    ***UPDATE*** I compared the results of the iDip to my Hanna checker for Alk and they came out pretty much the same, only off by one PPM. However my test for Ca using Red Sea Pro Ca kit came up with 460 tonight. (Video was filmed about a week ago so some drop due to turning Crx down) eXact iDip still reading HI so I contacted the manufacturer and will have more info soon.

      RealReefingTV That’s critical-you would’ve disrupted the chemistry of your reef based on false test results. I’m having doubts about this Idip-just didn’t make sense chemistry wise with those alkalinity and calcium results, and nothing apparently wrong with the tank. Best to confirm strange test results with another test brand before drastic changes.

      A rep from the manufacturer thinks its the reagents for Ca and is sending a new batch.. more to come 🤞

    You should REALLY test again preferrably with a trustly kit like salifert or red sea.

    How about testing calcium with another brand test kit to confirm this high value? Doesn’t make sense to me to have it that high with no apparent problems. If it was precipitating out wouldn’t you have seen that already? Wouldn’t your sandbed be concrete by now?

    Love mine! Can test everything. I added copper and ozone testing to the standard mix. Talked to them about added ability to test dissolved oxygen.

    The video you watched said to replace the cap after the dip, this may be the error in high reading. I didn't see you replace the cap.

    It would have been better if you had used it for a month or so and were familiar with the product before doing a video on it.

    I have been researching this system to use in our aquaculture facility. I am finding very mixed reviews. Are you happy with it now that you have had some time to use it?

    2.8ml of aquarium water and 3 drops of the liquid reagent, with this formula it delivers the correct value.

    If your tank is stable. It's stable man. Chasing numbers only leads to more problems. Don't kill all your coral. If there doing great at 700+ then... who's to say that isn't correct for your system. Honestly. Tune your reactor slowly. Don't stress your corals by changing your tank overnight.

    • @RealReefingTV
      @RealReefingTV  5 лет назад +1

      True words, it's not at 700 tho. I tested with red sea and it turns out my calcium is at 460. I contacted manufacturer and they think it's the reagents and are sending a new batch. More to come

  • @bgoldb21

    Don't be completely ridiculous and test with another test kit. In addition, there should be no reason to manage alk and calcium (dosing alk) separately if you are using a calcium reactor. After retesting with another test kit, update your video with your findings as you may be promoting a bad product which could lead people to the same false conclusion that I suspect you have come to.
