If you’re not worried about trade value that’s a viable option, but if you plan to trade it in the future it will book at an SR5 and your options will be lost. :(
That's alot of building yourself.. TRD skid plate, roof rack, TRD PRO $700+ exhaust, dual climate with additional screen under the radio only available on limited and the Pro, LED foglights, TRD Pro floor liners, Fox shocks and springs, Wheels and Tires, painted hood scoop, front and rear bumpers. Better front Grill... Just from the top of my head. Probably a few more things I'm forgetting
@@NightingaleNews You obviously have not shopped 4runners. Pros only hold value a bit more if they are the special color, otherwise they all hold value about the same. 2 year old Offroad premiums go for almost msrp still even with quite a few miles on them.
2020 4Runner changes: CarPlay Lol, I love the 4Runner and plan on getting one next but come on, it’s so antiquated. That’s partially why it’s so awesome. I love those new sidesteps though!
One thing that seems out of place, although no big deal is the gas struts holding up the hood. They fail at some time. The manual holding rod theoretically will last the life of the truck and work every time, even deep in the back country where things shouldn't fail. Just a little thing. I always carry back up gear.
I want to start going on road trips next summer so I may look into the KDSS for it as I've heard it gives you a better smoother ride on the highway and in the city.
@@PartyUpLive Not trying to rag, but I haven't seen any solid reviews about the KDSS, and the difference it makes, apart from side comments during larger reviews. I just got a 2020 sr5p so I missed out on KDSS but I'm still curious what I might be missing? Do you have any good resources going further in depth about KDSS? Thanks!
Brian Mclaughlin That, and then up the 4.6 to 350. One thing I don’t understand in Toyota is tuning. Gx460 has 301 but the 4.6 LandCruiser has 310... same thing with the 5.7 tundra gets 381hp while LandCruiser gets 362hp...
Brian Zhu thank you, deep state, for telling me what I need. Do most people who have a Land Cruiser NEED a Land Cruiser? Re for WANTING one: possible discontinuation of probably one of the most reliable V8s, possible discontinuation of the model completely, ride quality, RELIABILITY.
I don't want the smart key so I'm looking at the TRD 4runner off road base model. I'll end up saving a few thousand bucks and I'll pretty much be getting everything I want/need. But my color is silver with black trim. And TRD rims. Also I'm 6' 9" tall and I sat in the 4Runner and fit just fine.
@@ckbun yeah but I'm trying to stay away from unnecessary tech, meaning heated and ventilated seats are also something I don't really want or need. Maybe between now and when I go looking for a 4runner I'll convince myself that push to start is a must have.
6'9" and you fit OK? Did it have a moon / sun roof? I"m 6'3" and considering it, but without that roof. You're loosing almost 2" of headroom to a feature you almost never use...
@@MVL5802 Yes the one I sat in didn't have a moonroof. I don't really care for a moonroof so that's not a big deal for me. And you lose a little bit more head room in the rear with a moon roof. Personally I don't care for it and that's just one more thing to leak/break later on when you're out of warranty.
@@jimbecker8705 did you have to have your seat all the way back when you sat in the 4Runner? Were you still able to fold down the second row seat behind the driver for cargo space?
NEED BETTER MPG!! If a highlander can get 21/29, at least the 4runner can be a bit close to those numbers. For highway, you are talking g about 10 MILES differences!!
Look! It's a 2009 Lexus es350 in terms of technology.... I've owned 4 gens, I'm tired of this until they get into the modern day... always a solid vehicle, but get with it Toyota
I agree on the engine. I just recently rented one for 2 weeks and averaged 19.8 mpg. Considering it is smaller, lighter and less powerful than my Tundra it should get much better mileage.
How is this revolutionary as you say? It seems like is an attempt to catch up with the rest of the industry. I love the 4Runner but I think I will use the word rugged and bad ass! Before I use revolutionary.
$53k is a bit much. I would prefer a TRD off road premium and build it up myself.
If you’re not worried about trade value that’s a viable option, but if you plan to trade it in the future it will book at an SR5 and your options will be lost. :(
@Mojo that's us dollars, about the same price with prado in australia. the older model should be the same thing with hilux surf. it's not cheap.

“Nice rack!” Jeff, you kill me!! :P
I am so digging the new 4Runner. If I could have a second vehicle, THAT would be the one. Great review, my friend.
Bryan Wicks Trade in what you have and get it. You will regret never getting it over time.
Great video Jeff, thank you for the details

YES!!!!
Thanks Jeff. I'd love to see how the Alexa features work, specifically the remote start.
Excellent review jeff !
Thank you...👍😎

Awesome upgrades to the TRD PRO.

cabin ceiling is very low specially due to moon roof ...
Agreed. His head is almost touching and if he bounces on tough terrain he might bump it.

Revolutionize?
does the 2020 have power folding side mirrors?
Woah Toyota finally listened from the complaints from 2019 and definitely made the 2020 perfect
They should have started with upping the horsepower to at least 300,mated to an 8 speed transmission.

Exactly, that’s why Toyota needs to step it up and update this good, but ancient rig with a new powertrain.
Now Nissan increased the power numbers for the 2020 Titan to match the Nissan Patrol Infiniti QX80... and the Patrol had these numbers since 2010...
Correct me if I am wrong but the 2020 base 4 runner still has a key and not push button start.
Correct. Only Premiums and Limiteds and TRD Pros get smart key
Hi, that is an american made vehicle?
I don't know if it looks better in army green or super white... What is your favorite color for the 4runner?
Does it have heated and cooled seats Jeff?
Does it have BSM?
Between 4Runner and Highlander, which is better for towing a small travel trailer less than 3500 lbs? Thanks
Both would work good for 3500lbs
Which one is better TRD pro 4R or a Land Cruiser...off road, resale, keeping long term?
