What brought me to this video is a Google search as my mother(soon to be 80) has a 1974 with no mint stamp silver penny a 1943 silver penny as well as a 1987 silver penny. I would like to know where I can have them examined and certified professionally. We also have a few of the rarer Morgan silver dollars silver nickels and a few other coins that are noteworthy. Thanks in advance.

Are there any 1975-D Aluminum Lincoln cents? If someone has one, how should they proceed? Will government seize?

Department of Justice wanted the coin back because they said his father wasn't officially authorized to have the coin it was stolen property. They went to court and won now the Government has the coin they are going to display the coin as part of a mint history.

the 74 aluminum penny is very light weight when you hold one in your hand you can tell the diff it almost feels like holding a piece of papper AND no i dont have one big brother but did see one many years ago

I wouldn't even think of holding that coin in my bare hand, but weighing it would be simple enough.

On another note I just put it under the scope it is gold on top with copper under then the aluminium it's lighter than a reg copper penny I haven't weighed it I can't find my scale but I compared it by dropping it on my palm and dropping a reg penny you can feel the difference and the sound when you lightly drop it on a table too lol I had it for 30 + years I had no idea it was a myth coin but I heard maybe 15 yrs back it was illegal to have so I remained silent about it but I can get my attorney if it is I found it in Texas while playing at a old guys house that actually worked at the Philly mint so now you know I really think it's the real deal and there were 3 more there some I remember we're like brass looking and red copper and a solid aluminium like the one your holding in your hand and this one with the goldish copper and a gold ring my friend kept a 74 nickle and my other friend kept a 74 quarter I got stuck with the penny but I loved the color and my friend kept the other penny s I I don't think he has them any more but I'll ask him and ask my mom what the guys name was who lived at that house we just knew he had moved there from Philly and was a minter but it's been 30 smthn years maybe she remember she getting old but yeah I like to reveal the myth I heard on your video I can bet that guy had smthn to do with that myth lol 🤗 there ds not just 1974

You don't have this one. There are many 1974 pennies but there has only been found one example of a 1974-D minted aluminum cent which is what is shown in the video. The D is important as there were never known to be any D-minted 1974 aluminum cents ever until this one turned up. There were one million or so 1974-P (no mintmark) aluminum cents that were known about but hadn't surfaced, as it's a matter of record that they were produced on a trial basis and examples were shown to congress. However they were not approved by congress and were subsequently destroyed. Some examples could have survived but only one was ever shown; it was photographed by the media but I'm not sure the whereabouts or existence of this coin otherwise. I've read that 14 examples could have survived but have not heard of any that have been recovered nor in private hands. If you had a genuine U.S. mint aluminum cent either P or D, you would have something that could be worth millions of dollars. However you'd have to explain how you got it to the FBI and the Secret Service. These are considered government property as they were never intended for circulation, never became money at the Federal Reserve nor were they ever specially released or approved in any way to be released. They're not legal tender and the government considers them stolen property. I believe the coin in this video was actually seized by the U.S. government at a later date and as far as I know is being held in Fort Knox. This wouldn't be the first such incident of a coin the government has recovered or is trying to recover on the grounds that it was never meant to be released and escaped government custody by unofficial means.

It was pure aluminum they made a few for testing. The ones they gave congressmen one was dropped on the floor gave it to a police officer that one was sold for $200k. I'm surprised the Government didn't come after that one also.

The V was an intentional design choice as the lettering on the Peace Dollar, which was not type set but hand engraving, evokes Roman square or rustic capitals, with a hint of perhaps art deco. It's important to note that at one time the Latin alphabet did not contain the letters like U or J (or W for that matter, although the W in WE is rendered on the coin). These letters were added later as the sounds of the Latin language changed but their old forms are sometimes rendered for stylistic purposes. U's can become V's, W's can become VV's, J's can become IE's, et al.

I got one a 1974 d aluminum with copper plating and gold rings around coin and on reverse you can see the copper coming off and aluminium showing it's a beauty but I don't want to get arrested I heard you can't own it but if this guy sells his in April I can sell mine I found it as a kid 30 yrs ago I liked the gold ring and the copper but let me know if I can certify it and sell it it's legit if illegal I want to keep it cause it's been with me for more than 30 yrs now it's mint state except where the copper is coming off I found it like that already just a lil of the copper was off I mean very lil just enough to see the aluminium under I bet it was done purposely but let me know I don't want to get it certify and get it confiscated or do I need to get an attorney to certify
