    It's amazing how many people put their figures on a shelf, stand back to admire, and totally fail to realise that they can't see half the figures because of what's in front.

    I think you guys are spot on about Transformers needing some sort of environment/setting. I feel it might be because of what they are: they aren't costumed humans, but somewhat humanoid robots, and they also look like their alt modes, making it more difficult for our eyes and brains to easily differentiate between the figures and their surroundings. So if you put too many together - which happens quickly for Transformers - it becomes more of a Where's Wally poster than some stylized display. The setting, if implemented correctly, should ease your brain into recognizing the shapes of the Transformers more quickly, making them pop instead of blend together.

    Quick assumption for the "Garringer" display: Rubber ducky is most likely signed by David Kaye, voice of Beast Wars Megs. It would end up on my shelf solo too or at least with a Megs identifier.

    Yay finally! I love to see peoples collection, its not a thing I ever see in regular life. These make me so happy, thank you Dummies!
    Love Larrys G1 and Godzilla shelves, the white shelves with the yellow background seems to highlight the figures in an unusual way.
    Looking forward to the next one!

    I don't think Shoky's statues integrate with dark shelves because it's like a block of landscape on a shelf. Whereas TFs on a shelf are clearly standing on the shelf. I can't explain it. I think those statues that have a chunk of ground look better on glass.

    I've got a full city battle scene going on atop my kallax. Mix of Titans, basics and old minicons. Light strip simulating street lights with 4 spot lights shooting up, along with some choice blast effects. I feel like I cobbled a pretty decent skyline together, tons of vertical interest. Looks great from 8 feet away. Gets better the closer you move.

    Bobby,there's been a mix up on Larry's segment. The Godzilla, G1, and corner shelves, are part of my collection. I'm not mad though, I still have your input. Also, I replaced the small heater! Lol

  • @roosjen

    That one shelf from Garringer with the carbots is even fuller than Bobby says, because besides Wheeljack, Sideswipe, Prowl, Tracks, Jazz and Smokescreen, there's also a Red Alert between Wheeljack and Tracks (as you can also spot from the side looking at the shelf with Prime and Ironhide) and Bluestreak behind Smokescreen (with only his head and part of his right foot sticking out). Yes, I am just typing this into a comment because I am so proud of myself for spotting that, fml... ;)

    Transformers all look good on their own, but not as often do they look good together. Primary colors and sharp angles, each character vying for consumer attention, but put one alone in front of a nature background, without overcrowding, and it pops. That's what I see with Bobby's Stunticon display.

    I always enjoy these videos. I think the legends display with the battle scene suffers from horizontal space, lighting and as you talked about on the last collection an environment. It is interesting that environments do make the difference with Transformers. Looking forward to your display reveals. Personally your stunticon display is my favorite one....

    I disagree that TFs need an environment to look good. They just need to be laid out well so they're visible, use the vertical space, and be posed well.

  • @tatt4music
    @tatt4music 2 года назад

    The reason why transformers need an environment is because the backgrounds in the cartoon are as memorable as the characters themselves. We all know those backgrounds when we see them. Simple yet vast landscapes.

    • @rusticnp439
      @rusticnp439 2 года назад

      It could also be that the environment gives a sense of scale. For humans... we know what they look like, but a robot on a shelf could be any height. Environments make the transformers feel bigger than the size of the figure.

    Aesthetics First. I don't like seeing a messy shelf, or color-uncoordinated collection. A messy looking shelf is worse than having nothing at all. This is not my personal opinion, this is objectively a fact. Just FYI
