i can watch this a thousand times and it's not going to get boring. I'll soon start to learn cello. This video will inspire me everyday to practice every second I can. =D
Everytime I watch this, I get goosebumps. It helps that I am Australian (like AC/DC), but this is a legendary performance to watch! ! Uber cool.....xxx
@PossumFilmsAU thanks. Correct - i use black bow hair. I do because it lasts longer and i sort of got used to the black, even though i think there is not a big difference. the heavier grip comes from the fingers playing wise (index finger). No modifications are made.
Ok ok you are aaaaaawsome and ac/dc is one of my favorite bands and I've been playing the cello for about six years now. So go you charge lessons over Skype or do you just do it for free there has to be a catch
Thanks. The next funk-cello video will be of a song "D.A.N.C.E" , originally by Justice. But the song is kind of dedication to Michael Jackson (RIP) so that is why it will be the next.
haha, yeah! at least that is the goal. the history of using cello in a versatile way is very young, so there´s a lot of work to do, honestly. But i do believe in the possibilities of the cello. thanks for commenting. new video coming in a few weeks.
@BloodfromtheAshes thanks for the idea.. Hmm..Problem is, i dont have two HD cams or editing softwatre. Just two cell phones, but good external Roland Edirol audio recorder. It should be a simple / easy to use HD video software (concentraning on the audio..), but i would like HD because the audio would be better indeed. do you have any recommendations? Thanks in advance.
I´ve been playing some of "For the love of god" - it´s a great song, but very difficult too, because Vai´s phrasering is so tight and unique......thanks for the idea. I may go more for the funky stuff but also ballads at some point.
@chopper00700 sorry for a super slow reply but here it is. listen to the original. ending timing is important. train your bow hand and expecially first finger of the bow hand. it is more martele -ish than spicatto-ish. thanks for the question
@saitycsart thanks for the comments. I would maybe just call it rock... Because you are right, cello is classical instrument, but here i play blues-based/pentatonic stuff, no classical music or influence of classical is included in this performance. Influences are mainly rock guitarists and rock music generally.
that would be great. i also would recommend songs from their "by the way" or "californication" album. i think it would sound nice with a cello! just saying.. :)
@makakho sorry i didnt notice your message until now. I play everything by ear. no notes are sheet music, sorry. Try picking up the notes and the FEEL by ear.
@savageninjaa thanks. i never use notes...i only play by ear... i just jammed on this and composed the soloes and some riffs by myself. that is the only way to do this music, in my opinion.
@Winters7Roses thanks...no i dont have the notes because i just jam it all, play by ear. I really recommend it... THAT is my secret weapon.. If i´d play by some nerdy notes it would sound totally different trust me. We have to do it like the guitarists does if want to get it right and kickin´. It´s a good question anyway, i appreciate you for asking.
thanks for the input. Next i´m going to do a Justice cover, but then definetily more funk rhcp. (psst. I prefer to play the guitar-esque stuff (Frusciante RHCP), rather than bass-type. Because I previously played "bass-cello" on one band, but "cellobass" just lacks the dynamics of a real bass no matter how dynamic and rhytmic the bow use is. And i like to do soloes :)
Oh- Mi- Gawsh! That is AMAZING! How long have you been playing? I Just started last year... I'm pretty good for a beginer, but I just wish I was half as good as you. (:
@gadzooks64 Thanks! Sorry, there is no sheet music because i play by ear. this is part of a rock/pop playing technique (that involves learning blues for both hands - very important). But i would love to teach your son
@MrJamesR97 cool, keep practicing really hard (also all the scales and excercises) and it will be great. Motivation is the key. Try training your ear instead of reading sheets: Does AC/DC read from the notes during a live gig? No, it will sound better without sheets, getting better with ear. It is difficult at first but trust me. all the best from Finland!
the solo just melted my face and the whisky glass straight off...vaporized...you are really talented my man
i can watch this a thousand times and it's not going to get boring. I'll soon start to learn cello. This video will inspire me everyday to practice every second I can. =D
@eliaskahila you're a genious , you're the living definition of musician

Thanks for asking. I play everything by ear, so sorry i dont unfortunately have any sheet music of the cello tracks.
Thanks.
The next funk-cello video will be of a song "D.A.N.C.E" , originally by Justice. But the song is kind of dedication to Michael Jackson (RIP) so that is why it will be the next.
Aivan helevetin mahtavaa :D
Jatka samaan mallin niin saadaan Apocalypticaan uus jäsen

Awesome!!
haha, yeah! at least that is the goal. the history of using cello in a versatile way is very young, so there´s a lot of work to do, honestly. But i do believe in the possibilities of the cello. thanks for commenting. new video coming in a few weeks.
Dang, that sounds really cool.
totally totally ha ha...foot stomping! Greetings from indya
The best song. Good !!!
PLEASE teach me how to play this! I'm in love 😍
I just started to learn, do you recommend trying or wait to improve my technique?
Hi Andrea! Gongrats for starting. I recommend you learn the basics first with a teacher that is there in the physical location. That is a must !
@BloodfromtheAshes thanks for the idea.. Hmm..Problem is, i dont have two HD cams or editing softwatre. Just two cell phones, but good external Roland Edirol audio recorder. wow......i am headbanging to a CELLO..!! cool
Amazing!
This is good stuff!
I don't care for AC/DC, but really nice job on this man. I'd love to see you in a band.
that's brilliant!!!!
wow that was amazing
Put your vids in HD if possible so they we get the true pure sound. Good job obviously!
I´ve been playing some of "For the love of god" - it´s a great song, but very difficult too, because Vai´s phrasering is so tight and unique......thanks for the idea. I may go more for the funky stuff but also ballads at some point.

@auntiemb Thanks. Yes. My solo album , released in 2006, called Break Point.
That was awsome.
@saitycsart thanks for the comments. I would maybe just call it rock... Hello Elias, I wonder if you have scores of all you touch and where to get?. Thank you cojonudo
@savageninjaa thanks. i never use notes...i only play by ear... i just jammed on this and composed the soloes and some riffs by myself. that is the only way to do this music, in my opinion.

@Baprener Thanks for the request. Would love to make a cover of "How i could just kill a man" from Rage.

Yes, i´m working on more RHCP as well. Propably a song from BloodSugarSexMagic album.
