

    Enchanted is always sought after.
The Sally Hansen Chrome's might do well in the Vintage Nail Polish Collectors group, if you're in that group?
They also look for older Essies, Nubar etc.
I don't know how you managed to make your decisions so fast with this purgatory box - it's honestly impressive & I wish I could be more decisive like this!
It's been great following you on this journey & I really appreciate all the thoughts you shared at the beginning.
I could listen to people talk about the mental/emotional sides of Collecting all day long.
I always learn something when hearing about others experiences, so *please* talk about this as much as you wish! 👏🥳

I enjoyed this series so much. I hadn’t purchased a polish this year until rewind and that was only two. I only started getting into nail polish again about a year and a half ago so my polish count is less than what you destashed. Even so, I’ve already given away several polishes to family. Your philosophy is on par with how I’m feeling. You’ve been an inspiration doing this series. Thanks so much!

Using Mercari or Ebay is a much easier way to navigate the shipping process. All you need to do is enter the weight, and the sales site generates the label for you. One bottle is generally less than 4oz with bubble wrap & using a small bubble mailer.
The nice thing about Mercari is when your buyers bundle items, they only pay shipping for one item & Mercari covers the rest, which helps you sell more items. Plus, Mercari has changed the fee schedule, so the only fees paid by the seller are funds transfer fees to your bank account.

i already commented but around 18mins you said some of the polishes are “dried without possibility of repair” but that’s not true! adding thinner and letting it melt the clumps and then continuously repeating that until the correct consistency is possible for polishes of all ages, even vintage ones that literally had broken bottles and just a polish clump at the bottom (not that you wanted those polishes anyway though lol)

You did great, I'm a reformed hoarder myself. It's been a process but I hit my breaking point at 8 helmer drawers, I'm now down to 75 bottles and I truly have nothing I would part with. I have to ignore indies whenever possible, they just trigger a scarcity mindset that I have a hard time controlling. I had always avoided PPU type events, I thought "just this once" and I did the rewind this month, felt good about getting the 3 I wanted. But this triggered me into buying 7 more bottles from brand sites, the instant gratification dopamine hit to soften the waiting period. So that's it for me, back to ignoring them and time to regroup. Get to know what I just bought and figure out if it's going to stay in my collection or not. No more PPU for me. I will diminish, and go into the west and remain Galadriel.

Also, and I hate to say this because I don’t want to spend money 😂 But when you sell, I think you can add a dollar or so because people like buying from someone they follow. Do you feel better now that you destashed all of those polishes?
I suggest keeping a box and whenever you feel like you aren't in love with a polish anymore then you can put it in the box! My tastes are always changing or I end up getting a dupe of something so I will put them in a box and once I get 10-20 or more I will sell the box

I managed to track down what I believe was the name of a single ORLY Color Blast ["Beautiful"], but for a couple others I have to rely on color descriptions only. I've got 2 bottles of this ruby red/yellow shifting polish that's super sheer and I'm scared to ever run out because I've only ever found those 2 bottles.
