  • This is the Cohen's crayfish, made to imitate crayfish that are often one of the more abundant food sources in many water bodies. Tied in different colors and sizes, this can catch anything from trout, crappie, bluegill to bass. No matter what you're after, this is worth a try. The best part is they are extremely easy and fun to tie; the only thing is they are a bit time-consuming.

    Once again, thank you all for your support over the years! We just hit 250K subscribers, an absolute insane number of people interested in fly tying. I've got a very special video in the works for it and should be out soon. Also, If you want to spin this one up here are the materials! Oh and some dumbbell eyes would make for a great addition for a faster sink rate and better action in the water.

    I never used a crayfish fly pattern before. I appreciate the different flies that will help broaden my range in fly fishing! Thanks for the video, tight lines! 😎🎣

    Dang. That is the easiest to tie crayfish pattern I've seen. And it looks good. Smallmouth beware!

    I’ve seen many crayfish patterns on RUclips but nothing quite unique as this one and I might tie this for the fun of it. One more thing would you have any advice for making tying videos because I just started making my own videos and am not really sure how to do certain things such as coming up with flies to tie.

    • @MainelyFlies
      @MainelyFlies  4 месяца назад +2

      Thanks, I really like this one! Well, there's a lot to making these videos. In a short message, the best advice I can give is: don't worry about the small stuff and start before you're ready. Over time, improve one thing at a time and you'll see a huge difference by the end of the year. Mine are still not where I want them, but I always work to make them just that much better, even if no one can see it. For me, the fly patterns are the easy part; there are so many out there, and each one you think is standard will always be new to someone.

      You would love it fishing is an amazing experience and me personally I catch and release my fish but I use live/frozen baits or fake baits (examples are plastic lizards/crankbaits) and one time I got sick from allergies on vacation and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't enjoy it and then on the day we were leaving to head back home my family stopped by a river for me to fish and despite me being sick me catching a few fish made a full 360 turn around and that is one of the many best memories of vacation time I'll always remember and another time my sister accidentally caught a sea turtle at a fishing pier at the beach and it got everyone's attention and luckily no one was sick and also the sea turtle eventually unhooked itself

    I have a genuine curious question and that is does your website have a way to special order flies like the crayfish fly in this video and if so then how do I special order it and among many others and also what would be the estimated price for each special order flys cause I really love to have the flies that you make but unfortunately I can't make them myself and also I don't have no one in my family who can make them but anyways that's why I subscribed to you for is cause you make really cool handmade flies

    • @MainelyFlies
      @MainelyFlies  4 месяца назад +2

      Yes, I have a custom order form where you can submit requests for whatever you would like. You'll find that here (www.mainely-outdoors.com/custom-fly-orders). After that, I'll send out an invoice and get started on the flies. Generally, I have a 1-week turnaround time, but as spring comes, it will start to extend to 2 weeks for a month or so. Thanks for reaching out. These comments are hard to see, so if you have any other questions, you can always reach out to me here: mainelyoudoors18@gmail.com

    How long does this take to make? #flies

    • @MainelyFlies
      @MainelyFlies  4 месяца назад +1

      This one probably took me about 15-20ish mins. They would go faster if you made multiple at a time just lots of material prep in the painting. I would think you could get it down to about 10-15 with prep and repetition.
