People need to learn how to do their own hair instead of paying all that money I only pay 15 dollars to get the hair and do it myself its been trial and error but you get better over time
Great video! I get mine to last a long time by using braid and scalp sprays and sleeping with a satin bonnet. I used to wash my hair in braids but it’s a little more hassle so I stopped.
Usone Precious I do the same thing!! I only wash them like once now but other than that I try to just keep them as clean as possible. I’ve noticed the less I wash it the longer they last
Crazy you said that, I have a stain pillowcase and just bought a satin scarf, I have that conditioner and similar of most of what you recommended. My braids will definitely last long!!
Idk if you are from Africa you can relate....to add on all the awesome ways that have already been said, you can also go for "repair", usually done on the braids around the hairline
I know this is extra, but because I have thin hair, as soon as I see new growth (about every 6 weeks), I actually rebraid my hair. I also normally wear it up so the braids don't pull as much on my edges and roots. I definitely tie my hair in a scarf and have 2 silk pillowcases. Much love and blessings to everyone. Stay safe 💋 🙏 ❤ 🤎🖤
Tia Richards yes! the olive oil sheen will make your braids look fresh and the durag will keep the braids from frizzing. I would also look knot the braid spray. That will keep your hair moisturized and reduce breakage especially around your edges. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions!
Karis Hortin yes thankkkk u so much I got my box braids yesterday and I’m loving them but do u know what it is that sticks out of it a little bit do u think it’s just my hair
Tia Richards hmm I’m not sure. Do you have Insta? Maybe you can DM a pic of it so I can have like a better understanding of what it might be? If you don’t feel comfortable with that I totally understand. I just wanna help in any way I can
Awww thank you! Tbh idk the exact name but I got it from dollar genral! I have had it for awhile not sure if they even still have it, I just got the brightest color lol
If your hair is frizzy throughout the braids it’s because the braider didn’t tuck your hair within the braid. It should only be frizzy at the roots. If it’s only frizzy there then you can easily take care of that by adding a light leave-in, some oil, and smoothing your hair with some Jam. Tie your hair down with a silk scarf and your hair should look new again.
The dandruff might be caused by the braiding hair. The hair is covered with a chemical residue from the manufacturing process. This residue can be very irritating to the scalp, so pre-washing the hair before use might help you. It worked for me! You can easily wash any type of braiding hair by soaking it in a mix of warm water and apple cider vinegar. Add enough water to cover the hair, then add about 1/4 cup vinegar. Let it soak for 15-30 minutes then hang it up in the shower or some where to dry. It dries in about 4 hours or you can leave it over night. That's it! 😊 Tip: tie off the end of each hair bundle with a rubber band to prevent the hair from tangling I've used this method and it works! My scalp would get super itchy and flaky within days of braiding my hair. After pre-washing the hair, my scalp is like normal! No horrid flakes or intense itching! Tip: regularly moisturizing your scalp with oil helps too
I’ve had my braids for 6 days and I’m ready to remove them, this itching is sickening! Never had braids before. My head feels so heavy. I want to keep my edges braids coming out in a couple of days
I've had mine in for a week and they look like they are trying to unravel. My real hair is sticking out and each braid has a ton of loose hairs. Why are they this bad so quick? I tie it up at night
Same thing happens to me and to make it worse dandruff starts coming on on my front so it just doesn’t look good. I think the best we can do is wash w the braids in. Lmk if u have found any tips tho!
It might be the braiding hair. Shop in your area for pre-washed or hypoallergenic braiding hair. Usually black owned beauty supply stores sale it. I hope this helps.
@@el807 Girl, I have started my loc journey... temporary loc as I can't imagine the permanence that loc brings ! But soon I will have the lengths and the benefits of braids with my own hair! LOL!

do you recommend sprucing the braids by doing a quick dip in boiling water with coconut oil. not boiling but luke warm
Love the tips, thank you. Great persona❤️
Rachel Samwel aww so glad you liked them!!
I would recommend buying the coconut oil from walmart because i got it there for like 98 cents.
Will this also work for people with rubber band box braids ?
I'm going to try it.
How often do you spray them with the braid spray?
She so pretty!
awww thank you
@@Karisbell u welcome mama! ❤️
Do you wash them do you just use the braid spray for itch
Incredible!

I just found this and I am about to get my braids

Tia Richards and yes the first week or so can be really annoying cause Of how tight it is, but when it lessens up with feels soooo much better!!
Wow, you’re really pretty. What blush are you wearing?
Awww thank you! Tbh idk the exact name but I got it from dollar genral! I have had it for awhile not sure if they even still have it, I just got the brightest color lol

Same here

How do you wash them? i was considering washing my braids because i have terrible dandruff at jy scalp. Idk what to do about that.

It may be the type of hair used. Some hair can cause irritation. In my case, I have to use the hypoallergenic kind.
Is polyester the same at satin??
That’s a really good question! I don’t think so. Satin is a little softer than polyester!
Do bonnets work
yes they do!
I've had mine in for a week and they look like they are trying to unravel. My real hair is sticking out and each braid has a ton of loose hairs. Why are they this bad so quick? I tie it up at night
mine do the same! i’d love to know how to prevent pieces of my real hair sticking out
Maybe it was installed wrongly. Try to blowout your hair or stretch heat free before braiding
my hair starts itching like crazy after 1.5 to two weeks! So I can't keep them in for more than 3 weeks if that long. Any ideas on how to stop this?
Same thing happens to me and to make it worse dandruff starts coming on on my front so it just doesn’t look good. I think the best we can do is wash w the braids in. Lmk if u have found any tips tho!
Some braids cause itching and allergic reactions look it up

Do you wash your braids?
Lean I only wash it like once a month. I’ve noticed washing them too much made them look older.
Do you wash your braids?
I only wash them like a couple times. I keep them for about 2 months and wash them every 3-4 weeks
