I am almost done with my first reading of The Woman in White and I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I can’t put it down…it’s such a page-turner. Also a friend of mine recommended I read Tess as my first Hardy and now that you gushed about it it definitely will be! Such a lovely wrap up.
I can’t wait to get my copy of The Woman in White!😁 I’m ok with a slow burn. And I have TOTD’s in my tbr. 📚I feel inspired to read more since getting back into reading and really appreciate your review on it. Hope your feeling better Miriam since posting your video, hope all goes well with your surgery, and take care😊💓
I found it yay! It took me way too long to realise that the 5 little pigs nursery rhyme was the one about toes 😂 I NEED to read A Million Little Choices. I LOVE that kind of stuff. And yes, please more books like it! I rarely even hear about infidelity stories that involve healing! I'd love to read that! Yess! Tess gets the top spot 😁 I knew you'd like it. It definitely destroyed me, too. As it should 🤣
@@lindsaylou_lemus I'm reading The Moonstone and really liking it! It's almost like a detective led story but being told through the eyes of one of the head servants. I'm surprised I like it as much as I do considering how some people have said they didn't like it as well as The Woman in White. It pays to not listen to people.🤣🤣
@Thecatladybooknook_PennyD ohhhh good! I'm excited to start it soon and I'll be checking in with you Penny! I felt kind of out of sync with everyone because there are soooo many choosing to read the woman in white
I think "train" movies and tv episodes are so good too. Something just cozy about them lol. I have several of the british library crime classic books. Haven't read any yet.
I'm glad i found you again. I just wanted to say thanks for influencing me to read little women for the first time. I have never seen such beautifully written characters and the wholesomeness is off the charts. It's really a special, special book that's hard to put into words how touching it is at times. In some ways it's sad that times where people and families were like that will never be the norm again. so it feels a little bittersweet to read in that regard. Though I can understand more postmodern minded people finding the social standards in the book too constrictive. Anyways, I digress...might be the best book i've ever read, Thank you you for convincing your audience of its greatness. "I know they will ... conquer themselves so beautifully that ... I may be fonder and prouder than ever of my little women."
This comment made my day!! I’m beyond extatic that you loved Little Women! That book means so much to me. The characters means so much to me. It truly is the most wholesome of books!
I am currently reading “Blood on the Tracks” in October. I am enjoying it. You are not the only one that has a love for trains. My husband and I are huge fans of trains; more so steam trains. Have you ever read the author Edward Marston? He has a series called “The Railway Detective” it is set in 1850s England. I enjoy them (as well some of his other series).
@@miriamelizabethreads Edward Marston has different historical mystery series of different time periods. The particular ones I am in the middle of are: the Railway Detective series which is 1850s (Scotland Yard is in its infancy as well as trains), Home Front series which is WWI, Domesday series which is 20 years after Domesday book was completed, and Bow Street Rivals which is around 1815 prior to Scotland Yard. He has other series even one about Luxury Liners.
That is my favorite Mrs Pollifax book! I’ve read all of the books in the series, many twice or three times. Same with Jaqueline Winspear. I’m so glad you mentioned The Portrait of Loyalty. I was not aware of this author and I’m so happy. Thanks for talking about The Woman in White. I have started it for Victober but the first chapter was so slow and wordy I stopped reading. I’ll go back knowing it’s a slow burn and picks up and also has interesting characters.
Hi Miriam, I also enjoyed the Georgie mysteries and thought they were so unique and funny. Loved the dumb brother and sister-in-law. They just didn’t get it. Ha. I also really liked the Tess book by Hardy. It was my favorite of his so far. I loved the honeymoon aspect near the end before she paid for the crime. Yea! I also enjoyed The Woman in White when I was about 16. I’d like to order another copy but have so many to read now. I finished Frankenstein and enjoyed it. It read like a fairytale didn’t it? Now I just finished the first of the Chadwick chronicles, and really enjoyed it too. The name slips my mind and I’m really sorry but the author I’d Marcia Willet. Now I am reading Yhe Tennant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte and am liking that too. I might read Sylvia’s Lovers by Gaskell and/or Dr. Thorne by Trollope. I also have the short stories in A House to Let and The Haunted House by Dickens, and the Sherlock Holmes short stories. Ambitious right? We’ll see. Thank you.😊😊😊❤
Currently reading The Woman in White for Victober! I’m more than half way through and I love it. I’m cracking up at the account written by Mr. Fairlie because he is hilarious!
That's hilarious that you loved Tess of the D'Urbervilles. I can't even describe the passion with which i hate that book. 😂😂😂 And that Stonehenge scene.... So cringe. I had secondhand embarrassment and almost couldn't make it through. 😂😂 I'm not even sure i want to pick up another Hardy, because i have enjoyed some of his books but i have hated others. I'm not sure the ones i love are worth struggling through the others.
Nice to 'see' you again. Prayed about the upcoming medical procedure you mentioned.🙏 Recently ordered Woman in White and am optimistic. Also, my wife is your fellow-Pollifax fan! :) Finally, just a thought: I too love trains and stories that involve them and wanted to recommend an old Alfred Hitchcock movie I think you might really enjoy (I do) -- The Lady Vanishes (1938).🚃
Thank you for your prayers!! I hope you enjoy The Woman in White! I'm glad to hear your wife also loves Mrs. Pollifax! 😄 I've seen a more modern adaptation of The Lady Vanishes but the 30s one is on my list to watch!!
I read Tess in August and loved it sooooo much! I'm happy you enjoyed it, too. 😊
I'm so so happy you also loved it!!
I'm the same with contemporary. I'll have to try that one!
I'm looking forward to reading The Woman in White. May try to pick it up before the end of the year.
I really need to read that Tamera Alexander book. It's been on my TBR since it came out.
I'm so glad I found you. Definitely worth a subscribe. ❤
That’s so kind! Thank you 😊

I'm soooo glad you love the woman in white!!!! It's just so great! Tess is an emotional rollercoaster - I hope you love it!!
I love Maisie Dobbs! I think I'm up to book 6 as well! I definetly need to prioritize The Woman In White!

Christmas in September! I'm here for it! Sometimes, you just need some Christmas. 😂❤
Yesss!
Will be praying over you for your surgery sister 🙏🏼❤️
❤️❤️❤️
I definitely want to read the code breaker series!
Awww! I love Hardy’s writing style, but his stories are hard for me. I’m so glad that Tess really worked so well for you! ♥️
They’re definitely hard-hitting and emotionally draining 😭
I'm going to read the moonstone this month for Victober but I want to read the woman in white too!

Tess is one I have struggled with since high school. Maybe it is time to give it another chance.
I too absolutely adore Mrs. Polifax!

Some people don't read 12 books in a life time. Best wishes and happy reading.
Very true, thank you! :)
We have very similar reading tastes. I love Roseanna M White's books as well but not the codebreakers series - it's hard for me to get into as well.
My favourite of hers so far is the Shadows Over London series! Love all the characters.
