Chris, My gosh! I watch your shooting and the gear and you know I am in a tailspin now... on one hand I have been saving toward an Impact .30 then I watch all of your videos with the big bores and Dang! that looks fun! I am actually thinking going hard for the Lethal Air .50 Texan or an CF 50 LSS set up like you are using. Something about lofting Volkswagen beetles 300+ yards at milk jugs that is really pulling on me..... I am so appreciative of your efforts to share elements of this sport with all of us. Sparks so many dreams and diversion from our current reality.....you have no idea pard trust me. Cant wait to see what the heck you kerplunk next! It is not just you either, Keith and Norm, Steve, Rick, UA, all of youens are something else and I love it! There are some others I am missing but are relatively new that are no slouches either. What a sport. In answer to your question, far as we can dude!
@@UpNorthAirGunner Any thoughts on the MOAV valve in the Texans? They are claiming some stupid fast velocities using cannon projectiles....reason I ask is the lethal Air 50 is more bones than an impact but is it that much better?
@@bretlawson924 Comparing the .50 cal or any of the Texans to FX Impacts is apples and oranges. The AirForce Texan line is pure power and has the ability to sling slugs over .2 BC and huge take down power for large game. FX is more of a precision internally regulated tool. They are both amazing tools, just totally different.
Chris, sorry if I mislead you. I was not asking for that comparison but rather the lethal Air modded Texan with the MOAV valve vs the TX2 in the Texan you are using. Just your opinion based off of what you know.
@@bretlawson924 Ah! I haven't shot it yet. I will say that shooting off higher than 3600 PSI with a heavier hammer is going to get you more power no matter what. I am interested in doing a head to head at the stock pressure to see how it holds up vs the stock valve. I will be with Chad next Wednesday testing it at this 1000 yard range. Stay tuned!
From one Michigander to another ... Great shot ! Hope to see you on the range some day . Keep up the great shooting and enjoy the wonderful things this state offers . "Deeds not words"
Nice shooting Chris! Unbelievable shooting 687 yd and target is barely visible by mirages. Wow! 👏. Please do a test w AAO valve for this 50 beast, Lethal air knows it.
Funny thing is the Texan .50 can sling high BC slugs and you get great dust feedback. I might drop down to a 465 grain slug in the same design and the 545s I was slinging in this video. I was slinging these around 790 so I bet I will have those 465s in 830 FPS range.
Nice shooting brother!!That was a friken Epic shot!!!!!!!!Imean damn almost 700 yards with a "pellet gun"ahahaha !😁I donttt think I can make that with my talonp in 25 cal hahaha!Growing up with bb guns I never would of thought how far airguns have came!!There incredibly accurate and some Very powerful, like your 50!!For now I am content with 1 inch groups at 100 yards with my 30cal mk2 impact!!Thankyou for the badass video!!Have a great day!
Funny you mention that! Notice the gun is a bit louder than a normal LSS Texan. I have to remove the end baffle cup to get rid of the barrel blur peeking into my sight picture.
@@UpNorthAirGunner Nice! Totally makes sense you had to do that! Now a tech question for you: when the scope is at a crazy angle like that, where (on the scope) did you measure from to get the scope height to calculate your dope?
True but this couldn’t be considered a formal Milk Jug Challenge attempt anyway since it needs to be 1000 yards. Plus I hit it center mass so the size of the jug wouldn’t matter. 😂😂😂
Cris can you beat the group "Big Bore Air Guns" put down at 300 yards "Untethered" he shot the best group I have ever seen at that range with a big bore air rifle, he untethered put 3 of 4 rounds in a 3 in group almost in a perfect line up and down. He said he was using is own poorly made bullets as well, you should have shoot out with him
I have in the past and it took me awhile to get the .457 tuned for a 3 shot velocity string tight enough to even come close. That’s why I shoot tethered otherwise you’re just chasing that vertical drop.
Have you computed the BC values for any other slugs? Is there any database/spreadsheet online showing computed BC values for any of Mr. Hollowpoint's .50 caliber rounds?
Had brooks moulds make me one that has a bc of .545 g1 .its a 450 grain spitzer . Ive got the moav valve and get 950+ fps with that 450 . You'll have to make your own rounds and have a custom mould made
There are markers out there but you can't see them in scope cam footage. You can see a Gadsden flag (Don't Tread on Me) flag on the right edge of the range in this video. Notice how the wind just shuts down from time to time. That threw off the point of impact by feet!
“Better” barrels isn’t the issue. The issue is the lack of pressure that can be generated with an Airgun to overcome the friction difference of copper vs. lead. With that said, Lehigh has created a copper slug that we’ve tested extensively that is SUPER accurate and deadly on deer. It’s called the F5 in .457 or .50 cal. Go check it out.
Calculated luck actually. Which quite honestly is all any ELR shooting really is. If you think about it, no one can predict EXACTLY what the wind will do over such a great distance and time. All the best wind readers or electronic devices in the world can’t tell you what’s going to happen during those 7 seconds of flight time. Just FYI.... When externally regulated, the Texan can hold MOA groups.
I’m sorry but I don’t really understand what the challenge is when you take 10 or more shots to hit something. I mean if that was some evil dictator I doubt he would stick around for 10 shots lol. And “Bingo got it”? I would hope after that many shots you would get it.
This is one of my favorite aspects of airgunning... "ELR!" What got me started was a 90 yard coyote kill with a Benjamin. *GREAT VIDEO!*
Long range shooting is so awesome. Just the puff of sand close to the target gives me satisfaction
Absolutely

Good job , was that a stock 50 cal texan ,?
I know nothing about long range shooting but why not have a wind direction marker place on the milk jug pole? Or is that a no, no?
